My husband and I have owned this truck for 2 years now. We bought it in Seattle with a rebuilt v8 390 engine, c6 transmission (50,500 miles on it) and dual exhaust. The
body is straight and it's got a clean title. We've driven it < 1000
miles since we've owned it(most of that was our move to Portland). We've put a few thousand dollars of work
into it since then (~$4500, all mechanical, all done by
professionals). We focused on getting the innards running great, and then we were going to move on to the exterior. Most of the documentation for this work is
available. We:
- replaced radiator
- added electric choke (two pumps of the accelerator and it turns on.)
- rewired dash (to fix coolant gauge and speedometer)
- fixed low idle vacuum and timing issues.
- fixed transmission kick down linkage so its super speedy at passing
- replaced carburator
- replaced distributor
- replaced breaks (shoes and cylinders)
- fixed fan clutch which was stealing horsepower from the engine
- transmission flush
- replaced rag joint
Things that still need attention:
- the Exterior. Its a straight body. It will need attention before it will be a head
turner. Some surface rust. The previous owner bondo'ed it as well. We unfortunately didn't do enough research to see the extent of it until we were getting estimates on paint jobs.
- steering column bearing needs to be replaced. We were going to put
power steering in it, so we deferred the work. The rag joint tore and was fixed, but this apparently didn't fix the steering issues.
- odometer is now not working (just realized this looking at old
paperwork. :-/)
The car is registered in Oregon as a Special Interest Vehicle, which
means you don't have to pay insurance on it. We wanted this to be a truck handed down to our kids. We've reconciled this with the reality of not having a place to work on it and our desire to move around more.
We are EXTREMELY motivated to sell this truck. We're moving and it needs a new home too.
The car is parked near the corner of 19th and NE Schuyler. Come by, kick
the tires. If you like it and want to take it for a test drive, call
803.553.5801 or 803.221.2672 to setup an appointment. Serious offers
only, please. If you think you have a better price and it's reasonable, tell us why and we'll reconsider. Thanks!

Ford Mustang hit by Moore' Oklahoma's EF5 tornado lives to do another burnout
Fri, 07 Jun 2013Oklahoma recently saw the destructive power of an EF5 tornado, but in the aftermath of the devastation, we've also been witness to the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Moore, OK resident Jack Haden survived the storm but found that his 2003 Ford Mustang wasn't quite as lucky. As you can see in the image above, the tornado's 200+ mph winds did quite a number on the car, but while most people would have likely called their insurance company and scrapped the car, Haden had other plans.
After finding the car and seeing that its V6 still fired up, Haden spent a couple hours getting the car, um... roadworthy(?)... by removing the doors and front clip, cutting off the roof and putting on some new wheels and tires. He noticed that driving it around brought some comic relief to an area that needed a reason to laugh and smile. Check out the KSBI TV news report video below showing before and after pictures of the tough 'Stang, as well as a video showing the newly lightweight coupe doing a smoky burnout.
Hennessey unleashes 2015 HPE700 supercharged Ford Mustang
Sun, 05 Oct 2014Thanks to the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat there is a new magic number in the muscle car world - 707. To raise eyebrows these days in the power war, a vehicle needs to match or preferably exceed that palindromic figure. The tuners over at Hennessey took a look at it for their 2015 HPE700 Mustang and decided to go one better. Well, ten actually, because they bestowed their latest creation with 717 horsepower and 632 pound-feet of torque.
The HPE 700 Mustang takes the standard Mustang GT with its 5.0-liter V8 and turns up the power a few hundred notches with a Roots-type supercharger running at 7.25 psi. Hennessey claims that this boosted 'Stang can rocket to 60 miles per hour in about 3.6 seconds and cover the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 131 mph. For those keeping score at home, those figures are very similar to Challenger Hellcat.
To cope with all of the added boost, the engine gets a high-flow throttle body, upgraded injectors, new fuel pump, stainless steel exhaust and Hennessey's calibration for the engine management. Pricing for the package is $59,500, including the base 2015 Mustang GT, but the company is limiting production to 500 units for the 2015 model year. Founder John Hennessey told Autoblog that he has already received about a dozen orders for them.
Forza Horizon G-Shock Car Pack brings Nissan IDx, Subaru Brat [w/video]
Tue, Jan 6 2015With winter's icy grip around much of the nation, now may be the perfect time to sit inside at night and enjoy some video games. The latest six-car G-Shock pack for Forza Horizon 2 on the Xbox One is now here, and it gives players a very eclectic group of vehicles to race around the game's open world. This month's group of vehicles spans the decades ranging from 2015 back to 1953. The newest and only concept of the group is the 2015 Nissan IDX Nismo. Since the production chances for this retro coupe look increasingly slim, this game might be your only chance to get behind the concept's wheel. However, if you prefer driving something a bit more classic and Italian, the 1953 Ferrari 500 Mondial is available. To add one more flavor of performance, there is the 2010 Mazda Mazdasped 3 hot hatch, which is also this month's free car for download. In addition to three takes on the sports car, Turn 10 is also offering a trio of off-roaders. The quirkiest among them is the 1980 Subaru Brat GL, which features two jump seats in the back to avoid the dreaded chicken tax. If you prefer something more boxy and American, then the 1975 Ford Bronco is sure to please. Finally, for some real power to get through the mud, there's the 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor as tuned by Shelby with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 making 575 horsepower. As usual, the whole pack costs players $5 to download, or it's free as part of the season pass. Scroll down for a brief video showing all of these virtual rides off and read the press release about them from Turn 10 Studios. This content is hosted by a third party.
