Up for auction is a 2008 Ford Edge SE FWD.  This is my wife's car, and only selling to move up to an explorer as our second child will be born soon.  We purchased the car roughly 2.5 years ago from suburban Chrysler jeep dodge where is was a corporate trade in.  The vehicle currently has 136,000 highway miles on it.  We purchased the vehicle with 90,000 miles on it and weren't concerned at all.  Corporate cars see regular maintenance and frequent oil changes.  Also, knowing the company who owned it previously, I knew all miles were highway.  Since we've owned the vehicle it has always been dealer serviced and had regular oil changes with full synthetic mobile 1 and fram filters as we never planned on selling and were meticulous about keeping it running well for as long as possible.  That being said, the car runs and drives great.  The motor is strong, no leaks, doesn't burn any oil, trans is strong and shifts very smooth.  Steering is tight, and the car has a brand new set of sumitomo tires with under 2500 miles on them.  Everything on the car functions as it should and it needs nothing.  All lights, blinkers, horn, tire pressure sensors, electronics, and mechanics work as they should.  The car needs nothing.  The black paint still shines very well, as I too was anal about waxing and removing any type of scratches.  You could park this next to a vehicle with one third the mileage and not know a difference.  The interior is also very clean and the seats show no wear or tears.  The carpet is showroom new (its always been covered).  This is a front wheel drive so it handles very well in the snow and rain.  Again, the motor has plenty of power and it runs, idles, and functions perfectly.  NADA (the blue book banks use) give this vehicle, with its current mileage, a retail value of roughly $12,000.00 and a clean TRADE IN value of $8,900.00.  It gets good fuel economy and is a spacious car as well. As the photos show, there isn't any rust or signs of any rust starting.

Serious bidders only please.  Please have financing or funds available prior to bidding.  Bidders with less than 10 feedback are kindly asked to call prior to bidding.  Failure to do so may result in being blocked from this listing.  Nationwide shipping assistance is available, however the buyer is responsible for shipping costs.  This car is my wifes daily driver so mileage will slightly increase.  I reserve the right to end this auction at any time for any reason.  Thank you, and Happy bidding!

Consumer Reports: Ford Fusion fun but flawed; Mitsubishi i-MiEV slow, chintzy [w/videos]

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Waiting for a Ford compliment from Consumer Reports these days is like waiting for a low-cost new product from Apple. So we weren't really expecting a glowing review of the 2013 Ford Fusion when CR got its hands on the car. The institute's crew bought three different versions of the Fusion (Hybrid, 1.6-liter EcoBoost and a Titanium with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost) to put through its barrage of tests, and while we aren't too surprised by some of the findings, they're still interesting nonetheless.
CR praises the Fusion for its "eye-catching" design and says that the sportier Titanium trim level is the best-handling midsize sedan they've ever tested, but that's about where the good news ends for Ford. The Fusion Hybrid also posted the best-ever fuel economy CR has recorded in a midsize sedan, but the only problem is that their number was 39 miles per gallon combined - far less than Ford's 47 mpg rating for city, highway and combined. As expected, CR also dinged the Fusion for its MyFord Touch, but some of the other gripes about the car include a cramped cabin and poor fit and finish.
Other Ford products tested this time around include the Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid. Like the Fusion, CR's observed fuel economy of 37 mpg for the C-Max fell well short of Ford's advertised 47-mpg rating, and both cars were criticized for the use of MyFord Touch. CR notes that the Focus Electric's interior is also cramped, with the battery pack taking up a lot of cargo space.

Wards names its 2015 10 Best Interiors list

Fri, Apr 17 2015

Wards Automotive has named the winners of its 10 Best Interior awards, covering a wide but affordable array of vehicles. Where last year's list contained two six-figure vehicles, including the $372,800 Rolls-Royce Wraith, this year's is, well, a whole lot more reasonable. The publication lists the Mercedes-Benz C400 at $65,000 (which seems off), making it the most expensive vehicle here. That said, we'd argue that the entire C-Class line deserves to make this year's list, owing to its varied and high-quality selection of materials. The other vehicle to break the $60,000 mark, meanwhile, is the $60,675 Ford F-150 King Ranch, which has 327,000 pounds of leather lining its interior. Only one other German car, the BMW i3, and one other pickup truck, the GMC Canyon, managed to make this year's list. Here's the full list of this year's winners: 2014 BMW i3 ($52,550) 2015 Chrysler 300C Platinum ($51,175) 2015 Ford F-150 King Ranch ($60,675) 2015 GMC Canyon SLT ($40,465) 2015 Honda Fit EX-L ($21,590) 2015 Jeep Renegade Limited ($33,205) 2015 Kia Sedona SXL ($43,295) 2016 Mazda6 Grand Touring ($33,395) 2015 Mercedes C400 ($65,000) 2015 Nissan Murano SL ($41,905) See what we mean about the mainstream vehicles? Not only is there a distinct lack of luxury brands, it's the price of some of the vehicles that surprise. The Honda Fit, Jeep Renegade and Mazda6 are very reasonably priced, especially when you compare Wards price with the starting price. The Renegade Limited starts at less than $25,000, the Mazda at less than $22K and the Fit at under $16,000. Head over to Wards for a more detailed explanation of why each vehicle won. Ford's Explorer-based Police Interceptor to get 365-hp EcoBoost option

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Speeders beware, the police are going to be getting quite a bit faster. Ford has just announced that it will be offering its 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged, EcoBoost V6 in the Explorer Police Interceptor. The new engine will be joining the existing 3.7-liter V6. The 365-horsepower, 350-pound-foot mill should be familiar to consumers as the powerplant that's found in the Ford Taurus SHO (and its LEO equivalent, the Taurus Police Interceptor) and the Ford Explorer Sport. It should also provide quite a kick in the pants to officers used to the naturally aspirated 3.7 and its 304 ponies and 279 pound-feet of torque.
The move to the more potent powerplant was born out of all the equipment officers need to carry on a day-to-day basis. These days, there's so much stuff that police need on a regular basis, that there's a genuine market for a faster Police Interceptor Utility, as it's known officially. The Explorer-based cruiser has already accounted for 68 percent of Ford's LEO sales in 2013, and that's with just the 3.7, and we'd only expect that number to increase once the twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 is available. Ford won't offer up any indication of what the take rate will be on the new engine, but we're guessing it'll be fairly high.
The success of the Explorer PI couldn't have come at a better time for Ford. The decision to end Crown Victoria production was not a popular one with police, and combined with Chevrolet and Dodge diving into the LEO market feet first, Ford hasn't been performing as well as it's wanted to. The Explorer has been helping it turn around, though. And with the inclusion of the EcoBoost, Ford also has a legit competitor for the Chevrolet Tahoe on the big utility side of the police market.
