MOVING IN 60 DAYS, AND MUST SELL MY '66 PROJECT F-100!!

Guys, you have the rare opportunity to pick up a project truck which is about 80% complete, and I've already paid for and collected around 90% of the missing parts over the last four years. I'm moving out of the Valley in April, and, sadly, have decided to sell my fun project truck. :-(

It's a 1966 Ford F-100 2wd Short Bed Fleetside
Small block V8 302, Aluminum intake, Headers, Pertronix Electronic Ignition, and a newly tuned Carter AFB carb. Starts with a tap of the throttle and a twist of the key, every time.
Three-speed auto C6 trans, rebuilt less than 5k miles ago
Limited slip 3.73 ratio rear end
Front Disc Brakes Conversion (retrofitted with parts from a 70's F100)
Vacuum-Assist Brake Booster Conversion (stops on a dime!)
18" Chrome Wheels wrapped with 235/45r18 Goodyear performance tires
Detachable-Face Alpine AM/FM/CD player, Pioneer 6x9 speakers (which sound surprisingly good, for what they are!)
Anti-theft Alarm w/ 2 remotes
New 3-person Bench Seat with center fold-down console, arm rest, and storage.
1-yr old Deep Cycle Battery, just in case you *don't* drive it every day (you'll want to!)
2-Speed Wipers which work perfectly
All glass intact, and in very good condition
Dodging the Arizona emissions requirements by 1 year...pre-1967 vehicles are "immune", so you can literally put ANY engine you wanted to in it, without any emissions hassle!

I posted a YouTube video slideshow in the link below. The first half shows your new project truck from various angles...and the second half is photos I've saved for inspiration, and may also give YOU some ideas of how you'd like to finish the project for me, in your own style:

http://youtu.be/i4F7XYBODq0

It starts, runs, drives, and stops...extremely well! Literally, it could be a daily driver, as-is, without any work.

As I mentioned, almost everything "missing" from the truck IS INCLUDED in this auction. Here's a list:

Eqquis Fuel Gauge, which matches the other white-faced gauges on the dash
Heater Assembly, including good heater core and blower motor
Fuel Injection system from a running engine, including ECU
High Performance cam with lifters and roller rockers
Chrome Trim pieces for headliner and interior
AC Compressor and brackets
Window Crank Handles
Bumper Fascia fill panel
Shoulder Harness seatbelts
Hood Lock to keep the bad guys out.
Different seat brackets, swap per your preference
Various Beds, Stepside and Fleetside (see below)
Window rattle prevention kit - NOS (New Old Stock)

Here's a list of some of the many EXTRA parts I have for it as well, which could be sold at the end of your build, recouping a lot of the cost of the build completion:

Hood hinges
Two spare alternators
Original Gauges w/ sweep speedo
Three spare power steering pumps
Two or three fan clutch assemblies
Tie Rod/Drag Link assembly
Working Starter motor
Various Trim pieces
Door handles
Water Pump
Window Regulators
Hood ornament badge
Three Truck Beds (see below...)

Fleetside - I have a complete Fleetside bed, already media-blasted, and ready to be reworked. The best parts from both beds can be combined, to create one good bed utilizing all original steel...no thin, flimsy replacement imported steel body panels needed! I paid $300 for the bed, and spent $275 getting it blasted.

Stepside/Flareside - I also have two near-complete short stepside (Ford calls them Flareside) beds, which could be swapped if you decided to go with that look, instead. Combining the two beds together will result in one near-perfect bed, (once you purchase a floor kit), and one "still usable" bed, perhaps for a utility trailer that you could pull behind. Included is one non-spare tire version of the left fender in good condition, and one spare tire version, with the notch-out. Only thing missing is that there is one tailgate between the two beds, and it's not anywhere near perfect shape, but it's probably still restorable. These two beds together are worth probably $500 (or more) on Craigslist, and I'm including them in the sale as well. You could sell off the "bad" parts of these two beds for a few hundred bucks after you grouped all the "good" and the "bad" parts together. I will reduce the truck's price by $300 if you don't want them, and sell them outright.

Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. Go give them all a read at Car and Driver. Ford Focus RS ready to make our hot hatch dreams real

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Ford's current hot hatch siblings the Fiesta ST and Focus ST are already two pretty great entries into the segment, but there's always a desire for a little more. Thankfully, it looks like the Blue Oval is ready to satiate that need because it's continuing to test the even more powerful Focus RS around Europe. According to our spy shooters, these shots come from near the Nürburgring.
As with previous photos, Ford engineers continue to heavily camouflage the front end of the RS prototypes, but there's a big difference here. Unlike earlier ones, this example appears to have a closer-to-production-ready front bumper rather than just a horizontal strip for the license plate. That may point to development getting somewhat closer to wrapping up. Although, this one lacks the larger rear wing from prior testers, and the exhaust also appears to be a work in progress with the rear diffuser covered in mesh in these latest shots.
The RS is rumored to be using the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from the 2015 Mustang, but power is reportedly turned up from 310 horsepower in the 'Stang to somewhere between 325 hp and 350 hp for the Focus. Routing all that just through the front wheels could be a recipe for serious torque steer, and all-wheel drive is potentially being used for better traction.

Ford to cease Australian automaking operations after 90 years

Thu, 23 May 2013

Ford began manufacturing cars in Australia in 1925 with the Model T. In 2016, Ford will stop manufacturing cars Down Under, including the Falcon and the Territory SUV. Ford Australia CEO Bob Graziano has reportedly confirmed the closure of the company's Broadmeadows assembly plant and the Geelong engine plant, both in the state of Victoria. There will be 650 jobs lost at Broadmeadows, 510 sacrificed at Geelong. Of the roughly 3,000 workers the Blue Oval has in Australia, it's said it will try to retain about 1,000 of them at its R&D and product development facilities.
The writing hasn't just been on the wall, it's been a regular item in all the papers and on Ford's bottom line for years. As recently as 2003, Ford sold nearly 75,000 Falcons, but over the next four years, annual sales dropped by something like 10,000 units, and over the last two years, it has sold less than 20,000 per year. It isn't only Ford that has suffered - sales of the other large, locally produced sedan, the Holden Commodore, have also gone over the precipice, triggering the same kind of angst about Holden's continued existence. Ford is the smallest of Australia's local automakers, Holden and Toyota the others, and has posted losses of $AUD141 million last year ($136M US) and $AUD600 million ($580M US) in the past five years. Graziano said the cost of manufacturing is simply too expensive in the country, twice as high as Europe and three times as high as Asia, and there no way to make a business case for staying in the country.
In January 2012, Ford Australia announced it would stay in the country until at least 2016, but by July of the same year, most outside observers were quietly declaring that 2016 would be the last year of Ford Down Under, and even the speculation was making other observers nervous. Ford received money from the Victorian government last year to aid its refresh of the Falcon and Territory, which will continue on schedule for the 2014 model year. A front- and all-wheel-drive sedan on a global platform is predicted to replace the Falcon, with some other SUV expected to replace the Territory. The company says it still intends to expand its lineup in the country.
