This is the only one I have ever seen. Conversion built by Pro-Air of Elkhart IN, has the extremely desirable 7.3L Power Stroke turbo diesel with just 181,000 miles. The experts say this motor is good for up to 350-400,000 miles. Goes down the road like a dream, better than 20 mpg highway, hauled my 27 foot Donzi from Minnesota to Puerto Penasco MX on the Sea of Cortez and back like there was nothing on the hitch. Plain and simple, this is a luxury work truck that will pull everything (but a 5th wheel) that your F350 Power Stroke will pull and you can save your motel money and catch Letterman from your sofa/bed in the back. The truck has some paint chip and clear coat peeling issues but mechanically is as sound as can be. New front brake pads, new fuel filter, 35 gallon fuel tank for hard-charging without stopping, extra rear 12v plugins for your refrigerator, 120v inverter for her curling iron and your shaver, also comes with a complete set of shop manuals. Block heater and battery trickle charge (tender). Plug it in at -60F and go. If you're serious about buying a seriously able vehicle that will pull your toys and let you bed down in the woods, mountain top or desert, this will most likely be your only chance at a truck like this. Should mention front and rear air and heat, unique center mounted single second row seat, probably not the ideal large family ride but great for 2 or 3. Good luck bidding. You will not be disappointed but I will be when it's gone.

Ford demonstrates Mustang's new Line Lock burnout feature

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

Been saving your pennies for a 2015 Ford Mustang? Put in a few extra shifts or some overtime? Got a great down payment ready? Well, however much you saved for your new pony car, start saving more - you'll need the extra money to spend on tires.
That's because the Mustang will come with a system called Line Lock, which can lock the front brakes electronically, allowing drivers to perform big, dumb, smoky burnouts without moving so much as an inch. It's sort of like launch control, only the average driver might actually use it.
Now, line locks aren't uncommon, particularly in drag racing. Usually, a flip of the switch locks the front brakes. The Mustang, besides offering the system from the factory which is unique in and of itself, looks a bit more involved.

10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.

This 1969 Ford F-100 has a Cadillac CTS-V engine lurking underhood

Fri, Jan 30 2015

Something always feels just a little taboo when someone builds a custom and then slots in a powertrain from a rival automaker. That's exactly the case with this modded 1969 Ford F-100 boasting a highly tuned LSA supercharged V8 like from the second-gen Cadillac CTS-V. However, with a claimed 800 horsepower on tap thanks in part to running an estimated 20 pounds of boost, it's easy to get over any bad feelings. Built by Tommy Pike Customs in South Carolina, the truck tries to keep the exterior looking somewhat stock. Although, the jade green and satin gold paint, Quaker State logo, lowered suspension and black wheels immediately suggest something is up. Once the F-100 starts up with its menacing growl, absolutely any doubts of this beast being unaltered are immediately gone. Not so obvious are some tweaks to actually help put all that power down, including disc brakes and independent suspension setups at the front and rear. The video gives some glimpses at a few of Pike's other creations, but the real star here is definitely his mean, green Ford.
