Special Features

Mileage: ODO Shows 24155 Truck is modified to owner’s tastes. Truck has late model Ford Engine 351 Cleveland and automatic transmission that were installed in 2006.  Aftermarket wheels (American Racing). Truck is very clean and appears to have been well maintained. No visible leaks or drips under truck.

Comments

Engine/Engine Compartment: (Overall Condition Grade # 4+) Ford 351 Cleveland. Well done late model engine and trans swap. Motor has MSD distributor and ignition module. Motor sounds solid when running with no obvious noises or rattles. Engine compartment is nicely detailed. Truck has power steering and brakes. Aluminum Edelbrock intake and Carburetor. Nice aluminum radiator overflow tank with polished top tank on radiator also. Truck has been driven on regular basis.

Chassis: (Overall Condition Grade # 4) Front suspension is torsion bar from different vehicle. All work to chassis appears to be very solid and of good quality. Chassis could use a good cleaning and detailing to help improve overall grade as well as appearance. Exhaust system appears to be relatively new and is rust free. Truck has true dual exhaust from manifolds back. Front disc brakes with rear drums. American racing wheels with Bridgestone tires with plenty of tread remaining.

Interior:  (Overall Condition Grade # 4) Interior is nice but could use some finishing details. Trims rings around door handles are missing and carpet on floor has some fit issues. Interior is clean with no visible rips or tears. Driver’s door window glass is cracked and should be replaced. Truck has stock gauge cluster with additional aftermarket gauges added. Oldsmobile tilt column and wheel have also been added.

Exterior:  (Overall Condition Grade # 4+) Paint looks very good with nice depth to entire paintjob. Some chips and scratches from vehicle use are evident but have been touched up. Most chips are around edge of hood and tailgate. Many chrome items throughout exterior. Pin-striping is tastefully done and fits with overall appearance of the vehicle. Panel fit is okay but not very consistent throughout vehicle. Bed floor is nicely finished with stained wood flooring and aluminum diamond plate toolbox mounted at rear of bed.

Summary/Comments

Truck sat and idled the entire time of my visit @ 1 hour and the temperature gauge never went above 160 degrees. Truck is a very nice looking driver with a well detailed exterior. Undercarriage could use detailing and painting. Overall a nice custom 1956 F100 driver.

Ford reveals concept trucks that ultimately became Atlas

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

The Ford Atlas Concept was one of the quiet success stories of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now Ford has given us a quick glimpse as to how that creation came to be. Designers actually combined two early sketches to build the Atlas. One, called the Bullet Train, is a futuristic, aerodynamic creation, while the other, aptly named the Locomotive, features the squared off proportions we're familiar with.
Once designers settled on the truck's proportions, they began nailing down exactly which attributes they wanted the final design to have. The Concept's notched windshield originated as a forked glass roof that seamlessly transitioned into the windscreen.
Likewise, designers wanted to fit the truck's tailgate with a storage compartment for tools and a first aid kit, but settled on the dual-purpose step/cargo cradle. Interestingly enough, the concept's active aero shutter wheels actually originated in some of the earliest sketches. Check out the photos and slides here for a closer look.

Lincoln Aviator could make a comeback

Tue, Jun 9 2015

The idea of Lincoln dropping its alphanumeric scheme in favor of real names was welcomed by fans of the marque and even appeared possible after the rousing reception to the Continental concept. Now, rumors suggest that the next of the luxury brand's nameplates to see a possible revival just might be the Aviator. Don't get your hopes up quite yet, though. The Truth About Cars admits that this tip comes from a second-hand source, but the person reports that Lincoln has a project codenamed Aviator as a model based on the Explorer. There's evidence to give the rumor some shaky support, though. Ford already has the trademarks for the name and AV8R. Also, an Explorer-based vehicle in 2019 is included for the brand's predictions in the recent Car Wars forecast. Autoblog reached out to company spokesperson Sam Locricchio, but he would not speculate about future products. The same source claims to The Truth About Cars that the Blue Oval might not replace the Ford Flex or Lincoln MKT when the current generations come to an end. Also, the next-gen Expedition and Navigator could use 10-speed automatics and follow the F-150 to get aluminum bodies, which is also already rumored. Although, all of this should be taken with a big grain of salt until anything more official has arrived. Lincoln spokesperson Stephane Cesareo gave The Truth About Cars no comment on the rumor, but said, "By 2020, we expect to expand the segments that we participate in by adding two new nameplates to the Lincoln brand. We have not provided any indications about the products or their names." Related Video:

Recharge Wrap-up: Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive is a rock star, FedEx tests electric trucks

Thu, Oct 2 2014

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive is in a new music video for I Lived by OneRepublic. The band's singer, Ryan Tedder, has also been brought on as a brand ambassador for the German automaker. OneRepublic will also be performing the song at the Mercedes-Benz Media Night on the eve of the Paris Motor Show. No word if Mercedes plans to offer hordes of screaming teenage fans as an option package with the B-Class Electric Drive. See the video (the car shows up around the four-minute mark) or read more in the press release below. FedEx is testing converted electric delivery trucks with diesel range extenders. Looking to shrink its carbon footprint, the company has converted a handful of trucks as part of a pilot program. In addition to battery packs, each truck is equipped with diesel turbine generators (supplied by Ian Wright's company, Wrightspeed) to provide electricity when the battery is depleted. Because the diesel motors aren't powering the vehicle directly, they can continuously run at their most efficient speed, making the trucks about twice as efficient as those powered by traditional means. Read more at Wired. Ford's new aluminum-bodied F-150 will be 5 to 20 percent more efficient, the company says. The fuel economy gains depend on the particular version of the truck, but the biggest improvement will likely come from the 3.5-liter V6 and the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6. Automotive News predicts the F-150 SFE to be rated at 21 mpg city/28 highway/23 combined, which are identical figures to the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. The result could be a noteworthy fuel economy battle between Ford and Ram trucks. Learn more at Automotive News. The US Department of Energy is providing $25 million in funding toward reducing the price of algal biofuels. The goal is to get the price of these renewable fuels below $5 per gasoline gallon equivalent (gge) by 2019, and less than $3 per gge by 2030. The money will fund projects to develop better algal cultures that produce biofuel and other useful bioproducts, and projects to boost biomass productivity. The DOE says it wants to help develop a "bioeconomy" that provides jobs, helps the environment and ensures energy security. Read more at Energy.gov. This content is hosted by a third party.
