Up for auction is my '97 Explorer.  The truck runs and drives like a top.  I'm getting rid of it because I got a different truck and don't need it anymore.  I've had the truck since last spring.  I bought it with a blown motor and replaced it with the M6007-x50 engine from Ford Racing along with several other parts along the way.  I also bought the truck with some body damage that I never repaired which I will address further on in the description.  Mechanically the only issue with the truck is an ABS problem I haven't addressed.  The code is for B1202: Rear dump valve circuit malfunction.  The truck is still used on a ocasionaly, so the mileage will be slightly higher.

Mechanical: The truck runs and drives true.  No wondering, no vibration.   I've put 10K miles on the new engine.  When I changed the engine I changed some parts with it which I will list. Engine/trans mounts. Torque Monster headers, 3" Mac catback exhaust, and hollowed secondary cats. The suspension was overhauled at the same time because I did a TT lift.  I replaced the front shocks with stock Monroes.  The rear I used Superlift shocks with a longer stroke to accommodate the longer play from using Warrior shackles.  I also replaced the rear springs, spring plates, all rear hardware, both front upper control arms, and front sway bar links.  American Racing 15x8 aluminum wheels with BFG AT/TA 31X10.50X15s and full time spare on the stock alloy wheel.  The truck came with the 3.73 LS rear, but not the towing package.  Early this summer I had the D/S CV shaft replaced.

Exterior:  As mentioned the truck has some body damage.  There is a large dent in the P/S fender.  The paint has chipped here but it has not rusted.  There small dent in the front P/S of the hood right behind the bull bar that has rusted.  Below this is a crack in the header panel underneath the grill and a small gouge in the plastic in the bumper.  I believe this was all caused by the bull bar being pushed into the truck but it all happened before I owned the truck so I can't be positive.   The D/S of the truck appears to have been keyed across both doors and into the quarter panel, no rust here.  There is rust on the back of both sill panels under the rear doors.   It's not that extensive so it should still be manageable.  There is a bulbar on the front with detachable brush guards over the headlights, I do not know the brand.   The truck has the tracks for a roof rack, but I do not have the cross bars.

Interior:  The interior is in ok shape overall.  The drivers seat has a tear in the stitching on the bottom but the seat is very much in one piece.  The other seats are all in good condition as well as the carpet and roof.  The slider for the sunroof has the liner dropping off of it.  The door panels, side panels, and dash are all in great shape.  The vents on the lift gate panel are cracked on one side.  All the windows work.  The P/S/F window is alittle slow.  The Blend door motor clicks, I've read its not a terrible repair but it doesn't bother me so I didn't bother fixing it.  Heat and A/C work properly both in the front and back.  Both front seats are power with power lumber and both work properly.  The shift indicator is out of adjustment and I haven't gotten around to fix it.

Any other questions feel free to message me and I will answer them as best I can.  I can also provide more pictures upon request.

The truck is listed for pickup only however I can tow it within a reasonable distance at purchaser cost.  Please speak with me prior to auction ending if your interested in this.

The truck is being sold as is with no warranty.  I have described the truck to the best of my ability.

Ford files trademark for 'EcoBeast' moniker

Mon, Dec 29 2014

Ford has done some performance stuff with its EcoBoost line of vehicles, most notably with its Focus and Fiesta ST, the new, turbocharged Mustang and the luke-warm Taurus SHO and F-150 Tremor, but it's kind of avoided going wholly bonkers. That could be set to change quite soon, judging by a trademark filing with Uncle Sam. Ford has registered the name EcoBeast with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, listing it as "automobiles and automobile engines," according to the team at Motorlix, which discovered the filing. As always, it bears mentioning that companies are constantly filing trademarks, even if a good or service never emerges with said name. We agree with Motorlix, though – it seems highly unlikely Ford is going to just let this name languish. What vehicle or engine will wear this new badge is the real question. We're leaning towards something F-150 related, based on our last round of spy photos of the new SVT Raptor, although it's impossible to say for certain what the Blue Oval has planned. Here's hoping we find out in just a few weeks when Ford brings basically all of its performance merchandise to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Until then, let us know what you think Ford is planning with the EcoBeast.

Ford's Explorer-based Police Interceptor to get 365-hp EcoBoost option

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Speeders beware, the police are going to be getting quite a bit faster. Ford has just announced that it will be offering its 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged, EcoBoost V6 in the Explorer Police Interceptor. The new engine will be joining the existing 3.7-liter V6. The 365-horsepower, 350-pound-foot mill should be familiar to consumers as the powerplant that's found in the Ford Taurus SHO (and its LEO equivalent, the Taurus Police Interceptor) and the Ford Explorer Sport. It should also provide quite a kick in the pants to officers used to the naturally aspirated 3.7 and its 304 ponies and 279 pound-feet of torque.
The move to the more potent powerplant was born out of all the equipment officers need to carry on a day-to-day basis. These days, there's so much stuff that police need on a regular basis, that there's a genuine market for a faster Police Interceptor Utility, as it's known officially. The Explorer-based cruiser has already accounted for 68 percent of Ford's LEO sales in 2013, and that's with just the 3.7, and we'd only expect that number to increase once the twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 is available. Ford won't offer up any indication of what the take rate will be on the new engine, but we're guessing it'll be fairly high.
The success of the Explorer PI couldn't have come at a better time for Ford. The decision to end Crown Victoria production was not a popular one with police, and combined with Chevrolet and Dodge diving into the LEO market feet first, Ford hasn't been performing as well as it's wanted to. The Explorer has been helping it turn around, though. And with the inclusion of the EcoBoost, Ford also has a legit competitor for the Chevrolet Tahoe on the big utility side of the police market.

Carmakers, NHTSA to unveil auto-emergency braking agreement tomorrow

Wed, Mar 16 2016

Happy St. Patrick's Day Eve. Tomorrow, there will be green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and automatic emergency braking for all. Weird combo, we know. But on St. Patty's we can expect an official announcement from a pact of automakers making auto-braking systems standard equipment by 2022. That's per a report from Reuters, which cites three sources familiar with the plans. Originally announced in September 2015 by 10 automakers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the agreement is expected to be even larger when the details are unveiled tomorrow. According to Reuters, the manufacturers of 99 percent of the US domestic market's vehicles will be represented by the new agreement. It's believed that standard AEB systems could prevent thousands of accidents across the country. Expect more on the official announcement when it's made. Related Video:
