You are bidding on a 1953 Ford F100 pick-up.  This truck is an every day driver and is driven regularly.  Running condition is very good.  The original 6 cylinder inline engine runs great and has recently been tuned up.  The original oil bath air cleaner is still in use.  The carburetor was recently rebuilt and a new fuel pump was installed.  The side pan and valve cover gaskets were replaced recently as well.  The entire brake system was recently replaced as well, including new master cylinder, new brake lines and new wheel cylinders.  The windshield is new as well.  The wood in the bed has been replaced in the last two years and it was coated with wood treatment to keep it from rotting.  The tires are in good condition with plenty of miles left on them.  The paint is several years old and is not original.  There are plenty of scratches and nicks in the paint, especially in the bed as this truck is used as an every day driver.  The dash has all of the gauges but newer aftermarket gauges have been installed for more accuracy.  The interior has been replaced as the pics show and it is in excellent condition with the exception of one tear on the drivers side of the bench seat(see the pictures).  I have a asking price but will accept a reasonable offer for less, but please, REASONABLE OFFERS ONLY!  A $500.00  deposit is required at the time of sale with the balance due upon pick-up, cash only, no checks.  I will not ship the vehicle!  Buyer must arrange for pick up at my address in Elkton Virginia, zip code 22827.  I will deliver within the state of Virginia for a fee of one dollar per mile from my location to yours.  I accept PayPal as well.  Please feel free to call with any questions, 540-298-1417, 9am to 8pm EST  only please.  Thanks for looking.

Ford files trademark application for 'Model E'

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

In early December, Ford filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the name "Model E." Historically, Ford never produced a Model E, and while automakers are known to file for trademarks they never use, some have wondered if the application might be used for a concept car.
Based on other recent events, though, it could be a legal move. In 2000 Ford sued an online start-up called Model E over the similarity of that name to Ford's industry-shaping Model T, but the judge dismissed the case citing lack of proper grounds. In August 2013, Tesla applied for trademark registration for Model E, and at the time, Ford said it would review the application. Tesla actually made two applications for Model E, one for automobiles and structural parts therefore, the other for "providing maintenance and repair services for automobiles," and there are plenty of theories about what the name could be applied to.
The Published for Opposition date for Tesla's applications is December 31, 2013, after which anyone who thinks they'd be harmed by Tesla being granted the trademark gets 30 days to register their issues. This is just speculation, but Ford's application - which was filed for automobiles only - might be about protecting what it sees as unwelcome encroachment on the name Model T, protection it wasn't able to enforce before when the stakes were only online and much smaller.

Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes

Mon, 18 Jul 2011

Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.
