The passenger side electric window does not work. one of two gas gauges does not work. Everything else works perfectly. There is a minor exhaust leak but it does not effect the van one bit. Although the paint is a little faded there is very few dents or scratches on this van The interior isn't in great condition but its not bad either. All interior lights work. Back seat folds into a bed. I drove across country and back pulling a heavy trailer with no problems."

I spend my weekends in the mountains camping and Kayaking with friends. I drive this van all over the place. The previous owner replaced the engine and I have all the documentation from Cherokee Ford Dealership ($4,722). I purchased it and put in a new battery, new headlights, new brakes and even put a new transmission in it ($1350 all documentation is available for trans). Since all the maintenance I drove this van to the Grand canyon towing 12 Kayaks and tons of Gear. It runs flawlessly! Everything works except 1of 2 gas gauges and the passenger side power window. (prob just a regulator.) I purchased a new car and I'm trying to save up for another kayaking trip (Costa Rica). I used it as my lil RV so it doesn't have the two middle seats. The rear seat folds down into a bed. all the windows have curtains to close. It has an ACDelco 2500 watt power inverter. It has a big (19inch) flatscreen tv and an X box 360. Its not the prettiest van but it is mechanically sound and very dependable. I really hate to let it go. Looking at the paper work from having the engine replaced the mileage going into the shop and the what the mileage reads now adds up to about 25,000 miles on the new engine. The new transmission prob has less then 4,000 miles and it still has 12 months left on the warranty.  This will make a great dependable van for work or play.

Crowdsource funding push on to save historic Ford buildings

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Detroit has no shortage of old, abandoned buildings, both within the city and in the surrounding communities. Few, though, have the historical significance of the old Ford Highland Park facility. Home to the very first moving assembly line, Highland Park was designed by the legendary Albert Kahn, and was one of the homes of the Model T.
Now, the Woodward Avenue Action Association is attempting to buy both the 40,000-square-foot admin building, which is located off the historic Woodward Avenue, and an 8,000-square-foot garage. The WAAA's goal is to convert the buildings into an automotive heritage center. The Detroit News spoke to the interim director of the WAAA, Deborah Schutt, who commented, "[Metro Detroit has] not been very good at telling our own story. So we've decided, let's pull everything together and tell our story."
The WAAA made an offer of $550,000 to buy the two buildings, and has $400,000 from the Michigan Department of Transportation and another $15,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. It's trying to raise a further $125,000 through crowd-sourcing, starting a campaign called "Five Dollars A Day," after old Hank Ford's $5-per-day wage for line workers.

NHTSA investigating Ford Fiesta for faulty door latches

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation on the 2011-2013 Ford Fiesta because the regulator has received 61 complaints from drivers, including one claim of an injury, about the doors on the subcompacts failing to latch and sometimes even flying open while driving. NHTSA has estimated that the problem could affect as many as 205,000 vehicles.
NHTSA is still gathering further data about the problem, but looking at the complaints so far, both front and rear doors appear to be potentially involved with the alleged failures. Among the reports, there are 12 claiming that the door opened while driving. Several also indicate the "Door Ajar" warning illuminating during this problem. The one purported injury happened when someone attempted to shut the door, and it bounced back.
Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker told Autoblog via email, "We are cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do." Scroll down to read the report from NHTSA.

Unrestored 1969 Shelby GT500 one of many classic barn finds going to auction

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

We love a good barn find here at Autoblog. We like that there's a palpable excitement and sense of mystery surrounding barn finds. Each case has its own uniqueness to it, and this latest discovery is no different: an unrestored, one-owner 1969 Shelby GT500 with just 8,531 miles on it.
In the case of this particular barn find, many of the typical questions have already been answered. For example, we know who owned it - his name was Larry Brown. He recently passed away, and as he had no wife or children to inherit the estate, the car he purchased at Pennsylvania Ford dealer in May of 1969, will be auctioned off by Ron Gilligan Auctioneers.
The car was fastidiously maintained, having never been driven in the rain. In fact, Brown never even washed it, out of fear of it rusting. According to the auction website, the last time this car saw water was probably when it was detailed ahead of being delivered to Brown. If that doesn't sound like a fanatical sense of maintenance on the part of this GT500's owner, this next part will. The interior has been treated to a similarly painstaking attempt at preservation, with garbage bags covering the seats and two layers of floor mats over the carpets. The result is a car that, aesthetically, is in remarkable shape considering it's spent so long in a barn.
