2004 Ford Explorer Xlt...4.0l V6...4x4...needs Work, But Worth Fixng on 2040-cars
Mount Holly, New Jersey, United States
Listed for sale is this 2004 Ford Explorer XLT with approximately 119K miles. The vehicle is in good condition inside and out. The interior shows some wear and tear, but the leather seats and carpet are free of rips. The exterior is also in very good condition. There is paint peeling from the end of the hood caused by the wind visor that was recently removed.
The vehicle will need some mechanical work. A newer transmission was installed about 4 weeks. Once the transmission was installed, the vehicle shifted perfectly, but it had no park. It would rolled if the vehicle was not on a flat surface, but all the other gears worked perfectly. Now, the reverse only works some of the time. I had several mechanics said this has to do with the linkage, which could be caused if the transmission wasn't installed properly. The car was just recently serviced and tuned-up. In addition, both catalytic convertors were replaced, but both O2 sensors will need to be replaced. This is a very nice vehicle overall, and if you compare, you would see this vehicle retails for $5500 to $6000. So it's worth repairing. Again, we don't believe it's the transmission, but not 100% sure, which is why the reserve is set as low as it is. Just in case it does need a transmission--the cost of a newer transmission and installation is between $850 to $1000. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks and Good Luck! NOTE: $300 Deposit due within 24 hours and full payment in 3 days. |

Volvo to shake off Ford ties with new platforms, engines
Sat, 23 Feb 2013
It would seem Volvo is finally getting around to throwing all of Ford's things out of the apartment. Automotive News reports the Swedish automaker is preparing to unleash a range of new engines as well as a fresh platform designed entirely in house. The powerplants include an all-new four-cylinder engine set to bow before the end of this year before arriving in the US by 2014. Shortly thereafter, the world should get its first glimpse at the next-generation XC60, which will the company's first model to make use of the Volvo scalable platform architecture (SPA). US buyers can expect to see that machine on their roads by early 2015.
The next V70 and S80 will also use the SPA, though those models will carry V90 and S90 designations when they hit dealer floors. But that doesn't mean Volvo has completely weened itself off of Ford technology. The V40 will continue to ride on Ford bones until the model's next chassis can be co-developed between Volvo and Geely.
This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum
Tue, Aug 27 2019Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Many of them will need work, depending on quality standards, but this seems like a golden opportunity to find a classic car without leaving a bank account in shambles. The auctions are open for bidding online now, and the full auction will take place on September 14. Check out the full listings and bid at VanDerBrink Auctions.
Social media star Scott Monty leaves Ford
Thu, 22 May 2014It seems weird to think that an automaker could have a social media star, but Ford does. Or at least it did. Scott Monty, its Global Digital Communications Manager, led the company's team for almost six years and forged a reputation as being one of the most talented people in corporate social media. But the guru recently announced that he would be leaving the automaker for an undisclosed job elsewhere.
"I just decided the time was right. I am going to take a little time with my family, and I am going to start on a new adventure pretty soon," said Monty in an interview with AdWeek. He also explained a little about his theory of how companies should use social media. In his opinion, it should be a chance to go beyond standard marketing and build a relationship with people. Businesses need to have a broad focus for its online message, and using just one service isn't enough to be successful.
Under his guidance, Ford expanded its Facebook presence significantly. According to AdWeek, it launched the 2010 Explorer on the popular site. Also, when the company wanted to investigate selling electric models, it initially gauged the public's reaction on Facebook and then advertised them there first. Monty has been a major supporter of Twitter as well to broaden the company's communication with the public.
