I purchased this 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with the intentions of fixing it after i recently rolled my blazer. However, I decided to go a different route and sell it as a whole. This SUV has the powerful 4.0 SOHC engine. The previous owner who had the accident with it, didn't have insurance to get it fixed. With that in mind, it does have a clear title and NOT A SALVAGE TITLE. Thats why I decided this would be a good candidate for me. I'm trying to figure out the anti theft light that keeps flashing that won't let me start the vehicle. It needs a drivers door, entire front clip, roof repair and repair to the front cowl area. I took alot of pictures so you can see what needs to be done. The front bumper and grill area weren't hit head on so the air bags did not deploy. The tires are about 40%. It is missing 3 center caps for the wheels and there is no serpentine belt on it. I had thought of parting this suv out, because of all the interest I've had in the parts, especially the engine. The box is nice, but does have a minor issue on the left rear corner at the top by back of the tailgate. Three of the doors are in nice shape, the interior is decent. The leather arm rest on the center console is cracked up. All the power windows, locks, sunroof, mirrors, lights and power rear window all work very well. The drivers headlight is broke out. The drivers door outer door handle is broke from the accident, but still opens from the inside. I do not know the code for this truck. The tailgate is in great shape. The key fob works as well. There isn't an owners manual. This vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Feel free to come inspect the vehicle before you bid. Any questions, feel free to give me a call, 262-745-6353 Tim.

As of today, January 26, 2013, i was able to get the Ford Sport Trac running. The actual miles are 88,197 on this vehicle. I was mislead by previous owner due to the divorce they went through. This vehicle runs great. it does need a brake line fixed on top due to the hood hitting and bending the line. It also will need a new radiator, it is cracked at the top. If you are the winning bidder, you can hear the vehicle run, but will need a battery. I used the battery out of my truck to start it today.

Next Lincoln Navigator to drop V8 in favor of V6, but Ford Expedition might get both
Tue, 12 Mar 2013A great many buyers fled from full-size body-on-frame SUVs to car-based crossovers in large measure to save fuel. But that doesn't mean there's still not a buying audience for more traditional truck-based utility vehicles, and those consumers doubtlessly wouldn't mind saving some dollars at the pump, too. According to Motor Trend, those shoppers might be in luck.
That's because the magazine has confirmed that Ford isn't walking away from the full-size SUV segment, and it's poised to do something about its offerings' economy ratings, too. According to MT, global Lincoln director Matt VanDyke has hinted that the next Navigator may drop two cylinders and go with a V6 model - the current model gets just 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway from its 5.4-liter V8. The obvious fitment would be Ford's 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, an engine that has spread like kudzu throughout the rest of the Blue Oval's large vehicle lineup.
Downsized turbocharged engines like Ford's EcoBoost franchise have come under fire as of late for not delivering their EPA fuel economy ratings, but their benefits extend beyond consumption - the 3.5L offers superior power and a better torque curve than the naturally aspirated V8. MT also suggests that Ford's 3.7-liter V6 could form the base engine for the next Navi - it has similar horsepower but a lot less torque than the current 5.4L. That may be less of a problem with the next generation tipped to go on a diet, which could level the playing field somewhat.
Ford says C-Max mpg reduction has hurt sales
Tue, 22 Apr 2014The Ford C-Max is having a rough time. Sales for the five-door hybrid hatchback were down 39.1 percent in March to 2,295 cars, and sales from January through March were down 42.5 percent to 5,566 units. In an interview with The Detroit News, Ford Americas boss Joe Hinrichs places the blame on lowering the model's fuel economy rating.
"We're definitely seeing consideration on C-Max decline over time. We need to reinvest in the product because it's a great car," said Hinrichs to The Detroit News.
The company was hit with bad publicity over the C-Max when owners in multiple states filed class action lawsuits that alleged the cars weren't able to meet the stated fuel economy. Ford eventually re-rated the model from 47 miles per gallon city, highway and combined to 40 mpg city, 45 mpg highway and 43 mpg combined. To soften the blow of the change, the automaker sent checks to the owners to make up some of the difference. Initially, Ford claimed that demand remained strong for the hybrid. However, the latest sales figures and Hinrichs' statement seem to show the opposite.
Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average
Tue, 11 Jun 2013We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).
