1967 F100, fully restored with a frame-off restoration.  You can see from the pictures that the body was taken off of the frame, completely stripped to bare metal, primed and resprayed prior to reassembly.  This work was done in a professional body shop in Florida before I purchased the truck. The engine and transmission were rebuilt as well.  This truck looks virtually new. It's finished in a stock Ford color for 1967, "Frost Turquoise" with Ivory trim.  It starts and runs like it should. There are only a few minor issues that need attention.  Although the interior was redone and looks great, the driver's side of the seat appears not to have been 'restuffed' correctly, or whatever interior guys call it. The steering wheel was also not put on exactly right, although the wheel itself was redone. The clip is missing off of the brake master cylinder, and I feel like the front brakes (which are new) probably should be bled at some point. I haven't put many miles on the truck, and the guy I bought it from basically had it on display, so I don't think all of the post-resto bugs have all been ironed out, but that's about the extent of what I've found.  The truck really looks fantastic, which is frankly why I'm selling it.  I bought it with the intention of using it, but I find that I'm choosing to use my '49 International instead of this F100 because the International is all dinged up with old paint and I don't feel guilty hauling stuff around in it.  This Ford, by contrast, doesn't even have a scratch on the box, and as a result, I've never hauled anything in it and I don't even take it out much as I don't want dings in it.  I also haven't had it out in the rain or snow. Go figure.  Anyway, if you're looking for a truck that has undergone a restoration well exceeding the value of the truck, here you are.  The buy it now price is about what I have into the truck right now, so I'm not making any money off of this transaction.  The guy who restored this took dozens of restoration photos, which come with the sale, along with quite a bit of restoration paperwork, including parts and vendor invoices. Let me know if you have any questions. The truck is located at my warehouse in NE Denver, close to I-70, with easy shipping access. Purchaser to make all shipping arrangements and payment for shipping.  Buyers with low or negative feedback must contact me or I reserve the right to block their bids.

Chevy Silverado frame twist test a marketing victory versus Ford

Thu, 16 Oct 2014

The pickup market is so competitive that all three major American makers are constantly trying to find a way to prove their product is the best. The new 2015 Ford F-150 is grabbing headlines at the moment by winning awards and posting segment best numbers. But in a new video, Chevrolet is taking aim squarely at the 2015 F-250 Super Duty in a battle of heavy-duty truck supremacy against the 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD... well, in a single metric anyway.
The big numbers from pickups often come down to payload, towing rating and fuel economy, but for this test, Chevy and Howie Long are challenging the torsional rigidity of the trucks' frames, specifically which one flexes less. Long plays the everyman here having the Chevy engineer explain what's going on in the tests. Unsurprisingly for a video on Chevy's official YouTube page, the 2500HD wins out by a good margin. The company also reports that similar results as shown here have been certified in third-party testing.
Check out the video to see the full test. While this might seem like a marketing win for Chevy, Ford isn't immune to it, either. In 2009, the Blue Oval uploaded a similar video comparing the flex under 225 pounds of weight from the bare frames of the F-150, Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram (as it was still called at the time) and the Toyota Tundra. The results fell in the Blue Oval's favor, as you can see here.

1969 Ford Talladega GPT Special is a SEMA showstopper

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

Rad Rides by Troy has unleashed upon the SEMA crowds this custom 1969 Ford Torino Talladega GT Special, and it's a beauty. The car calls to mind the classic Holman Moody stock cars that circled NASCAR tracks in the late 1960's, driven by the likes of Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney and David Pearson, who won the Grand National title in both 1968 and '69 in a Ford Torino.
Even though it has plenty of stock-car influence, there's nothing retro about the car's design or powertrain, other than the fact that the engine is based on a Ford Boss 429 block. Fuel injection, aftermarket aluminum heads and a high-tech custom computer system combine to send 750 reliable ponies to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Brakes measure 14-inches all around, with six-piston Wilwood calipers up front and four-piston units out back.
There's custom bodywork abound, painted in a two-tone Tennessee Whiskey Gold and Daytona Sand finish. Check out all the amazing details in the image gallery below, and scroll down to read all about it in designer Troy Trepanier's own words.

Ford looks to protect logo from Toronto mayor followers

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

One is a member of the Detroit Three and the maker of the Mustang, Fusion, Explorer and F-150. The other is an admitted loudmouthed, drunk-driving, crack-smoking mayor in Canada. Unfortunately for one, it shares its name with the other. Yes, Ford Motor Company is going to great lengths to keep its iconic Blue Oval logo from being appropriated by supporters of besieged Toronto mayor Rob Ford.
At a United Way event earlier this week, some of Mayor Ford's fans showed up with shirts that featured the automaker's logo with the words "Ford Nation," on them. Naturally, Mayor Ford signed them. FoMoCo was quick to issue an unhappy statement:
"Ford did not grant permission for use of its logo. We view it as an unauthorized use of our trademark and have asked it to be stopped," spokesperson Jay Cooney said. There was also a statement from Ford of Canada's Twitter account after a user alerted the company:
