I am selling my 1999 Ford Econoline ChooChoo Conversion Van.  I am the second owner of this vehcle; I purchased it just 4 months ago, and no longer have need of it.  It is in excellent condition, has new tires and brakes, new ball joints and heavy duty shocks all the way around.  I know they're new, because I had the work done.  VERY low mileage and well cared for! Crown River wheelchair lift, capable of lifting 600 lbs., which is plenty for a power chair and a 300 lb adult.  It has wheelchair lift controls both inside and outside the van, and it also has a remote control to operate the lift.  Once you get the wheelchair into the van, it has 4 heavy duty ratcheting belts that hold the wheelchair stable on all 4 corners.  There is also an extended length seatbelt to secure the passenger in ther wheelchair.  This van runs great, no leaks of any kind and the front and rear air conditioner blows cold!  Rear bench seat reclines at the touch of a button, and will lie flat to use as a bed.  6 way power seats. And a very special additional feature:  The front passenger seat has a power base, which will rotate 90 degrees to allow a wheelchair passenger to transfer from the wheelshair to the front passenger seat with ease, and then they are able to turn the seat to face the front with the touch of a button.  It has tinted windows all the way around, blinds on all windows except the front passenger door glass and the windshield!  It's clean clean clean!  Paint is shiny and not a single hail ding anywhere!  Everything works on this vehicle!  Truck is located in Lubbock, TX.  Additional pictures are available, just ask!  Someone out there needs an affordable handicapped van that's in excellent condition, and they are hard to find!  This baby needs a new home.

What next for Alan Mulally?

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

Alan Mulally has emerged as a hero when it comes to American manufacturing. He came to Ford in 2006 after serving as head of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, streamlined operations, sold off the costly elements of its Premier Automotive Group and saved Ford from having to be bailed out by the federal government like its cross-town rivals Chrysler and General Motors did. But as we reported mere days ago, he's widely expected to step down from the chief executive's office at Ford shortly.
So what's next for one of the most successful executives in the business? Hard to say, but don't expect Mulally to disappear into retirement. Though he didn't ultimately take the top job at Microsoft, industry insiders expect to see him in another influential position - likely as a board director or even chairman of another company. (We say "another company" and not Ford because while Bill Ford may have stepped aside as CEO to bring Mulally on board in the first place, we don't see him giving up his chairmanship of the board also.)
Mulally has likely already lined up his next move, and could either announce what that move will be as soon as Ford confirms Mark Fields as his successor, or could wait awhile. Insiders speculate that he could leverage his transportation and aerospace experience into a position at General Electric or a major airline, his manufacturing expertise to benefit a company like Procter & Gamble or his management skills at a consultancy firm.

All the details on Plug In 2014 electric vehicle conference you could ever want

Wed, Aug 6 2014

One of the best parts of the Plug In 2014 Conference in San Jose, CA last week was getting to listen in on thoughts about the state of the plug-in vehicle industry from people who have been involved with it for ages. They bristle when you call them the "Old Guard" (learned that one the hard way), but these are the people who have been through a number of ups and downs with plug-in vehicles, so they've got what we call perspective. Their knowledge was on full display in the three plenary sessions, which the Plug In Conference organizers have given us permission to share with you. Each is at least 90 minutes long, so make sure to set some time aside to enjoy the discussions after you download them (any help with making them streamable would be appreciated). Follow us below to see what we've got to offer. Opening Plenary (audio link). "The Road Ahead – Delivering on a Vision for Sustainable Transportation." Moderated by Mark Duvall (director of energy utilization at EPRI, the Electric Power Research Institute, and a long-time EV advocate), this panel featured: Jack Broadbent, Executive Officer / APCO, Bay Area Air Quality Management District Pat Romano, President & Chief Executive Officer, ChargePoint, Inc. Aaron Johnson, Senior Director, Customer Programs, Pacific Gas and Electric Company Brendan Jones, Director, EV Sales Operations & Infrastructure Deployment, Nissan North America, Inc. David W. Cash, Commissioner, MassDEP Dan Sperling, Director, Institute of Transportation Studies, University of California, Davis Highlights: Educating drivers to "get over the gas station" is a key strategy, how Level 2 and DC Fast Charging are really "a new paradigm," that there have been well over 214,000 EVs sold in US as of July 2014 and where Nissan sees huge potential for more EV sales (Northeast US and medium-size cities like St. Louis and Pittsburgh). Wednesday Morning Plenary (audio link). "Getting to the Mass Market – A Discussion of Ideas for Widespread PEV Adoption." Moderated by John Gartner, research director for smart transportation at Navigant Research.

Fiat boss Elkann being mentored by... Bill Ford?

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

Fiat Chairman John Elkann has been turning to an unusual source for advice on the car business. While speaking during an interview with The Detroit News, Elkann said he often asks Bill Ford Jr. for advice on how to proceed with the turnaround at Chrysler. "It's great to have the opportunity to share this with someone like Bill, who has experienced many things and gone through many things ... especially linked to Detroit." Elkann said.
As the Agnelli family heir, Elkann has inherited a long and fruitful friendship with the Ford family. While Giovanni Agnelli built his first Fiat four years before Henry Ford created his first vehicle, it was Ford that showed Agnelli the benefits of mass production and helped pave the way for what would become the Fiat empire.
Giovanni's grandson, Gianni, helped mentor Bill Ford when he was elected chairman of Ford Motor Company. Now, Ford is returning the favor by helping Elkann navigate the automotive industry's tumultuous waters.
