1952 Ford F-1 half ton pickup truck with rare "5 Star Cab".  Non - original Mercury V8 Flat Head engine.  Has not ran in many years.  Lots of patina!!!!!!!!  Would made a neat Rat Rod for sure.  A restorable nearly complete truck that has the usual rust that trucks of this era had in fenders, cab floorboard, and doors, but really a fairly straight body. The "5 Star Cabs" are very hard to find these days as they were a very dressed out truck with several extra nice options and not many truck buyers would pay the extra money for these extra features when they were new. The "5 Star Cabs" had windshield outside stainless reveal molding, stainless door vent frames, heavy foam cushioned seats, dual arm rest ( missing ) with covered door panels, dual sun visors, dual outside door locks, locking glove box, interior courtsey dome light, extra insulation in doors and headliner to mention a few.  This truck has a 100 H.P.  flat head Mercury engine and condition of engine is unknown.  NO TITLE, BILL OF SALE ONLY!!!!!  Delivery is possible for a fee but depending on location and my schedule. Delivery is NOT guaranteed. This is a PUBLIC AUCTION meaning the reserve is not made public. Please just bid what you feel its worth and wait to see what happens. Serious bidders only. Volvo to shake off Ford ties with new platforms, engines

Sat, 23 Feb 2013

It would seem Volvo is finally getting around to throwing all of Ford's things out of the apartment. Automotive News reports the Swedish automaker is preparing to unleash a range of new engines as well as a fresh platform designed entirely in house. The powerplants include an all-new four-cylinder engine set to bow before the end of this year before arriving in the US by 2014. Shortly thereafter, the world should get its first glimpse at the next-generation XC60, which will the company's first model to make use of the Volvo scalable platform architecture (SPA). US buyers can expect to see that machine on their roads by early 2015.
The next V70 and S80 will also use the SPA, though those models will carry V90 and S90 designations when they hit dealer floors. But that doesn't mean Volvo has completely weened itself off of Ford technology. The V40 will continue to ride on Ford bones until the model's next chassis can be co-developed between Volvo and Geely.

Jay Leno drives postcard-perfect '32 Ford Highboy Roadster

Mon, 25 Aug 2014

At the turn of the century, it was arguably the Honda Civic that best defined inexpensive performance tuning, and in the '50s it was the Tri-5 Chevys. One of the earliest platforms to gain a huge following among young people looking for a cheap way to go fast was the classic '32 Ford Highboy Roadster. This week, Jay Leno's Garage looks at one of the very first vehicles that defined the look of the hot rod heyday.
This '32 Ford was built in the '40s and graced the cover of the fourth issue of Hot Rod Magazine back in 1948. All of the hot rods that you see shining at car shows today owe a serious debt of gratitude to this roadster. It bears all of the cues that define the look, including a notched frame and hidden door hinges. Under the three-piece hood is a flathead V8 boasting all sorts of period modifications, including copper cylinder heads. It was seriously fast in its era too, and proved it by reaching 112.21 miles per hour on a dry lakebed in 1947.
These days, this hot rod is on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Although, if you can't make it to California to see it, the United States Postal Service is celebrating this Ford with one of its two hot rod Forever stamps. Like Jay says in the video, in terms of hot rodding, "it all comes back to this." Check out the video to learn more about this rolling piece of tuning history.

Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang is a lean, mean, Z/28-fighting machine [w/video]

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

If there's one thing you can count on, it's that the renewed rivalry between the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro will never, ever cease. For every version of Ford's pony car, there's an equally potent Chevrolet. And so with the debut of the Camaro Z/28 earlier this year, Ford has responded with a track-focused 'Stang of its own, resurrecting the Shelby GT350 name.
It looks to be a fine piece of work, this Mustang, with power coming from a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 that will produce "more than 500 horsepower" and "above 400" pound-feet of torque. That grunt runs to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, and a Torsen limited-slip differential keeps everything in line.
But that's hardly the most impressive piece of the GT350 puzzle. Ford has increased the Mustang GT's chassis stiffness for duty here in the Shelby, and the coupe employs MagneRide damping which automatically adjusts based on road conditions and driver inputs. It's a first both for the Blue Oval and for the segment. And speaking of firsts, the GT350 uses a flat-plane crankshaft - something Ford has never included in a production V8 before.
