FORD ESCORT "ZX2" - 2002 -

CAR RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT. RESPONSIVE WITH POWER.  GOOD ECONOMICAL 4 CYL ENGINE. AUTOMATIC.  GOOD TRANSMISSION AND DRIVETRAIN. SUPER COLD AC; NO FREON LEAKS.  TIRES ABOUT 80%. BRAKES GOOD. NEW BATTERY, NEW FUEL FILTER.  CAR DOES NOT LEAK ANY FLUIDS TO THE GROUND.  CLEAN INTERIOR WITH DECENT LOOKING CLOTH SEATS.  NON SMOKER.  145K MILES.  BODY & PAINT IS IN GOOD SHAPE, NO RUST OR FADING PAINT.  THERE ARE A FEW SCRATCHES THAT HAVE BEEN TOUCHED UP.  ALSO THERE ARE A FEW DENTS ON THE DOOR PANELS.   OTHERWISE GOOD BODY.

I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR THE PAST 3 YRS.  THE CAR DRIVES GOOD.  RECENTLY, I HAD AN ISSUE WHERE IT WOULD TURN OFF WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP OCCASIONALLY, BUT ALWAYS STARTS RIGHT BACK UP.  I TOOK IT TO GOODYEAR MECHANIC CENTER WHERE THEY ATTEMPTED TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE (RECEIPTS AVAIL), AND RECOMMENDED A FUEL FILTER CHANGE AS WELL AS THROTTLE BODY CLEANED, WHICH I DID.  UNFORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO DO THIS.  WHEN I TOOK IT BACK THE 2ND TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE IT UNTIL THIS HAPPENED MORE FREQUENTLY.  THERE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, BUT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS ISSUE AND SOMETHING ABOUT ENGINE TIMING, SPITTING OUT JUST 1 CODE (I'VE HAD THIS LIGHT ON FOR THE DURATION OF OWNING THIS CAR AND HAS NOT BEEN AN ISSUE).

I ENDED UP GETTING A NEW CAR BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO CHASE A GHOST.  THIS CAR IS A GREAT CAR, AND WILL MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY IF THEY KNOW HOW TO WORK ON THEM.  THIS ISSUE MIGHT BE AN IDLE VALVE; WOULD BE MY SECOND GUESS.  I JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO DEAL WITH IT SINCE IT'S INTERMITTENT AND THE MECHANIC DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS EITHER.

CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS, NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED.  FEEL FREE TO COME BY APPT AND SEE IT.

THANKS FOR VIEWING.  FOR ALL FEATURES SEE ABOVE.

Timing belt and tuneup done at 120k miles.

Mulally wanted to kill Lincoln as late as last year, Fields vows to turn it around

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

Lincoln fans might want to give incoming Ford CEO Mark Fields a pat on the back for having a hand in saving the brand from the chopping block last year. He's among the people spearheading the rejuvenation of the division away from its stodgy image to appeal to younger customers.
According to two unnamed sources speaking to Bloomberg, CEO Alan Mulally was ready to kill Lincoln last year. Following the slow production ramp-up of the MKZ combined a with a costly ad campaign, Mulally was frustrated and openly suggested dropping the brand. However, Fields and Jim Farley, Ford's marketing boss, convinced the CEO that the brand was worth saving. They also created a plan to prevent similar problems for new models in the future.
It seems that one part of the strategy may involve waiting until new models are at dealers before starting a big ad campaign for them. Lincoln global director, Matt VanDyke, recently told Autoblog that the division is holding off on a full marketing push behind the new MKC crossover to prevent the supply problems that plagued the MKZ last year. Its big offensive begins in the fall when the CUVs are at all of the dealers and consumers are at home watching more TV. VanDyke also told Bloomberg that Fields, Farley and Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, have more direct oversight over new product launches now.

Ford F-100 'Snakebit' shown off by Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed at SEMA

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Ford, along with KISS bassist Gene Simmons and his wife, Shannon Tweed, used SEMA as a backdrop to pull the covers off Snakebit, a 1956 Ford F-100 pickup truck that's been updated with Shelby Mustang-derived styling bits and a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine. All 550 horsepower are funneled through a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels.
Underneath the custom bodywork sits a chassis that's been stretched five inches and a bed widened and bedecked with billet machined pieces that are supposed to look like wood. The 20-inch rear and 18-inch front wheels ape those of past Shelby Mustang models. The interior is swathed in two-tone leather with a bench seat designed to look - try to act surprised - like a Shelby Mustang.
Like what you see? Bidding for the truck will take place in 2014 at an unspecified Barrett-Jackson event (we'd assume Scottsdale). Proceeds will be used to help build a children's hospital in Saskatoon, in the province of Saskatchewan, where Ms. Tweed grew up. See the high-res gallery above and the press release down below for more.

Martini Mustang is a 'what if moment' gone right

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Feast your eyes on a masterpiece. This is Steve Strope's Ford Mustang in the classic fastback bodystyle, and as you'll notice, it sports the signature colors of Martini Racing, a livery that's as legendary as any Gulf Racing-styled car. But the red, white and blues of the Martini stripe down this Mustang's middle tell only a very small part of the story, in the latest video from Petrolicious.
What would you guess is under the hood? A 289-cubic-inch V8? Maybe a 302, or some absurd Ford crate engine? Maybe Strope went all Tokyo Drift - he's actually responsible for the "Hammer" Plymouth Satellite driven by Vin Diesel at the end of the movie - and found an RB26DETT to drop into the pony car? You'd be wrong on all counts.
This mad, mad man somehow finagled a Ford-Lotus engine from a 1966 Indianapolis 500 car into the Mustang's engine bay. Yes, a Mustang with an engine designed for a 160-mile-per-hour, open-wheel racecar. That's like someone in 40 years dropping McLaren's 2.4-liter V8 from the MP4-28 into a Scion FR-S. It'd just make a monster.
