THE EXTERIOR SHOWS VERY LITTLE WEAR ,REALLY JUST A FEW SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE ON THE BUMPER COVERS OTHER THEN THAT ITS PRETTY NICE ,THE PAINT IS REALLY GOOD THE BODY IS RUST FREE AS WELL AS THE UNDERCARRIGE AND FRAME.. THE ENGINE RUNS GREAT ,THE TRANS SHIFTS SMOOTH,THE 4WD WORKS WITH OUT ISSUE... THE TIRES ARE IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE AS WELL SHOWING ABOUT 70% TREADLIFE WITH MINIMAL PREMATURE WEAR.. THE INTERIOR IS REALLY CLEAN AND DAMAGE FREE THERE ARE A FEW SMALL HOLES IN FLOOR MAT FROM MOUNTED EQUIPMENT BUT NO HOLES IN DASH HEADLINER OR SEATS!!! THIS EXPEDITION IS REALLY A LOOKER THO IT WAS USED IN A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY YOU REALLY WOULD HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING AND THE CONDITION DOESNT REFLECT EITHER .. I HAVE HAD THESE CARS AS MY OWN NUMEROUS TIMES AND HAVE YET TO SEE AN ISSUE .. THEY ARE BUILT WELL AND BUILT TOUGH TO HANDLE ALL SORTS OF INCLIMENT WEATHER AND TERRAIN... NHTSA closes Ford F-Series Super Duty steering probe without recall
Wed, 05 Feb 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation into 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, which was originally opened last year, has now ended without a recall. NHTSA was looking into steering failures on some 336,000 trucks.
The issue rested with the steering gear - NHTSA received five complaints of failures - which was redesigned in 2005. According to the report on the matter, investigators "found evidence of broken sector shaft gear teeth and piston damage consistent with incidents of single event overload."
NHTSA investigators, however, "found no evidence of fatigue or material property defects in any of the fractures. Analysis of complaint rates by vehicle build month showed no patterns indicating potential manufacturing quality issues and no difference before and after Ford introduced design changes to the input shaft and sector shaft seals in July 2007 to address potential leak concerns," according to the report, obtained by The Detroit News.
Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014
Tue, 08 Apr 2014If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.
