This is an awesome vehicle that I purchased for hunting, fishing and camping.  Unfortunately, family and business needs come first and I reluctantly have to part with this rig.  I purchased this truck with 150k miles on it and have taken meticulous care of it since.  It came with the EGR Delete kit, which is a costly but important modification for this year of the 6.0, and can increase the life of this engine dramatically.  It also already had the 4" turbo-back exhaust system and Bullydog cold air intake.  I have installed the "blue spring" fuel pressure regulator, which was another issue with these engines that caused them to not get enough fuel when under load.  I have a Bullydog Power Pup 10-stage programmer I will also include for the successful bidder.   The wheels are 18" Chrome plated and the tires are 325/65 Firestone Destination ATs with decent tread left.

This truck is a BRUTE, as illustrated by the heavy duty bumper guard up front, made of 1/4" steel.  I recently replaced the front hub assemblies and rotors, ($1800!!!) but otherwise it has been bulletproof.  4x4 works smoothly.  The truck was a Florida vehicle until last winter, but even though it is tagged with Minnesota plates, it still has seen very little road salt.  It's very clean.  I've owned 9 Powerstroke diesels and this is my sixth 6.0.  I know how to take care of them and I know their strengths and weaknesses.  This is a good one.  I would confidently take this truck anywhere.  I have another Powerstroke 6.0 pickup that is a "project" truck for me and it doesn't run as smooth as this one, but I need to keep a truck and don't need the SUV.

The steering is a little sloppy, as it needs some new rod ends, but it's aligned and doesn't dog track or anything.  The front bumper is the only real flaw on the truck, as the passenger side has a little dent on it.  If that was replaced, the body would be 99% straight.  The interior is worn where it typically is, on the drivers' seat, but otherwise just normal wear and tear.  Not a lot of stains, no rips, etc.  I will upload better interior pics or email them upon request.  I haven't had a chance to get pics during daylight since deciding to sell it.

"Subtle" would not be a good word to describe this truck.  It's loud and it stands out.  My kids named it "Big E" and their class mates think it's "cool".

I buy on Ebay, but not sold a lot, so I'm a little out of my comfort zone.  I will make one last "road trip" in this rig if you cannot pick this truck up, for a negotiated amount.

This is really a special interest vehicle and needs to go to someone that is specifically looking for this special American muscle!

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.

2015 Ford F-150 claims segment's best payload, towing ratings

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

While we are set to drive the new, 2015 Ford F-150 in the coming days, there's a big piece of news on the latest-generation of the Blue Oval's bread-and-butter pickup coming out of Dearborn, and it focuses on the truck's hauling and towing abilities.
The new F-150 will have a maximum payload of 3,300-pounds (V8 models), and, perhaps more importantly, a 12,200-pound tow rating (EcoBoost V6 models), which for the first time are compliant with the Society of Automotive Engineer's J2807 standards. Those best-in-class figures are significant feathers in Ford's cap as the Detroit Three continue duking it out for the title of top pickup.
"As founding members of the SAE trailer towing committee, we will meet SAE trailer towing standards," Ford's Aaron Miller told Autoblog.

Ford turns Navistar from truck business customer to rival

Mon, 19 May 2014

There is a showdown brewing in the medium-duty truck segment next year as Ford prepares to launch its all-new, in-house engineered 2016 F-650 and F-750. It finally marks the end of the Blue Diamond joint venture between Ford and Navistar and, making the two entities direct competitors instead of partners.
Ford announced the end of the joint venture in an investor report in 2011, but it didn't reveal the new F-650 and F-750 until the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, in March. Unlike the current, Mexican-built models, the new generation will be built in Avon Lake, OH, starting in mid-2015.
The challenge from Ford comes during a rough patch for Navistar. The company had a $248 million loss in the first quarter, according to The Wall Street Journal, and its medium-duty truck market share is currently down to 26 percent, from 36 percent in 2011. Building the previous-generation Fords brought in about $400 million a year to Navistar, according to the WSJ. To take on its former partner, Navistar plans to offer its International brand of medium-duty vehicles with more engine and transmission options to customers. It even struck a deal with Cummins to put its diesels in some of the models.
