I bought this 2001 Ford Escape new in June of 2001. After driving it for 5 years, I gave it to my daughter.  She has driven it since then. We are selling it because my 84-year old mother can no longer drive and has a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu in mint condition with only 44,723 miles.  As you'll see below, all suggested maintenance - most of which has been expensive as the car aged - was performed.  As a result of these upgrades, this car is ready to serve dependably for years to come.

The window sticker is in the picture carousel.  I have almost all maintenance records that will come with the car.  This car has only 169,496 miles.  It was always dealer or certified Pa. state inspection station serviced.  It is in very good mechanical condition.  The body has the normal wear for a car of this age and possess some scratches and stone nicks.  As you'll see in the pictures, the drivers side front fog lamp works but is loose because the bumper was backed into and the screw fastener broken.  The lamp requires a new fastener.  The interior is in very good condition with no wear beyond what is expected in a car of this age.  Below is a list of recent mechanical upgrades that will allow you to buy this car with confidence.

  • 5-28-13 A/C was recharged for the 1st time and had and oil/filter change service performed along with a new air filter
  • 5-20-13 Front axles were replaced
  • 1-15-13 New battery installed and a check of the charging system (ok)
  • 5-25-12 At 150K miles, replaced spark plugs, spark plug boots, ignition coil and manifold gasket (this is typical Ford suggested mtc. after 100K miles)
  • 3-28-12 Front disc brakes & calipers replaced, rotors were machined
  • 5-27-11 Rear brakes and hoses replaced

Receipts for all above mtc. included with the car as well as most if not all state inspection records and general mtc. like oil change/service.

2 Recall notices were serviced by Ford dealerships

Ford's Mulally makes shortlist for Microsoft CEO

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Ford CEO Alan Mulally has made the short list to take over tech giant Microsoft, lending further credence to rumors that the 68-year-old former Boeing exec would ditch Dearborn and move to Redmond.
The report comes from Reuters, which claims that alongside Mulally, former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and three candidates from within Microsoft are on the short list to succeed Steve Ballmer at the company's helm, although previous reports claim the Ford exec is the number one candidate. Mulally is currently working without a contract, although Bill Ford seems to believe that he isn't likely to depart. Despite this belief, Ford was quoted just last month talking about the depth of talent on the Blue Oval's executive team.
"There is no change from what we announced last November. Alan remains fully focused on continuing to make progress on our One Ford plan. We do not engage in speculation," said Ford spokesman Jay Cooney.

Ford GT to be revived, Le Mans battle upcoming

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Ford dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1966 to 1969, scoring four consecutive wins. Wouldn't it be great if the Blue Oval could go back to France for the 50th anniversary of that performance and show it can still compete in international endurance racing? Actually, the latest rumors indicate that could be exactly the case, and the car taking that checkered flag could be another revival of the Ford GT.
As the rumblings go, Ford wants to use a new supercar to take another crack at Le Mans, after considering some other possible alternatives. Substantiating these musings are reports that a Blue Oval rep was reportedly on hand for a recent meeting about 2016 GTE-Class rules, according to Road and Track. That would put the new GT in the same racing class as the Corvette, Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 and others.
It's not all about racing, though. If you win on Sunday, you want something to be able to sell on Monday. The revived GT is reportedly still a mid-engine supercar, but the exact engine is unclear. It's possible that it could even be shown or announced at the Detroit auto show in January, according to Motor Trend.
