Coardboard door panels, kick panels are warped from moisture. Speedometer needs calibrated. Missing a number of interior accesories. Missing tail gate."

This 1953 Ford pick-up is being sold in the condition in which I bought it.  Wanted it as a project and never had time to work on it, though it was off to a good start when I got it.  Chasis, suspension, wheels and brakes are all in good shape. The 305 V8 Chevy engine runs good.  This is definitly a drivable vehicle and I have used it to get to work on a regular basis. The three speed automatic transmission needs some work.  It makes a ticking sound in first gear, and it shifts a little hard.  Fluid has leaked from the bellhousing at times.

Body work and paint job had been done by the previous owner, but over the last three years some chips and cracks have developed and there are a couple rust bubbles begining.  Both driver and passenger side windows work, but the passenger side vent mirror is broken.  The right side bed side panel has a small hole. (paint chips, rust, and damage seen in pics)
Bed boards have been replaced and are in good condition, but unfinished.  There is no tail gate.
The interior has been repainted red.  Original bench seat has been recovered in red vinyl.  The cardboard door panels and kick panels are warped from moisture, but the paint underneath is good.  New Dolphin gauges are set in wood and all work, but speedometer needs to be recalibrated.  Most interior accesories are missing, (i.e. rearview, visors, knobs)  Heater and windshield wipers are not functional.  Head lights and LED tail lights work, but after a recent storm, the turning blinkers shorted out.  There are some wireing issues beween the ignition switch and the starter motor and some times I have to give it a quick jump to get it started.
I like this truck a lot and love driving it around town, but like I said, I never had time to work on it.  It would make a great project and, with a little work, would make a good "rat rod" style truck or even a daily driver.

Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.

Ford C-Max Commercial Brings Cadillac 'Poolside' Ad Down To Earth

Thu, Mar 27 2014

If we had tried to predict the first video response to the controversial Poolside video for the Cadillac ELR, we would not have thought it would center on compost. But, hey, it's always nice to be reminded that the real world is sometimes better than fiction. Instead of the chic swagger of 'Poolside,' 'Anything Is Possible' is all about getting dirty. The new short in question is called Upside: Anything Is Possible and it promotes two things: Detroit Dirt and the Ford C-Max Energi. As in the ELR ad, Ford's plug-in C-Max only makes an appearance at the tail end of the spot, but instead of the chic swagger of Poolside, Anything Is Possible is all about getting dirty. The ad stars Pashon Murray, co-founder of Detroit Dirt, which takes natural waste from around Detroit, composts it into soil and then spreads that around "forgotten parcels" of Detroit to create urban farms. Detroit Dirt gets its bio-waste from a lot of sources, including the Detroit Zoological Society (all that herbivore manure has to go somewhere), Ford and General Motors, but this particular ad was the idea of Ford's PR agency, Team Detroit. It was a frenetic shoot, filmed with an LA-based director right after a big winter storm blew through Detroit, and Murray couldn't be happier with the result. "This was Ford Motor Company pushing my story, letting me tell the story that I believe in," Murray tells AutoblogGreen. "I get to help push this car and I get to tell my story." She says that the Team Detroit and Ford had to agree on the message, "from my understanding, [YouTube] is where they wanted to start, not where they wanted to finish." The ad is already getting a positive response on Twitter, so we won't be surprised if it shows up in more places soon. "It's not saying Ford is better than GM. It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." As Detroit Dirt has off-screen support from both GM and Ford, it's unsurprising to hear Murray say that the video "is not a rivalry thing." She notes that the ad agency Team Detroit came to her and offered to tell the Detroit Dirt story using the framework of the GM ad. "It's a parody on this commercial, but it's not saying Ford is better than GM," she said. "It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." What is that story? It's about urban farming, recovery and recycling. Murray tells us that for the last seven or eight years, she's been dedicated to sustainability.

New car market raining on convertibles' parade

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.
