THE BODY IS A 55 FORD PICK-UP THE HOOD RAISES BY HYDRAULICS THIS IS A OLDER BUILD I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG AGO IT HAS BEEN THIS IS THE WAY HE GOT THE TRUCK. I HAVE LOOKED IT OVER THE BEST I COULD IT HAS BEEN WELL DONE. IT DOES NEED DOOR GLASS BOTH OF THOSE ARE MISSING. OVER ALL WITH A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR OWN TOUCHES IT WOULD MAKE A NICE VEHICLE THAT WOULD TURN HEADS. IT HAS CHEVY TRUCK RALLIES WITH 35 1050 15 INCH TIRES AND THE FENDER WELLS HAS BEEN CUT OUT AND A VERY NICE JOB DOING IT. THE TRUCK SHIFTS GOOD AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WORKS GOOD. A FEW DAYS AGO I HAD CONTACTED THE OWNER WHO ORIGINALLY BUILT THIS TRUCK HE SAID HE HAD SPENT A LOT OF MONEY BUILDING THIS TRUCK HE FIRST BOUGHT IT WITH THE CAB AND BED ONLY SETTING ON THE BLAZER FRAME. HE HAD TO PUT THE REST OF THE TRUCK TOGETHER. HE SAID THE GRILL IS A 1954 THAT DIDN'T COME WITH THE TRUCK. HE HAD BOTH TITLES TO THIS TRUCK ONE WAS A 1955 FORD TRUCK TITLE THAT WENT TO THE BODY THE OTHER WAS A 1983 TITLE THAT WENT TO THE BLAZER. TO MAKE THIS TRUCK COMPLETELY LEGAL HE COULD NOT USE THE 1955 TITLE. THE TRUCK WAS BUILT IN W.V. HE TOOK BOTH TITLES TO THE DMV THE 1983 TITLE OVER RODE THE 1955 TITLE THE TRUCK WAS INSPECTED AND WAS GIVEN A W.V. 1983 ASM (SELF ASSEMBLED) TITLE WITH THE 1955 CAB VIN NUMBER. THIS TITLE IS NOT RECONSTRUCTED. MY FRIEND BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FROM THE MAN IN W.V. AND TOOK IT TO OHIO. SO THIS TRUCK WENT THROUGH THE SECOND STATE INSPECTION. HE WAS GIVEN A CLEAR OHIO ASM TITLE. Ford reflects on radical Mustang concept that never reached showrooms
Tue, 25 Jun 2013The Ford Mustang that we all know and love made major waves in the auto industry way back in 1964 by offering style and reasonable pricing with optional V8 power. Its long hood and short rear deck, combined with a low-slung and sporty cockpit, made a lasting impression in the minds of consumers and car designers alike, and its basic shape has so endured the test of time that it's still in use today.
This being the case, you may be interested to know that the first Mustang of 1964.5 wasn't actually the first Mustang at all, being preceded by a concept car that made its public debut in 1962. This concept was nothing like the car that would eventually make it into production, with a radical wedge shape and a small V4 engine sitting behind the car's two occupants, driving the rear wheels. In other words, the conceptual Mustang was pretty much the complete opposite of the production Mustang besides the name.
Ford has kindly decided go through its massive archive to bring the original Mustang concept back into the public eye. The company goes so far as to pose this question to fans of the pony car: "Should we borrow a few of these style elements for the next iteration of the Mustang?" Check out our image gallery above and then let 'em know what you think in the Comments below.
Long winter means most automakers won't curb summer shutdown
Sun, 18 May 2014A lot more happened during this latest brutal winter than days of snow and Netflix binges. Automotive sales took a battering. After all, going out car shopping when it's eleventy-billion degrees below zero isn't a good time.
Because of this Old Man Winter-induced sales slump, inventories are abnormally high as we head into the summer car buying season. That's led some analysts to predict that automakers will be more inclined to idle factories this summer, in a bid to trim some of the built-up inventory. Traditionally, American manufacturers offer up a two-week break in the middle of summer, although the burgeoning sales of the past few years have seen this practice become less popular.
"We're likely not going to see an acceleration this year," Jeff Schuster, a senior vice president at LMC Automotive, told The Detroit News. "We'll see production increases in 'pockets' but I don't know if it will be as widespread as in recent years."
Reflecting on the Ford GT on its 10-year anniversary
Thu, 10 Apr 2014Ten years ago, during the bright-eyed enthusiasm of the early 2000s and before the collective automotive industry did its best Titanic impression, we had the Ford GT. An everyman's supercar like there'd never been (remember, this was before 638-horsepower Corvettes were a thing), the GT arrived with a supercharged, 5.4-liter V8 that produced 550 horsepower and graced this retro-styled rocket with an easy, sub-four-second sprint to 60 miles per hour.
Equal to the GT's performance were its looks. Inspired by the GT40 racers that dominated Le Mans and bested Ferrari in the 1960s, the sleek, low, almost-reptilian look of the GT was the absolute pinnacle of the retro styling that so defined the early 2000s.
Crank and Piston put together a video celebrating the ten-year-old GT, arguing that Ford is a bit too busy with the next-gen Mustang, which turns 50 next week, to do it themselves. In the short clip, there is gratuitous engine noise and supercharger whine, not to mention scenes of the white-on-red GT prowling the deserts and streets of Dubai. It's a bit short, but very nicely shot. Scroll down, have a look and be sure to turn up those speakers before getting started.
