2002  Ford Explorer XLT    desireable. 7 passenger 3rd row seating option  !!      Loaded !!  Some of the options other than 3rd row seat include: alarm system  power mirrors, windows seat & locks, front and rear heat a/c   overhead console   rear wiper   cassette & CD although i never tested the cassette cuz i dont own any  5 speed automatic transmission    4.0 liter engine, , XLT trim   This is my wifes car and has been a very dependable car for us.   recent repairs include :

Tie rods    battery   serpentine belt   brake pads   rotors   transmission cooler  almost $800    worth of new tires     alignment

This car is awesome in the snow, automatic 4 wheel drive  no hubs to turn, no button to push no lever to pull.    I drove this threw every snowstorm this past winter to get to my plow truck and it handles great in the snow with no getting stuck  with the new firestone destination A/T tires.

Personal issue  forces the sale of this car,  it is not perfect but its pretty clean  but does have high mileage  (165,xxx)  the leather interior is in nice shape, car has power everything.  A/C works but not very cold probably needs a recharge.  this was bought new by the owner of my company and was his wifes car till it was reassigned as a "company car"(hence the high miles, its made a few trips from Mass to Detroit)  untill I bought it  .     you can see a difference in the paint match from the front to the rear door, from a  fenderbender before i had it.         Tires are a little larger and more aggresive than "standard equiptment"  but they are not too loud on the highway. One thing I was getting ready to take care of before the recent events that took place is that it Does have some surface rust starting inside the door sill as you can see in the pics.    Dont have much more to say about it,  come take a look at it in person.  car is certainly not perfect but its been good for us.    sold as is where it is. any transportation or delivery will be up to the winning bidder.   a $500 non-refundable deposit threw paypal will be required within 24 hours of auction end.     NO EXCEPTIONS     (this is due to nitemare stories I've heard of with people bidding on a vehicle without looking at it first, then backing out.   the seller is responsible for all the Ebay fees as soon as the item comes up as sold..... so please if you are interested take the time to come look at the car and make sure its what you are looking for  BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID)  AGAIN...  Please come look at the car or have some one else look for you ,I will not accept the deposit when you come to pick up the car . any and all inspections should be done before bidding, and deposit must be recieved prior to pick-up.

If you choose to use a shipping company I will be happy to assist with getting the car ready for pick-up      but payment must be made in full and cleared before vehicle will be released.  The $500 deposit  is all that I will except threw paypal  The balance will need to be made in CASH     if you show up with a money order or any type of check for the balance you will not be leaving with the car till I have the cash in hand.  this unfortunatley  is neccesary due to the amout of scammers   and prince's from other countries out there trying to pull a fast one.      Take a look at the pics , come look at it in person  if you have the cash and want the car bid, if you dont have the cash , cant comply with my requirements or are just not sure,     I may have another vehicle listed as well. at the same time if that happens which ever one gets a bid first I will pull the auction on the other.  any questions feel free to contact me.

Jay Leno and Lee Iacocca reflect on 50 years of Ford Mustang

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

Lee Iacocca oversaw the birth of the Ford Mustang back in the 1960s, rocketing the new pony car nameplate into million-unit sales territory in its initial go-round and cementing its place in the history books. Thus, we were immediately drawn to this latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage, in which the funnyman hosts Iacocca for a look at the origins of Ford's most iconic sports car. The legendary auto exec is looking notably more frail than when we last saw him, but if we're being asked around as a video guest when we're 89 years old, we'll consider that evidence of a life well lived.
Serial No. 0001 is on hand for the occasion for Jay's romp through history, as is the historic Mustang 1 showcar from 1962. Of course, the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT (in prototype form) makes an appearance at the end of the episode with chief engineer Dave Pericak, as well. Get some, below.

249 reasons you want to go to Goodwood Revival

Sat, Sep 16 2023

At its most basic, Goodwood Revival is a long weekend worth of car races featuring cars made before 1970. There are lots of those, though, including some pretty great ones all over the world. But nothing is like Goodwood Revival because it's so much more than "just" vintage car racing.  First, you have to look the part. Attendees are strongly encouraged to dress in period clothing from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, with a strict dress code enforced should you want to enter the paddock. The goal is to create a more authentic atmosphere to match the cars and the meticulously restored and recreated paddocks, grandstands and other facilities of the reborn Goodwood circuit. Now, the dress code was relaxed this year since the Saturday was literally the hottest Sept. 9 on record in that part of England, and the organizers didn't want people dropping dead because they needed to wear an ascot. Some people definitely took the "relaxed" bit too far, but there was still plenty of atmosphere maintained. It really does make a big difference, as those "relaxed" individuals were often akin to seeing a Starbucks cup in a scene from "Game of Thrones."  You can see what I came up with below along with former Autoblog editor Reese Counts and various other Goodwood attendees. Second, there's the parking lot. But I'll let this entire separate post detail that. Third, there's the enormous carnival-like area featuring vintage-looking rides and various boutiques. Both of those are on the outside portion of the track, and honestly, you could easily just spend your entire day in the parking lot and carnival/shopping area without even crossing over into the circuit area. There you'll find more shops, food and drink opportunities, plus obviously, race car paddocks and the track itself.  Fourth, there are airplanes! I heard there are fewer than in the past, but they're there and they're cool. The Goodwood circuit started out life as the perimeter road around the World War II airfield RAF Westhampnett.  Fifth, with all of the above, Goodwood Revival really is fun for the whole family. It isn't just a bunch of old guys sitting around in lawn chairs. There are plenty of women and adorably dressed children, including babies in vintage prams. It's also not an event that's exclusively for the uber rich, even if they are certainly in full force given who has the sort of money needed to go vintage racing.

Why the Detroit Three should merge their engine operations

Tue, Dec 22 2015

GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne would love to see his company merge with General Motors. But GM's board of directors essentially told him to go pound sand. So now what? The boardroom battle started when Mr. Marchionne published a study called Confessions of a Capital Junkie. In it, Sergio detailed the amount of capital the auto industry wastes every year with duplicate investments. And he documented how other industries provide superior returns. He's right, of course. Other industries earn much better returns on their invested capital. And there's a danger that one day the investors will turn their backs on the auto industry and look to other business sectors where they can make more money. But even with powerful arguments Marchionne couldn't convince GM to take over FCA. And while that fight may now be over, GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. No doubt this suggestion will send purists into convulsions, but so be it. The Detroit Three should seriously consider merging their powertrain operations, even though that's a sacrilege in an industry that still considers the engine the "heart" of the car. These automakers have built up considerable brand equity in some of their engines. But the vast majority of American car buyers could not tell you what kind of engine they have under the hood. More importantly, most car buyers really don't care what kind of engine or transmission they have as long as it's reliable, durable, and efficient. Combining that production would give the Detroit Three the kind of scale that no one else could match. There are exceptions, of course. Hardcore enthusiasts care deeply about the powertrains in their cars. So do most diesel, plug-in, and hybrid owners. But all of them account for maybe 15 percent of the car-buying public. So that means about 85 percent of car buyers don't care where their engine and transmission came from, just as they don't know or care who supplied the steel, who made the headlamps, or who delivered the seats on a just-in-time basis. It's immaterial to them. And that presents the automakers with an opportunity to achieve a staggering level of manufacturing scale. In the NAFTA market alone, GM, Ford, and FCA will build nearly nine million engines and nine million transmissions this year.
