1965 Shortbed Fleetside- Pickup Truck- California Survivor- Patina on 2040-cars
San Martin, California, United States
I bought this car from Felton, CA with the intention of bringing it to Glendale, CA to restore to it's original glory. I have a clear California title with me that will be overnighted to the buyer after funds are cleared. You or your transporter can pick the truck up from the storage yard. Unfortunately I started too many other projects before this one. It's your chance to buy this rare truck. The truck is located about 500 miles away from me so I have not personally seen it. It is being stored at Copart auto auction yard. If you would like to see it in person or send an inspector to see the truck let me know and I will tell you how you can get access to it. The following is the previous owners listing for this truck.
Its very RARE being a Shortbed fleetside. This is a PERFECT truck to build and most desirable model to have being a fleetside shortbed with a factory 352 V8. Restored this trucks are bringing BIG $$$. As many know, the shortbed fleetside's are A MUST HAVE! I was told 1965 was the first year of the twin I-Beam suspension. The truck is being sold as is not running. Its been sitting for several years, I have not attempted to start it, it may be as simple as a battery some fresh gas or ? I have no idea on the mechanical condition of the truck that's why its being sold as is, NOT RUNNING. Is has some cancer as shown in the pictures such as the inside of the bed, the hood, the roof and some minor spots. All the metal is available. The restoration would be easy address or fix compared to all the others I have seen. This would make a great father son project, birthday or graduation present or someone just looking for a really neat project. It has the 352 V8 and automatic transmission. The odometer shows 42,318 and have no idea if there original or not. As you can see the body is SUPER STRAIGHT and best of all the truck is really complete and all the hard to find pieces are original and intact. As far as the history, It was sold new in California in 1965, was painted once in the 1980's ans sat for many years. It has a tachometer and gauges which is a nice addition. This is a SERIOUS OPPORTUNITY for those that know about these trucks. If you have any questions let me know or leave a phone number and I will contact you. |

Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race
Thu, 06 Jun 2013When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.
It's a fun video. And while we've spoiled the results (come on, the video was uploaded by Mazda, you knew the Miata was going to win), be sure to see how it all unfolds, below.
Ford sued over alleged 3.5-liter EcoBoost defects
Thu, 16 May 2013Three Ford owners from Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the automaker over defects that they allege exist within the company's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Automotive News reports that the lawsuit claims the engine "contained serious latent design, manufacturing, or assembly defects." Those defects, the suit claims, cause the vehicle to shake, misfire and lose power quickly.
Two of the plaintiffs, a married couple, own a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, and allege they experienced a loss of power and stalling, while the third, an F-150 owner, claims he lost power while accelerating. In addition to the Taurus SHO and F-150, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available in the Ford Flex, Explorer Sport and Lincoln MKT and MKS. Other three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines are not included in the suit. There have been no recalls associated with 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently not investigating the matter.
The plaintiffs, however, claim Ford has known about the problem, citing several technical service bulletins issued to dealers of the F-150 that suggest possible fixes. Ford had no comment for Automotive News, saying that it's yet to review the lawsuit, which was filed last Friday in Columbus, OH.
George W. Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 fizzles with $300,000 bid at Barrett-Jackson [UPDATE: w/video]
Sun, 20 Jan 2013Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
All proceeds will be sent to the Fisher House Foundation, so at least it's $300K going to a good cause. Feel free to check out the live image gallery above, which includes shots showing Leno's skills helming the auction, and read through the official auction description below.
*UPDATE: Video of the auction and Leno's prods to the crowd for more money can now be seen below.
