I am selling my 2001 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer All Wheel Driver ( AWD )SUV, I am only selling it because I am getting married on September 14th and I am hoping to free up some money for it. I have four other vehicles hence the low miles. This Explorer is fully loaded, it has factory leather seats ( not heated ), sunroof that works as it should, the factory compass and temperature guage works as it should- you can see it in the pictures along with the sunroof. It has an aftermarket Pioneer CD player and it also has a 6 disc cd changer that came with it from the factory in the arm rest, it was working before I put the aftermark CD player in it.
The Exterior: As you can see it has a 4 inch lift that was professionally installed in 2008 it does have a newer set of meaty Hankook tires. The paint and body are in good shape it does have a few typical dents and dings from being driven. However there is NO RUST on the body and the undercarrage is very clean and rust free as well, which you can see in the pics. I have been very meticulous about keeping it clean and waxed. The factory rims have also been treated and cleaned every year and still look sharp. I do have 2 spare tires and rims for the Explorer, you will also note the extras. This Explorer comes with an aftermarket grill guard and top luggage rack also a few additional lights that do work, the ones on the grill work on a switch- the ones on the luggage rack will need to be hooked back up
The Interior: The interior is good shape, showing typical wear for being 12 years old and being used as family vehicle, I have kept it clean and vaccumed, also treated with Armorall, The leather seats are in good shape, however the drivers seat does have a small crack on the upper right hands side which you can see in the pics. This Explorer is also equiped with font and side airbags, dual climate control for the front and back. I also still have the factory cargo shield for the back. It does not have the 3rd row seating.
The motor: Is a 302 5.0L V8, It does have an upgraded K&N Air intake, the oil has been changed as it should. The battery is 2 years old, but does not have any problems. The transmission shifts as it should, the brakes are newer and all work as they should. The exhuast may or may not need to be replaced in the near future, it does have a slight barley noticable noise at low idle, however it does disipate once you put it in drive and take off.
Hopefully I have answered any questions,I have described this vehicle the best I can please keep in mind it is 12 years old, it is in good shape but you are not bidding on a brand new vehicle it has been a very good vehicle for me, very reliable and great in snow and ice, especially in significant accumulations. I have taken my family of four on many long trips with out hesitation and I would still do the same. I live close to Peoria Illinois, and Rock Island and I am about 2 hours south of Chicago. I would be willing to meet winning bidder if it helps with in a reasonable distance from my house, I will accept payments in cash or certified check ( but will need to speak to your bank for exchanging). Feel free to email me with any questions.
Thanks for looking

Autoblog Technology of the Year Award Special | Autoblog Podcast #758
Thu, Dec 1 2022This episode of the Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore, Road Test Editor Zac Palmer and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. The trio begin by discussing the 2022 Technology of the Year award. Ford's Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch hauling/towing tech as tested in the F-150 Lightning won this year. Why the Ford won, how testing went down and Ford's competition — including the GMC Hummer EV and Genesis GV60 — are discussed. After diving through the Technology of the Year award testing, the three take on this week's news. A mysterious vehicle based on the Corvette (that isn't a Corvette) is supposedly on its way. Audi is giving us "Performance" versions of the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback. Plus, we discuss a recent study that provides data for the 10 longest lasting vehicles on the road today. After the news, the crew dive into the cars they've been driving this week. Greg's been behind the wheel of a Nissan Pathfinder, while Jeremy and Zac have been driving some plug-in hybrids, including the Lexus NX 450h+ and Autoblog's long-term BMW 330e xDrive. Ford made three big mistakes in calculating MPG for 2013 C-Max Hybrid
Tue, Jun 17 2014It's been a rough time for the official fuel economy figures for the Ford C-Max Hybrid. When the car was released in 2012, Ford made a huge deal about how it would beat the Toyota Prius V, which was rated at 42 combined miles per gallon, 44 city and 40 highway. The Ford? 47 mpg across the board. How did Ford come to this place, where its Prius-beater turned into an also-ran? Well, after hearing customer complaints and issuing a software update in mid-2013, then discovering a real problem with the numbers last fall and then making a big announcement last week that the fuel economy ratings of six different 2013 and 2014 model year vehicles would need to be lowered, the C-Max Hybrid has ended up at 40 combined, 42 city and 37 highway. In other words, the Prius trumps it, as daily drivers of those two vehicles have known for a long time. The changes will not only affect the window sticker, but also the effect that the C-Max Hybrid (and the five other Ford vehicles that had their fuel economy figures lowered last week) have on Ford's compliance with greenhouse gas and CAFE rules for model year 2013 and 2014. How did Ford come to this place, where its Prius-beater turned into an also-ran? There are two technical answers to that question, which we've got below, as well as some context for how Ford's mistakes will play out in the bigger world of green vehicles. Let's start with Ford's second error, which is easy to do since we documented it in detail last year (the first, needing to do a software update, was also covered). The basic gist is that Ford used the general label rule (completely legally) to test the Fusion Hybrid and use those numbers to figure out how efficient the C-Max Hybrid is. That turned out to be a mistake, since the two vehicles are different enough that their numbers were not comparable, despite having the same engine, transmission and test weight, as the rules require. You can read more details here. Ford's Said Deep admitted that the TRLHP issue is completely separate from the general label error from last year. Now let's move on to last week's announcement. What's interesting is that the new recalculation of the MPG numbers – downward, of course – was caused by a completely separate issue, something called the Total Road Load Horsepower (TRLHP). Ford's Said Deep admitted to AutoblogGreen that the TRLHP issue had nothing to do with the general label error from last year.
Ken Block hoons his Ford F-150 RaptorTrax on the slopes
Wed, 08 Oct 2014Ken Block drives Fords. Hoons the heck out of 'em, actually. Mostly Fiestas, but also the occasional Focus or Mustang. But earlier this year, the Gymkhana guru revealed his baddest Ford yet: an F-150 SVT Raptor on tracks. And true to form, here he is putting it to the test in the latest video from Monster Energy and Hoonigan Racing.
Filmed at Baldface Lodge in Nelson, BC, the video pairs Block up with snowboarders Zak Hale and Ethan Deiss for some deep-powder action. You'll want to watch the video for yourself, but the bottom line is that the RaptorTrax beats the heck out of waiting on line for the ski lift. It's enough to make us start to look forward to winter... almost.
