Foremost that I love it and hate to get rid of it but it has to go... I will likely miss tons of things that are great about this Excursion but will start with whats on top of my head and please feel free to ask questions. First, I bought this and started modifying it as a fun family vehicle but soon realized that it would make the ultimate Zombie Apocalypse Dooms Day Escape Vehicle. That is... Should the Poo ever hit the fan..! I have not finished all things I had conceptualized but here is a brief list of what I did so far: Body off frame to install New Head Gaskets and Head Studs. As most know who play around with 6.0L Power Strokes this was a first and A Must if you plan to make power with this platform. It never had any issues with the head gaskets but I knew what i wanted and it is now so called... "Bullet Proofed". -EGR Delete -New IPR Valve -New High pressure Oil Pump -New Garrett Powermax Turbo -Banks High Ram Intake, Intercooler, and Plumbing -FICM Update -Black Diamond 4" Turbo back Exhaust, Cat and Muffler Delete (original Cat Converter included with sale) -Custom Programmed SCT Tune -Skyjacker 6" suspension lift -Dick Cepek 20" Rims on 35" All Terrain Radials -Safari Rack and 8 KC HighLites (everything included to complete installation of lights not currently wired to switches) -Roof Mounted Matching Spare Tire -Off Road Jack, Shovel, Axe, and roof Mounted Generator (not shown in photos but included with auction) -TJM Snorkel (not connected to primary air intake but easily completed) -Zenon Headlights with smoked Head Lamp Assemblys -Rear Door Mounted 'Gun Vault' Gun Safe (Firearms shown in pics NOT included) -Big Sky Racks 2 Gun (ceiling mounted) Telescoping Gun Rack (Firearms shown in pics NOT included) -Heavy Duty Front Bush Bar and Aftermarket Grille -Kolpin Window Mounted Rifle Mounts (Left and right side) (Firearms shown in pics NOT included) -Clean Agent Fire Extinguisher (front passenger A Pillar) -Rear Door Mounted Fire Extinguisher -Glowshift Turbo Boost, EGT, and Trans Temp Gauges -Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors Much Much More...

Blue Oval's new Cargo cab-over rig is largest "One Ford" initiative yet
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The imposing commercial truck above has a feature that might be surprising to most Autoblog readers - a Blue Oval emblem on the front. Here in North America, Ford simply doesn't play in the eighteen-wheeler sandbox, but that doesn't mean that the Dearborn-based automaker is absent in the heavy hauling space in other parts of the globe. In fact, Ford presently fields two completely different big rig ranges under the Cargo moniker - one a product of an Eastern Europe/Turkey joint venture, and another from Brazil. But that's about to start changing with the advent of this new cab-over model seen here.
Unveiled in São Paulo, Brazil, this new generation of Cargo is perhaps the largest physical embodiment of CEO Alan Mulally's "One Ford" global streamlining strategy. Instead of multiple models, company engineers have developed a new single truck that it says will better meet the needs of truckers in all markets. Designed to compete in what's known as the "extra heavy-duty segment" elsewhere in the world, this Cargo was developed jointly by Ford engineering teams in Brazil, Turkey and Europe.
Specifics remain hard to come by (read: unreleased), but Ford is promising an all-new engine enabling hauling capability of up to 56 tons while still returning excellent fuel economy. Ford's global Cargo lineup will henceforth consist of a dozen models, but Ford tells Autoblog has no plans to bring this hot and heavy-duty action to North America.
2014 Ford F-150 gets CNG option
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Ford is toiling away, installing heavy-duty engine components into select 3.7-liter V6s to allow them to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) in addition to gasoline. That's nothing new, but now, Ford has announced that it will offer the 2014 F-150 with this engine configuration, bringing the Blue Oval's total number of CNG/LPG-friendly vehicles up to eight. The F-150 will be the only half-ton pickup on the market that can run on these gases.
Ford will charge $315 per vehicle to equip the optional engine, but the trucks won't be ready to run on the alternative fuels straight from the factory and must be upfitted with additional equipment. A Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier will install a separate fuel system for the compressed gases at a cost of $7,500 to $9,500, depending on fuel tank size. With the right-size tank, the F-150 equipped with the CNG/LPG-prepped engine can go 750 miles on one tank of gas, according to Ford, averaging 23 miles per gallon.
The practice of offering flex-fuel vehicles is gaining momentum as businesses take advantage of cheap gas. CNG can be bought for $2.11/gallon on average (per gasoline equivalent), and sometimes for as little as $1.00 in some parts of the US, Ford states. "With the money saved using CNG, customers could start to see payback on their investment in as little as 24 to 36 months," says Jon Coleman, Ford's fleet sustainability and technology manager. The automaker expects to sell a total of 15,000 CNG/LPG-prepped vehicles in the 2014 model year.
The next-generation wearable will be your car
Fri, Jan 8 2016This year's CES has had a heavy emphasis on the class of device known as the "wearable" – think about the Apple Watch, or Fitbit, if that's helpful. These devices usually piggyback off of a smartphone's hardware or some other data connection and utilize various onboard sensors and feedback devices to interact with the wearer. In the case of the Fitbit, it's health tracking through sensors that monitor your pulse and movement; for the Apple Watch and similar devices, it's all that and some more. Manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality. As evidenced by Volvo's newly announced tie-up with the Microsoft Band 2 fitness tracking wearable, car manufacturers are starting to explore how wearable devices will help drivers. The On Call app brings voice commands, spoken into the Band 2, into the mix. It'll allow you to pass an address from your smartphone's agenda right to your Volvo's nav system, or to preheat your car. Eventually, Volvo would like your car to learn things about your routines, and communicate back to you – or even, improvise to help you wake up earlier to avoid that traffic that might make you late. Do you need to buy a device, like the $249 Band 2, and always wear it to have these sorts of interactions with your car? Despite the emphasis on wearables, CES 2016 has also given us a glimmer of a vehicle future that cuts out the wearable middleman entirely. Take Audi's new Fit Driver project. The goal is to reduce driver stress levels, prevent driver fatigue, and provide a relaxing interior environment by adjusting cabin elements like seat massage, climate control, and even the interior lighting. While it focuses on a wearable device to monitor heart rate and skin temperature, the Audi itself will use on-board sensors to examine driving style and breathing rate as well as external conditions – the weather, traffic, that sort of thing. Could the seats measure skin temperature? Could the seatbelt measure heart rate? Seems like Audi might not need the wearable at all – the car's already doing most of the work. Whether there's a device on a driver's wrist or not, manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality.
