new muffler and tip 3 years ago
replaced rear fenders that were rusting badly with custom made aluminum diamond plate fenders and mudflaps with stainless steel hardware.
Paint and "AMBULANCE" decals are in great shape.  Looks great from 10 feet away and you would not guess it is 20 years old, more like 5.
New FORD hubcaps and an extra.
Locking GAS cap.
2 sets of keys.

7.3 IDI Diesel has a great reputation of going forever. I have run it unloaded, and also totally full of furniture while pulling a 21 foot trailer and it always gets the same 10-11 MPG.  Will cruise at 80 on flat land.  Driving it cross country on the highway is like a boat on a calm lake!

I registered it as an RV in California and it is only $84 per year for tags!!!!!!!! As a commercial vehicle it was almost $500.  NO SMOG-1998 and older diesels do not require SMOG check.

Located in Rosamond, CA 75 minutes from Burbank.  If you want to fly into LAX or Burbank airport to drive it home I will pick you up at the airport.

Pay my BUY IT NOW price and I'll throw in:
windshield mounted GARMIN GPS already installed,
40 gallon new FORD diesel fuel tank I was going to mount in place of the spare tire for a 2nd tank,
400Watt small Microwave that just needs the door handle glued into place(hard to find a microwave less than 700Watts).
Powered cooler that plugs into the lighter that can hold about 12+ cans.
Battery Tender brand trickle charger that automatically keeps batteries charged that is hard wired already.
Set of sheets for the bed.
Oil and filter for your next oil change.

I never thought I would sell it, I spared no expense on maintenance keeping it up until this Fall.  My idea was to add a few things to it to make it more of an expedition vehicle:
crank out awning.
2nd gas tank to go further between fill ups or make it a WVO tank and convert it to run both.
15 gallon water tank with 12V pump for out door showers.
mount spare on rear door with bike rack.
Put a generator box on the back door.
install Solar panels on roof and add 3 house batteries to run electric.
CHECK OUT the site for doing all these off-road camper builds at expeditionportal do tc om.

THE BAD:
AC does not blow cold, probably a leak.  I had it repaired 3.5 years ago and it worked great until this August.  Did not get an estimate.
Power steering pump whines a little when you turn the wheel too fast.
Oil pan is probably leaking as it appears wet on pan and in the area.  It does not drip oil much, maybe one drop each time I park it.  It does not burn or use any noticeable amount of oil.
I will remove magnets and easy to remove vinyl decals but it is your responsibility to remove all of the remaining decals within 60 days.
Cruise control buttons are on steering wheel but does not work.  I think they unhook that for Ambulance driving safety, I just never figured out where it was disconnected.
A few rust spots that I sanded and touched up.  One large rust hole about the size of a silver dollar under drivers door, sanded and painted but not really repaired yet.
Ambulance does not have the inverter to run 110V wall outlets, they must have taken it out just before I bought from the ambulance company.  It still has 2 wires with connectors ran to the storage closet so maybe it's a simple install.

I require a $500 PAYPAL DEPOSIT within 24 hours of auction end.
If picking up in person, only cash is acceptable.  I have a clear title in hand.  Must pick up by December 22nd.
Will ship but you must pay for and make all arrangements.Balance must be paid by bank to bank wire transfer within 5 business days, and must ship it within 15 days.

Chris Harris pits Fiesta ST against Mercedes G63 AMG in 0-60 battle... sort of

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

Vehicle performance tests are serious business, with reputations made or broken by things like braking distance, top speed, and lateral g-forces. King of the metrics, though, is the 0-60 run, which for unknown reasons has become the benchmark for what truly makes a car a performance machine.
Now, Chris Harris from Drive has turned the whole idea behind the sprint to 60 on its ear. Taking a new Ford Fiesta ST, Harris asks a simple question: would the ST be quicker to 60 on its own, or on a trailer being towed by a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG?
It's a fair question, really. The Fiesta Harris tested hit 60 in 7.2 seconds on a slightly uphill section of runway. It should be noted that Harris quotes his ST at 182 horsepower, which is about 15 ponies less than what we're getting in the US, so these numbers might not hold up all that well against an American model. The G63 AMG, meanwhile, is a 536-horsepower monster, powered by a twin-turbo V8 that, able to propel the big SUV to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds without towing a Fiesta.

Detroit 3 and UAW could create healthcare pool

Thu, Sep 3 2015

Healthcare costs continue to multiply in the US with no clear end in sight, but the United Auto Workers and the Big Three are negotiating a way to rapid growth under control. As part of the latest contract talks, the union has an idea to create a healthcare pool across all of its members at Ford, General Motors, and FCA US. If accepted, the company-wide integration would spread out the expenses and create a massive member base for bargaining with insurance companies. Both Ford and GM are at least considering the proposal, according to The Detroit News, and FCA US might be on board, as well. The idea is the work of current UAW president Dennis Williams and is based on the similar pool for the Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association for retirees. "I've walked through this several ways; I just don't have any other answer," Williams said to The Detroit News. "I do believe this will work. It's worked with the VEBA." Williams was elected UAW president last year and won by an overwhelming margin. He vowed no more concessions to automakers. In addition to healthcare, the two-tier wage system is another major talking point in the contract negotiation because it gives fewer benefits to entry-level workers. Higher wages are also a request. Healthcare costs are a massive expense for automakers and are expected to reach over $2 billion this year, according to The Detroit News. The payments are up nearly 50 percent or more in just the last four years.

Volkswagen could outsell GM in China for the first time in nine years

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

As of the end of November, Volkswagen had sold 70,000 more cars than General Motors in China in 2013, making it appear inevitable that VW will outsell GM there. The feat would return the German brand to the top of chart in China for the first time in nine years, but even the second-place getter won't be complaining too loudly: both automakers sold more than three million vehicles in a market pegged to hit 16 million sales this year.
Volkswagen said it could have sold more cars if it had had more production capacity in China. The arrival of a new-to-China Audi A4, a China-built A3 sedan, the VW Bora and Skoda Octavia, as well as an $18.2-billion-euro investment in the country to construct new factories, means VW should see its numbers grow in 2014. GM's lineup is expanding next year, too, adding four Chevrolet nameplates and two vehicles to its Baojun brand as it tries to get to five million in sales by 2015.
Among other automakers, Ford benefited from good product and woes for Japanese automakers over a territorial dispute with China, outselling Toyota by almost 32,000 units through the end of November. The Ford Focus is China's best-selling vehicle so far this year.
