I have for sale a very clean 2002 Ford Excursion Limited 4wd.  It has the proven Triton 6.8l v10 engine with only 121k on it.  I purchased this truck about a year ago, but due to a job change, I am forced to sell it.

During the time I've had it, I've only put on about 3k miles due to it being a weekend driver.  At the time of purchase the truck recieved 4 brand new BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, a new steering stabilizer (common problem), idler arm (also a common problem), and of course an alignment.  I also changed the oil with mobil 1 synthetic and a motorcraft oil filter.  I also conditioned the leather with lexol. The belts, hoses, and battery were changed by the dealer just prior to my purchase.  I had the truck inspected locally by my mechanic and per his recommendation I changed the brake fluid and lubed the slip yoke (common issue) about 1k miles ago.  I also just had a new fuel pump and filter put in. All of this maintenance cost me over $1500.

The truck has no mechanical issues, starts right up, idles perfectly, runs perfectly, shifts perfectly.  A/C and heat (front and rear) work fine.  It has a c/d and cassette player with premium speakers.  It also has cruise control, leather seats, lighted running boards, turn signals in the side mirrors with defrosters, rear back up sensors, rear window wiper and washer, and a new ball for the hitch that I've never used.

The only issues with the truck are the drivers rear power lock does not work (actuator, very common problem.  In fact I had the dealer replace the other 3 that weren't working prior to my purchase and wouldn't you know it a month later that one quits.) and the rear hatch struts need replaced as they do not hold the tailgate up when cold.  When it is warm they work fine.  Also the leather on the drivers seat is somewhat cracked due to age and use, and the 2nd row seat leather is slightly faded in places.  The only other flaw other than normal wear and tear is the 'limited' decal on the rear door has lost half of the 'd'.

This is a fantastic truck that will pull just about anything while seating 8 people.  It has very minor issues that in no way impact its reliablity. The mileage may vary slightly due to my continued driving of the vehicle.

The vehicle still has a lien on the title.  Upon successful payment I will provide the buyer with the truck and a bill of sale with which you can register the truck.  I will forward the title as soon as I receive it from the bank.  I prefer cash, but if you wish you may pay with a certified check.  The vehicle will not leave until the check is cleared through my bank, which could take up to 10 days.

Thanks for looking and if you have any other questions or want more/better pictures of anything let me know and I'll get back to you right away!

Volkswagen could outsell GM in China for the first time in nine years

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

As of the end of November, Volkswagen had sold 70,000 more cars than General Motors in China in 2013, making it appear inevitable that VW will outsell GM there. The feat would return the German brand to the top of chart in China for the first time in nine years, but even the second-place getter won't be complaining too loudly: both automakers sold more than three million vehicles in a market pegged to hit 16 million sales this year.
Volkswagen said it could have sold more cars if it had had more production capacity in China. The arrival of a new-to-China Audi A4, a China-built A3 sedan, the VW Bora and Skoda Octavia, as well as an $18.2-billion-euro investment in the country to construct new factories, means VW should see its numbers grow in 2014. GM's lineup is expanding next year, too, adding four Chevrolet nameplates and two vehicles to its Baojun brand as it tries to get to five million in sales by 2015.
Among other automakers, Ford benefited from good product and woes for Japanese automakers over a territorial dispute with China, outselling Toyota by almost 32,000 units through the end of November. The Ford Focus is China's best-selling vehicle so far this year.

Concentrated ST Formula Proves Just As Potent
I'm not the jealous type... usually. But I will fully admit to being somewhat of a Pouty Polly when I read executive editor Chris Paukert's report after driving the then-new 2013 Ford Focus ST through the impossibly pretty southern French Alps region last June. I feel like a broken record saying this yet again, but hot hatchbacks hold a special place in my heart. And while I'm always giddy to drive any sort of small, turbocharged three- or five-door at home in Detroit, my jealousy was indeed piqued after hearing Paukert tell about the challenging yet breathtaking roads he encountered while driving the flamin' yellow Focus. You know, the sort of roads that, from above, look like carelessly drizzled lines of icing on the frosted Alpen caps.
Several months later, I found myself piloting a Focus ST just west of metro Detroit, pitting it head-to-head against one of Autoblog's perennial favorite cars, the Volkswagen GTI. It was fantastic - enough so that I fully stand behind my statement that in terms of balls-out performance, the Focus ST cannot be beat as far as today's front-wheel-drive hatches are concerned.

1964 Ford GT40 prototype to be auctioned in April

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

The Ford GT40 owns a firm spot on the list of the greatest American racecars ever made, being the first car from the United States to take an overall win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And now Mecum will auction what it claims is second-oldest GT40 still in existence at its Houston sale on April 12.
The story of the GT40 is fascinating. Henry Ford II attempted to buy Ferrari in the early '60s, but Enzo refused. Ford decided if he couldn't have them, then he would beat the Prancing Horse on the track. Ford went to Carroll Shelby and asked him to spearhead the program. The early cars combined a steel monocoque chassis with Ford's 4.2-liter V8 engine pumping out around 350 horsepower. The first prototype made its public debuted on April 1, 1964, at the New York Auto Show.
Shelby kept building prototypes, including GT/104, which is for sale here. This version featured a lighter steel chassis and was raced at Le Mans in 1964. However, a fire forced it to retire. It was then repainted and had a 4.7-liter (289-cubic-inch) engine fitted. The chassis had its best finish at the 1965 Daytona Continental 2,000 Kilometers where it finished third with Bob Bondurant and Ritchie Ginther behind the wheel. Later that season, it was shipped back to Ford where it was restored and displayed at auto shows until 1971 when the automaker sold it. Since then, it has had many private owners.
