This truck is the ultimate in driving a classic vehicle. It has all the modern attributes but the classic look. It received a frame off restoration so everything on the truck is new or has been upgraded. The list goes on and on so I will try to list some of the highlights. Rack and pinion power steering: Corvette independent rear which has been mini tubed. 4 wheel power disk brakes 302 ci ford motor with fuel injection. Coated headers. Aluminum radiator Boyd's wheels Air Conditioning Power windows Wood bed floor Alpine radio with blue tooth and usb port Digital gages Shaved door handles with electric poppers All new glass The interior was just completed and is all leather. I own an upholstery shop so the truck has been used to show off our work. It has been entered in two shows and won best truck in one and in the Asphalt Angels show it won best interior. The carpet is custom made and the trim has been made to look like blue carbon fiber. The underside of the truck looks as good as the rest of the truck. Ford pits The Stig against Gran Turismo 6 in Focus ST Goodwood run
Thu, 03 Jul 2014The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the world great automotive gatherings. So, it was the perfect event for Ford to give the refreshed 2015 Focus ST its world debut in front of a loving public. It even surprised us with a new diesel-powered version, as well.
The Blue Oval really put its focus on making the ST a better driver for this refresh. It left its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder alone to still pump out a respectable 252 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The changes like a retuned front suspension, electric power steering and improved interior made the hot hatch an even better place to spend time behind the wheel.
To prove that the Focus ST is still as potent as ever, Ford set up a one-on-one race up the Goodwood Hill. But instead of putting the two cars side-by-side, former Stig from Top Gear UK, Ben Collins, piloted the real model up the course, and his rival drove the virtual version in Gran Turismo 6. The two hot hatches set off at the same time to see whether reality could beat the virtual world, and the finish was actually extremely close. They're pretty darn similar. And yet our views are oh so different.
If you guys could read the transcripts of our editors' chat room, you'd know that we're a pretty argumentative bunch. It's always good-spirited stuff (well, usually), but when we're not obsessively covering this or that, we're usually fighting about one car being better than another. We're all enthusiasts here, and our automotive tastes run the gamut from the weird and unusual to the decidedly mainstream - we all feel strongly about specific cars in a given segment. While it usually makes for good conversation, if we're passionate enough, it can turn into a tomato-throwing showdown.
New UAW boss Williams talks tough, vows 'no more concessions'
Sun, 08 Jun 2014Dennis Williams, the newly elected president of the UAW, had some tough words for American automakers in his inauguration speech at the 2014 UAW Convention, striking down the possibility of any additional concessions from the 400,000-strong union.
"No more concessions. We are tired of it. Enough is enough," Williams said during his speech. UAW employees have not received a raise in nearly 10 years, according to Reuters.
Considering the recent strong results for Ford, Chrysler and General Motors, the union's demands are likely to carry a bit more weight in next year's negotiations. And considering Williams' tough stance, we could be in for some fireworks once negotiations commence.
