You are bidding on a fully loaded, very clean and fantastic car.  We are a non-smoking family - there has never been a lit cigarette in this vehicle.  This is the most popular color combination Ford sells. I am selling this car because our kids are old enough now that we rarely all travel together as a group of seven any more and I am looking to switch to a sedan for my frequent multi-state business trips.  I have sold three cars before on eBay Motors and had nothing but positive feedback (115 Sold Items, all with positive+ feedback).

We really love the car.  It has been very good to us.  It comes with the existing 5 year, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty, plus a SAFE-GUARD Ultimate Vehicle Protection Service Contracts $595 (free repairs on tire, wheels and rims, windshield damage, and dent and ding protection).  We also purchased the Extended PremiumCARE $795 from Ford (7 years or 75,000 miles) - extending the free scheduled maintenance plan.  We have never had the car in the shop for anything but routine oil changes and scheduled maintenance.  The tires are rated for 75,000 miles and have plenty of life left in them. We paid $42,015 for the car (new) in July 2011 (the car was made in May 2011).  The car has been perfect for our family of seven.  The kids loved the power rear lift gate and the ability to get in the car through the power split 50/50 3rd row seats!!

I drive a lot and the driver and passenger seats are VERY comfortable.

Here is the Car & Driver original write-up on the THEN NEW model:

The all-new 2011 Explorer shares it underpinnings with the Ford Flex and Taurus and the Lincoln MKS and MKT.  At 197.1 inches, the Explorer is 3.7 inches longer than the old vehicle and is 5.2 inches wider, at 78.9 inches. The car weighs 4900 pounds, or 212 pounds more than a Honda Pilot Touring 4WD. The bigger exterior translates to more head and shoulder room in the front two rows, as well as 21 cubic feet of luggage space behind the third row, up from 14.

Base Explorers are now front-wheel drive, a dramatic shift away from the old rear-drive layout.  The new 3.5-liter V-6 makes 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque.  All models get a standard six-speed automatic transmission, whereas the previous V-6 had a five-speed. Fully equipped, the new Explorer can tow 5000 pounds.

The new vehicle has a flotilla of airbags and stability-control programs.  The Explorer has a control-arm suspension at the front and a multilink layout at the rear. Compared with its platform-mate the Flex, however, the Explorer gets a number of changes for increased durability. Up front, there’s a new cradle for the suspension and engine, along with new control arms, knuckles, struts, and wheel bearings. At the back, there’s a new upright and the driveshafts are beefier. Electric power steering replaces a hydraulic rack.

Limited models come very well equipped, with features such as standard leather seats, 20-inch wheels and tires, and a rear-backup camera.   This car has the $4000 package adding power-folding third-row seat, heated and cooled front thrones, voice-activated navigation, a power liftgate, active park assist, HID headlights, and adaptive cruise control and collision warning. Other goodies include a dual-panel sunroof ($1595), and polished aluminum wheels ($595).

The Explorer certainly feels like an expensive vehicle. The interior is swathed in soft-touch materials, and the fit and finish is excellent. The gauge cluster is simple, and an LCD screen to the left of the speedometer is reconfigurable to show a tachometer, a fuel gauge, a coolant-temperature readout, or all-wheel-drive torque splits. With the optional MyFord touch system, the color-coded audio, navigation, phone, and climate settings on the screen in the center stack are also shown in a second instrument-panel LCD. Changing settings can be done by touching the slow-to-respond, main eight-inch screen or by using overly sensitive buttons located directly underneath. Legroom in the front and middle rows is generous, but the third row is tight for grown-ups.

The Explorer initially feels imposing from behind the wheel but drives smaller as the miles pile on. The ride is supple, and the vehicle is composed when being hurled around corners, thanks to direct and accurate steering and a well-controlled body. Too bad the stability system cuts in so early and can’t be switched off, or this thing could hang serious tail. The V-6 in the model we drove was unobtrusive most of the time—the Explorer is quieter at 70 mph and wide-open throttle than a Pilot.Performance is solid, with 0 to 60 mph coming up in 7.5 seconds and the standing quarter-mile arriving in 16.0 seconds at 89 mph, both of which are quicker than a Pilot Touring and the last V-8 Explorer we tested. Ford rally improved the braking on this Explorer - it went from 70 mph to zero in 174 feet, a 20-foot improvement over the previous model.

My fuel economy has been right in line with the rated 17 MPG City and 25 MPG Highway.

Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang to cost $52,995?

Mon, Dec 1 2014

The 2015 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang was one of the shining stars of this year's Los Angeles Auto Show. And the Blue Oval's latest muscle car might even have reason to burn a little brighter if a recent rumor about its price proves true. Best of all are rumors that an even more potent version of the Shelby is potentially on the way. According to Horsepower Kings citing unnamed Ford sources at the LA Auto Show, the 2015 GT350 carries a starting price of $52,995, and the Tech package adds a further $2,995 on top of that. There's also the claim of a Track package for an undisclosed price. However, it doesn't look like LA is the last we'll see of the newest Shelby because the source also alleges that a top-rung GT350R is under development with bigger brakes, modified aerodynamics and sportier tires. This rubber-burner is reported to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. Assuming these claims are correct, it puts the Shelby in fighting form against its two Chevrolet Camaro rivals. Ford reports that the GT350's 5.2-liter V8 pumps out over 500 horsepower and more than 400 pound-feet of torque. At $52,995, it would undercut by a couple of grand the $55,505 (before destination) base price of the 580-hp 2015 ZL1. The super 'Stang might also beat the 505-hp Z/28 with its power rating, while being vastly cheaper than the track-focused Camaro's $72,305 price. This could be quite the performance shoot-out.

More than 800,000 Fords recalled for faulty Takata airbags

Thu, Jan 12 2017

The Basics: Ford is recalling about 816,000 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles built in the US for faulty passenger-side Takata airbags. The affected vehicles were all built in North America, with 654,695 recalled vehicles in the US and 161,174 vehicles in Canada. A wide variety of cars, trucks, and SUVs are affected. This is a planned expansion of an earlier recall. 2005-09 and 2012 Ford Mustang 2005-06 Ford GT 2006-09 and 2012 Ford Fusion 2007-09 Ford Ranger 2007-09 Ford Edge 2006-09 and 2012 Lincoln Zephyr and Lincoln MKZ 2007-09 Lincoln MKX 2006-09 Mercury Milan The Problem: Like every other Takata recall, the problem rests with faulty airbags that can potentially expel shrapnel, injuring or killing vehicle occupants. Millions of vehicles from dozens of automakers are affected, so don't think that Ford is alone on this one. Injuries/Deaths: Ford stated in a press release that there have been no injuries or death linked to the vehicles in this recall. All in all, 11 deaths and 180 injuries across a variety of automakers have been linked to these Takata airbags. The fix: Ford will contact owners soon, and the affected vehicles will have their airbags replaced by a dealer at no additional charge. If you own one: Wait for contact from Ford, then head to the dealer to get a replacement. If you're wondering if your vehicle is affected, go to this Ford website and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The recall reference number is 17S01. Ford trademarking 'Mach 1,' possibly for Mustang

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

A legendary name might be accompanying the redesigned, 2015 Mustang when it finally makes its world debut - Mach 1. Stumbled upon by the team at Ford Authority, the Mach 1 title was found in a trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and would revive a name last used on the fourth-generation, 2003 Mustang.
While the the 2003 vintage was well and good, the Mach 1 is really remembered for a three-year run from 1969 to 1971 - it's best to just forget the emissions-choked 1972 to 1978 Mach 1s - when power output ranged from a modest 250 horsepower with the two-barrel, 351-cubic-inch Windsor V8 to "375 hp" (actual output was rumored to be well north of 400 horsepower) with the righteous, 429-cubic-inch Super Cobra Jet V8.
What does the title hold for the sixth-generation Mustang? It's tough to say. The fanatics at Ford Authority seem to think Mach 1 could take the place of the Shelby GT500 at the top of the Mustang hierarchy, which sounds like a valid argument. At the same time, we could see the SVT Cobra moniker returning for the flagship model, and the Mach 1 doing battle with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (unless the Boss 302 were to return). Confounding things is the historical precedent - the Mach 1 was responsible for the death of the Mustang GT in 1969, so it might make sense as a volume performance model.
