1954 Ford F100 Chopped Top Lead Sled Rat Rod Custom Hot Lowrider Custom on 2040-cars

Year:1954 Mileage:100000

Here’s a sweet 1954 Ford F100pickup!  Completed just this past fall it’s as fresh as they come, with the look that everyone wants and all the right modern upgrades to make it drive like a more modern truck.  Spend less time cleaning, polishing and tinkering and more time cruising.  The truck comes with a NY state registration.

This is a custom truck that you won’t find anywhere else. The roof has been chopped 5 inches.  The front bumpers are 1958 Chrysler Imperial and the grill has been treated with a POR-15 product over scuff polished steel.  The hood has a reverse hinge kit and operatessmoother than most factory reverse hoods.  The bed is a Ford Ranger step-side with F100 fenders grafted into it, giving a more appealing look then the old utilitarian beds of the time.  The bed also includes a late 80’s flip open Jaguar fuel cap, 1955 Thunderbird tail lights and 1958 Impala reverse lights.  The tail gate has been fabricated so it could be removed and a worthy motorcycle could ride in the bed.  The rear bumpers consist of a little 50’s Desoto Grill and some 50’s Chevy bumper parts. The running boards are even completely unique.  The windshield is a polycarbonate plastical so included with the sale is a solid side glass kit that will still need tobe installed.

The paint is a Hot Rod Flatz SteelBlue with old school scallops in a darker navy blue and finished off with beautiful pinstripes laid down by Mark Matyjakowski.  http://www.pinheadlounge.com/MarkMatyjakowski   The bed has beenlined with a super hard two part epoxy tan finish that will take a hatchet tochip and should possibly outlast the steel it’s applied to.

The truck has the drive train of a1994 Ford Ranger which includes power steering, power brakes, disc brakes upfront, independent front suspension and an automatic transmission.  This makes maintenance on this truck very easy considering all the parts are very attainable at most any local parts shop.  The front brakes are brand new, including all new brake and fuel lines throughout the truck, the rear drum brakes still need to be replaced. The front suspension consists of a brand new DJM Suspension Dream Beams dropped I-beams and the rear is a DJM flip kit.  The truck rolls on old 15 inch steel wheels, wrapped in NOS vintage Firestone bias ply wide whites.  Inclueded with truck is one spare matching tire.

The reverse hinged hood opens up toreveal a strong running 4.0 V6 Ford Ranger engine, with a custom cold airintake.  (Consider that they have several V8 swaps available for these frames)  The exhaust system has been completely replaced to include the manifolds, down tube and oxygen sensors.  Some Thrush mufflers finish off the exhaust with a nice throaty sound and a pair of tips stick out each side of the truck for an old style custom look.  The Radiator and A/C Condenser are also brand.

This truck has that new car smell we all love as a result of the freshly wrapped seat and door panels.  This brown faux leather interior looks and even acts just like real leather and durable enough to be used for outdoor furniture.  The truck maintains factory Ford Ranger heat and A/C with the controls hidden in the glove box. The gaugecluster is factory F100 with a working retro-fit speedometer.    The custom 50’s Pontiac gauge pods in thecenter of the dash display water temp and oil pressure.  Finishing off the door panels with a set of armrests out of an early 60's Ford Fairlane.  Another nice little addition is the modified shifter that has been langth end and toped with a number 4 pool ball.

NOTE:  The two photos of the truck out doors with out the model, you'll notice it's missing it's pin stripes, sits on differant wheels and the windshield it not full.  These photos were older and taken before the truck was finished to the point it is now.

Ford Mustang GT500 successor spied near SVT

Tue, 17 Sep 2013

Details about the next-gen Ford Mustang are scarce, and there's even less information out there about the upcoming replacement for the Shelby GT500. Previously rumored to drop the Shelby name and wear the GT350 moniker, the highest-performance Mustang has just been spotted testing near Ford's SVT operations.
Despite being cloaked in heavy camouflage, we can instantly tell this prototype is different from other Mustang spy shots we've seen in the past. Aside from the Shelby-spec wheels, quad exhaust outlets (previous spy shots show only two) and beefier brakes, this car also has air intakes on the hood and front fenders. These elements help to neither prove nor dismiss rumors that the next SVT Mustang will be naturally aspirated. It also looks like Ford is may be planning some changes to this car's rear suspension, as there is some extra camouflage added beneath the rear end of this prototype.
As a bonus, these spy shots also give us our first look inside the new Mustang, revealing a new steering wheel (with more buttons) and a glimpse of the dual-pod instrument gauges. Check out past spy shots of the 2015 Mustang showing off its new face and driving around town.

2014 Ford Mustang GT

Fri, 17 May 2013

I was more than a year removed from my last experience with the Mustang GT and its delicious 5.0 V8 when this new 2014 example rolled up to my driveway recently. Good weather and a planned road trip across the state meant that I would get plenty of seat time in this conservatively specified example, too. In total, I logged about 400 miles in a week of driving - not a lot for some of you super commuters out there, but quite a lot for this work-from-home journalist.
The basic formula of the 5.0 has stayed the same for 2014. The 2013 model year saw a number of updates to keep the Mustang fresh until it's replaced with an all-new generation for 2015. So, for its bon voyage tour, the fifth-generation Pony Car has seen only a few modifications: a couple of new paint colors (Oxford White and Ruby Read Metallic), trim and wheel revisions and, sadly, the deletion of the Boss 302 from the Ford lineup. However, while the limited-edition Boss is likely to reappear sometime after the gen-six Mustang makes its debut in 2015, the GT Track Package cars like the one I tested provide at least a partial solution for those looking for hot laps.

2014 Roush Stage 3 Mustang

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Up until now, it's been some years since I managed to get behind the wheel of the hot Mustangs tuned by the folks at Roush Performance. My memories of those vehicles are fond, as the Roush up-fits usually make for better-driving examples of the iconic Ford pony, with better-tuned suspensions, excellent short-shift kits and, of course, huge additions of power. The wake-your-neighbors aural characteristics of these cars have been nothing short of outstanding, too.
But in the years since my last experience with the Roush formula, Ford's own development team has churned out some pretty potent 'Stangs. We currently live in a world where the Blue Oval will sell you a Mustang with 662 horsepower from the factory, and the recently departed Boss 302 remains one of the best Mustangs - and best sports coupes - the Autoblog crew has ever driven.
So with great-driving and hugely powerful Mustangs coming straight off the line at Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant, does the Roush package still offer that extra special something to make it stand out? I spent a week with a Stage 3 coupe to find out.
