this truck was built to be a safe dependable driver so it is not perfect. it is one that can be repaired if necessary at any Ford dealer or quality repair shop with most over the counter parts. it has a clear Kansas title right now it has 5000 miles on it but that will change daily because I am using it everyday rain shine or snow . The donner vehicle was a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer / the body was stripped and repaired using a complete DuPont chroma base system . the new glass was tinted and installed with new rubber. the bed has a tauno cover and the floor is plywood not pretty but very useable. there is 4 compartments in the bed for tools / gas filler neck / battery / and stuff . the tail gate does show some dent but it is bondo free . the trailer hitch is hidden by the rear bumper . the bumpers were smoothed. all the ron francis wiring is run from the firewall under the consol to behind the seat where the fuse box and computer is. there is a Dakota digital commander 10K system installed to pop the doors and roll the windows up and down. the windows are from speciality power window. the interior has sound deadner and jute under the carpet the seat are from a 2002 ford escort the consol is from a mountaineer there is the factory heater with defrost and a under dash vintage air unit this was done so if a system needed work you did not have to disable both the dash gauges are auto meter and the dash knobs are 1957 black pieces. The engine is the stock 5.0 from the mountaineer but has been completely rebuilt with new parts all injectors sensors and sender have been replaced along with all hoses and belts it uses the stock air filter and box it is cooled by a US radiator with a vintage air condenser. there is transmition coolers behind the grill to cool the new trans that was purchased over the ford parts counter. the transfer case is a new remanufactured unit by the company the remanufactures them for ford. the drive shafts are stock with new u-joints . the differentials have had new bearings and seals installed and the front received new axles and all new brake stystem on both ends. the frame is the stock 97 Mountaineer with all the upgraded front end components and it kept the stock Mountaineer front end alignment specs. the truck comes with a load of extra used parts and the original 1959 ford rolling frame. Payment options need to be discussed before you bid shipping is up to the buyer I will assist in any way I can . also a non refundable deposit will need to be made at auction end. I will stop driving the vehicle when the auction is won and the truck is waiting to be picked up. You cannot build a truck that looks this good and is safe dependable and will give you your 15 minutes of fame in 15 second thumbs ups |

Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?
Sat, Sep 23 2017If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below.
