I ALSO INSTALLED A PERFORMANCE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND A TURBO WICKED WHEEL TO IMPROVE FUEL MILEAGE/MORE POWER. I PUT SOUND DEADENOR THROUGHOUT THE CAB AREA AND INSTALLED RUG IN THE BACK TO REDUCE ANY ROAD NOISE. JUST INSTALLED A SECOND ROW BENCH SEAT WITH SEAT BELTS.THERE IS A SPOTLIGHT MOUNTED TO THE BACK OF THE VAN AS WELL AS A CLASS III TOW HITCH WITH A 7 PIN CONNECTOR. THERE IS A BRAKE CONTROLLER THAT WILL GO WITH THE VAN THAT I HAVE NOT INSTALLED YET. ALSO HAS A PIONEER TOUCH SCREEN RADIO WITH DVD,CD,IPOD AND BLUETOOTH. THIS WAS USED BY A FOREMAN SO THE INSIDE IS EXTREMELY CLEAN AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF. IT WAS SERVICED BY A DIESEL SPECIALIST FACILITY SINCE NEW THAT ONLY USED FORD PARTS. Ford reveals concept trucks that ultimately became Atlas
Wed, 03 Apr 2013The Ford Atlas Concept was one of the quiet success stories of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now Ford has given us a quick glimpse as to how that creation came to be. Designers actually combined two early sketches to build the Atlas. One, called the Bullet Train, is a futuristic, aerodynamic creation, while the other, aptly named the Locomotive, features the squared off proportions we're familiar with.
Once designers settled on the truck's proportions, they began nailing down exactly which attributes they wanted the final design to have. The Concept's notched windshield originated as a forked glass roof that seamlessly transitioned into the windscreen.
Likewise, designers wanted to fit the truck's tailgate with a storage compartment for tools and a first aid kit, but settled on the dual-purpose step/cargo cradle. Interestingly enough, the concept's active aero shutter wheels actually originated in some of the earliest sketches. Check out the photos and slides here for a closer look.
Toyota, Ford and Honda again top Consumer Reports Car-Brand Perception Survey
Fri, 01 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has released its annual Car-Brand Perception Survey, and the list looks awfully familiar. The top six brands are identical to last year's results, with Toyota, Ford and Honda continuing to occupy the podium. All told, Toyota walked away with 133 points, putting it 15 ahead of second-place Ford. Honda jumped 26 points this year, narrowing Ford's lead to just four points in total.
Consumer Reports polls buyers from across the country on how they see multiple brands in seven categories, including quality, safety, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation and environmentally friendly/green. Researchers then combine the findings to come up with the total brand score.
While value and performance remain important to buyers, CR found quality and safety are still on top when it comes to significance. Scion and Mitsubishi found themselves at the bottom of the pack with the worst score of all, tied at just six points. Ram, Fiat and Mini filled out the lowest five with scores of seven, eight and 10 points, respectively. How Ford secretly used customers to test its aluminum F-150 [w/video]
Fri, 30 May 2014Automakers getting clever about disguising development vehicles isn't anything new. Between mules wearing the sheetmetal of other cars and prototypes decked out in as much camouflage as is practical, automakers know how to make it very difficult for the general public to get an exact idea of what kind of vehicle is in development. Ford, though, is rapidly becoming the master.
We knew that the Blue Oval originally tested the durability of the aluminum construction being used for the 2015 F-150 by building an all-aluminum 2014 truck and entering it in the Baja 1000 off-road race. That's no longer a secret. What we didn't know, though, is that the aluminum development dates back to before even that, and that some of the people in question had no idea what it was they were working with.
Ford says this is the first time prototypes have ever been handed over to the public.
