You are bidding on a 1994 Ford Explorer Sport. I am the 2nd owner and it has spent the majority of its time in the Southwest (New Mexico and Southern California) and is virtually rust-free. The previous owner was a stickler for maintenance as I am, so it has been well maintained with the exception of the A/C. The compressor locked up last year, and because it is a secondary vehicle for me and I don't use the A/C that often anyway, I didn't spend the money to have it repaired. The only other mechanical defect that I can think of is with the rear wiper motor - the teeth that engage the arm are stripped and the motor will need to be replaced to remedy that. It was that way when I bought it and I didn't care so I didn't replace it. Aside from those two issues, it is an EXCELLENT vehicle. I drove it from Baltimore Maryland to my home here in Kentucky and averaged 26 mpg...I couldn't believe it! It starts and drives well. It is a 5-spd manual transmission and shifts well. The tires are in very good condition and should last for many more thousands of miles. It does have a small dent above the passenger side rear wheel opening. The paint is not broken so it may be able to be repaired without requiring repainting. I have represented it to the best of my ability. Please ask any questions before bidding. Ford to build Explorer in Russia to meet demand [w/video]
Fri, 12 Apr 2013The current Ford Explorer is sold in more than 64 countries, and this three-row vehicle continues to grow in popularity worldwide. To keep up with demand, Ford began producing the Explorer at Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant in Tatarstan, Russia, a joint venture facility. This partnership will build Russian-market Explorers only, and production of export vehicles not destined for Russian buyers will continue to be built at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago.
Before this plant went online, Ford would ship Explorers to Russia (and other regions around the world) as partially assembled knock-down units where final assembly would eventually take place. While there is no indication as to how many Explorers Ford Sollers will build for Russia, Ford did add that exports of the SUV were up 65 percent last year (from 2011) accounting for more than 24,000 units.

George W. Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 fizzles with $300,000 bid at Barrett-Jackson [UPDATE: w/video]
Sun, 20 Jan 2013Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
All proceeds will be sent to the Fisher House Foundation, so at least it's $300K going to a good cause. Feel free to check out the live image gallery above, which includes shots showing Leno's skills helming the auction, and read through the official auction description below.

Truckmakers squabbling over who can sell Jimmy Fallon a pickup
Sat, 08 Mar 2014Snagging a celebrity endorsement is a big deal for automakers, as evidenced by the recent efforts of the Detroit Three to try and woo The Tonight Show's newest host, Jimmy Fallon, into one of their trucks.
After announcing during Wednesday night's show that he was in the market for a pickup truck, Fallon set off a firestorm of efforts on Twitter, with both Ford and Chevrolet petitioning the funnyman to test out a truck. According to Ad Age, Ford recommended the King Ranch edition of its next-generation F-150 while the show was still airing. Chevy, meanwhile, waited until the next morning to pitch a Silverado to Fallon.
The winner of this social media feeding frenzy, though, was Ram. Promoting a variation of its "Guts, Glory, Ram" tagline, the Auburn Hills-based manufacturer created the hashtag #GUTSGLORYFallon. It even went so far as to park a Ram 1500 outside 30 Rockefeller Center in New York, where The Tonight Show is filmed. On the back of the Ram sat a sign, reading "Big enough, Jimmy? Test it out," referencing a joke from the Wednesday show.
