I have for sale a beautiful 2005 black Limited Diesel Ford Excursion. I am the second owner but it looks as if it is still new. All the leather is in great condition and has little wear marks and no tears in it at all. It currently has 149,570 miles on it and it should not receive many if any more as I have had it cleaned and put it away in the garage to be sold. I have never had any major problems with it at all and have just put a new fuel pressure control module on a few months back. The transmission is solid and the engine runs like a dream. It has a 4" turbo back MBRP exhaust system on it which sounds great and it is tuned and comes with an SCT Livewire tuner. It will give you significant gains in power and depending on how you drive can increase your MPG as well. It has a 45 gallon diesel tank for the long hauls as well. I have also added 20" Fuel Throttle rims and 285/65/20 BF Goodwrench KO all terrains which have about 50% tread left on them. Even with the tires being all terrains the truck still drives like a dream and is in overall very good condition. It has a few little marks and scratches on her but as is expected from normal use. One is on the back barn door in the middle as you can see in the picture and another is on the right side of the front bumper as you can see in the pictures. I have always had the oil changed regularly and and everything is in proper running condition. She is loaded down with full power and all equipment options current for the time it was made as it is a Limited package. Some things this includes is rear back up sensors, Heated driver and passenger seats, driver memory seats, power driver and passenger seats, power windows, power locks, privacy tint, rear entertainment system and that's just for starters as it is loaded down with much more.

Is it time for American carmakers to give up on dual-clutch transmissions? [w/poll]

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Last week, in the midst of Detroit's first days seeking relief in Chapter 9 of the bankruptcy code, Automotive News contributor Larry P. Vellequette penned an editorial suggesting that American car companies raise the white flag on dual clutch transmissions and give up on trying to persuade Americans to buy cars fitted with them. Why? Because, Vellequette says, like CVT transmissions, they "just don't sound right or feel right to American drivers." (Note: In the article, it's not clear if Vellequette is arguing against wet-clutch and dry-clutch DCTs or just dry-clutch DCTs, which is what Ford and Chrysler use.) The article goes on to state that Ford and Chrysler have experimented with DCTs and that both consumers and the automotive press haven't exactly given them glowing reviews, despite their quicker shifts and increased fuel efficiency potential compared to torque-converter automatic transmissions.
Autoblog staffers who weighed in on the relevance of DCTs in American cars generally disagreed with the blanket nature of Vellequette's statement that they don't sound or feel right, but admit that their lack of refinement compared to traditional automatics can be an issue for consumers. That's particularly true in workaday cars like the Ford Focus and Dodge Dart, both of which have come in for criticism in reviews and owner surveys. From where we sit, the higher-performance orientation of such transmissions doesn't always meld as well with the marching orders of everyday commuters (particularly if drivers haven't been educated as to the transmission's benefits and tradeoffs), and in models not fitted with paddle shifters, it's particularly hard for drivers to use a DCT to its best advantage.
Finally, we also note that DCT tuning is very much an evolving science. For instance, Autoblog editors who objected to dual-clutch tuning in the Dart have more recently found the technology agreeable in the Fiat 500L. Practice makes perfect - or at least more acceptable.

Solid axle? What solid axle?
I was fully prepared to embark on a seven-day journey down a rabbit hole of broken bolts, internet hearsay and consternation.
This should not have gone this easily. Having a long and checkered history of simple projects punctuated by much wailing and gnashing of knuckles, I was fully prepared to embark on a seven-day journey down a rabbit hole of broken bolts, internet hearsay and consternation when I finally decided to lay hands on the '89 Mustang with the goal of relieving the car of its stock rear axle. Instead, it took less than a full morning's worth of work to carve the old 7.5-inch solid axle from its moorings and mock up something, well, different.

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.
