1954 Ford F100 Custom Hot Rod Pickup on 2040-cars
East Lansing, Michigan, United States
SEE VIDEO OF THIS CLASSIC TRUCK IN ACTION ON YOUTUBE: youtube.com/watch?v=dZHJSn7xF6s&feature=em-upload_owner This is a 1954 Ford F100 pick-up limited special edition. The chrome grill and spare tire mounting are original and only equipped on the 1954 F100 special edition. The Truck was totally "off frame" rebuilt and modified by a custom hot rod shop in Hollywood CA. The Body was lowered and custom fabricated steel fender skirts were added. Engine is a new Ford Cleveland racing motor with all additional parts and equipment in chrome, including a Hilborn style chrome air scoop. Custom chrome panels installed on firewall. It has a new 9" rear end, and a new front end, a new fuel ejection system, AC CELL DFI microprosessor controlled ignition system, new 3 speed automatic transmission, new power brakes, power steering, power windows, power door locks, and power hood air scoop installed. A complete new Mopar suspension and new shocks and bearings installed. It has a complete new custom interior with center council and chrome "Ididit" steering column, leather steering wheel, new "Dolphin" chrome gauges and chrome "Billet" pedals. Chrome plated running board ribs. There is a 12 disc 200W JVC stereo MP3/AM/FM/CD player installed. New "Vintage" heat and air conditioning system. Chrome grab bars at truck bed were added. Only the body, chrome grill and oak wood truck bed is original. The body has never been dented and has no Bondo. Custom painting under hood include Marlin Brando, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean hanging out at a 50's drive in diner. I wasn't with them! All the custom hand painting (not vinyl), including interior dash adornment, was done by Gary Glenn, famous custom hot rod painter in California during Ed Roth's "rat fink" days in the 50's and 60's. This rod has "flomaster" dual pipes which together with the Ford racing engine sound like a ferrari. It will peel rubber in every gear even though it's an automatic transmission. It was test driven at over 110 mies per hour at the "Michigan Speedway". The paint finnish is an eight coat process with two additional clear lacquar coats and is absolutely flawless. The motor and whitewall tires have 6,600 miles on them. This truck was intetionally created to simulate a hot rod as customized in the 50's including chrome headlight half shields, duel adjustable spotlights on each side, and a custom matching windshield visor. I took it to a few car shows for a couple years after I completed the restorations and modifications and it won trophies at every show. Over $120,000 invested. Asking price $89,000. Lincoln MKC will be renamed the Corsair in 2021, probably
Mon, Jun 18 2018Lincoln will be renaming its MKC crossover, calling it the Corsair instead. Automotive News is reporting that the recently trademarked, yet storied Ford model name Corsair will be affixed on the 2021 model year crossover. The report says Ford has already told its U.S. dealers about the name at an Orlando meeting last month. Ford has a long history with the Corsair nameplate in the States and abroad: Most recently, it has been in use in Australia in the early 1990s, in the UK in the 1960s, and before that Ford offered an Edsel Corsair in the late 1950s. Even if an Edsel connection might not be the best possible thing for a Ford product, let alone a Lincoln, it might serve the crossover well as Ford moves to ditch the MK naming convention it's used for Lincoln for the past decade. Still, the manufacturer is said to have cautioned dealers it might opt out of using the Corsair name before production time. At the same meeting, Ford reportedly showed the next-generation Escape, the Explorer, a battery electric crossover dubbed the Mach 1, a yet-unnamed small SUV (which might be the Bronco) , and a new Lincoln Continental complete with suicide doors. The MKC will still receive a refresh for next year, retaining its letters-name for a couple of years before the bigger redesign for 2021. Currently, the MKC is the strongest-selling Lincoln product in China, and it brings in numerous new Lincoln customers there. In the U.S. it's outsold by the MKX crossover and is neck-and-neck with the MKZ sedan.
Which is more fuel efficient, driving with a pickup's tailgate up or down?
Tue, 26 Aug 2014
Thanks to the smoke wand in the wind tunnel, you can actually see the difference in our video.
Should you drive with your pickup truck's tailgate up or down? It's an age-old controversy that's divided drivers for decades. Traditionalists will swear you should leave the tailgate down. Makes sense, right? It would seem to let the air flow more cleanly over the body and through the bed. But there's also a school of thought that argues trucks are designed to look and operate in a specific manner, and modern design techniques can help channel the airflow properly. So don't mess with all of that: Leave the tailgate up.
