2006 Ford E350, Engine Gone, Otherwise A Gem. on 2040-cars

Hate to see this baby go. After 7 faithful years and 300,000 miles of mostly carpooling kids to schools and camps its time has come. Engine went the way of the dinosaur and it's time to get a new horse and carriage for the kids.
Bought in 2006 as a same-year barely-used model with only 16000 miles the van lived a happy life watching kids grow up, hear their laughter, witness their rascalities, listen to their homework studies and inside-gossip. Before it landed on my driveway the van was used as a crew vehicle for the Sopranos. Some bragging creds right there. (A "Soprano's Crew" tag is still attached to the sun visor.) During its tumulous life span the van saw heat and cold, sub freezing temperatures and iron melting heat; new asphalted highways and others less so. Little scratches and standard wear are visible all over as a charming sign of age. Back door is adorned with stickers added by jovial adolescents expressing individuality and uniqueness. The 2 front tires are merely brand new. I just bought them at the end of summer. I would suggest you put them on on the rear for good traction. The spare tire is fully inflated and in top shape having barely been used. 1 of the 13 passenger cabin seat belts doesn't work properly. Driver's armrest came off when a suitcase was pushed against it. First bench cloth has a rip (fixable with a needle and thread, ask Mom to do it for you). AC is in top shape. The only complain I ever heard, even on the hottest days, was "Can you lower the AC?" which was music to my ears. Heat on the other hand works only in the front. Now, on most days, even very cold ones, the front heat covers the whole cabin all the way to the back. But I will show you an easy fix for that. It's just a screwdriver and a couple twists away. All 4 rows in the passenger cabin area come out to provide multiple configurations of cargo hauling space. Hope I didn't let anything out. Feel free to ask any question even as mundane as when I filled up gas last or as daunting as the age of the kids I chauffeured. Goes without saying that the van is not in a position to revolve its wheels on its own. It needs a tug. Preferably on top of a muscular flatbed but 2 barn yarn cords connected to a pickup truck will get it out of my driveway just as well. As for payment, I'll give you a chance. I will accept your check and wait the mandatory couple of days till my bank contacts your bank and has a Brinks truck deliver the money straight to my bank account. In other words no need for paypal (unless you insist, that is). |

Ford's Mulally now said to be in lead for Microsoft CEO job
Sun, 29 Sep 2013There have been rumors that Ford CEO Alan Mulally could assume the top job over at Microsoft, whose CEO, Steve Ballmer, will retire within the year. Mulally hasn't come out and said that he's considering moving to Microsoft after (or before) his contract with Ford through 2014 ends, but sources in the know say he's the front-runner to become the tech giant's CEO and has opened up to the idea more in recent weeks, AllThingsD reports.
Mulally is no stranger to Washington, where Microsoft is located, having worked in the state for Seattle-based Boeing Commercial Airplanes as CEO years ago. He also recently was an adviser to Ballmer in an effort to realign the company's management structure to help it become more competitive in a fast-changing computer hardware and software market. And when Ford developed its Sync digital interface, it tapped Microsoft to provide the operating system, Microsoft Auto. Perhaps the least crucial connection - but nonetheless an important one - is that Mulally still owns a house in the Seattle area, and it's been said he wants to return there, according to AllThingsD.
A main challenge Microsoft's next CEO will face is how to manage the company's numerous, fractured operations and, eventually, streamline them. But even on this front, Mulally has experience; after all, it was he who ushered in an era of global Ford vehicles, after the automaker had become complacent developing and selling vehicles by region leading up to the economic recession of 2008-2009.

Ford reserving 50th Anniversary Mustangs for service members
Tue, Dec 16 2014Think getting your hands on one of the 1,964 50th Anniversary Ford Mustangs is hard as a civilian? Imagine how tough it might be for the Mustang fanatics in our nation's military. Perhaps recognizing this fact, Ford Emerging Market Services and the Overseas Military Sales Corporation (the only Ford-authorized retailer on the military's bases) ran a raffle, with the winners receiving the opportunity to purchase one of the limited-edition muscle cars. Ford EMS and OMS received 300 entries to the raffle, although with only eight 50th Anniversary Stangs to hand out, we imagine there were quite a lot of disappointed soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. "We are pleased to offer limited-edition anniversary Mustangs to members of our military through our Military Appreciation Program, and we are delighted at the response it's receiving," Doug Walczak, EMS' fleet sales manager, said. The first Mustang was delivered to Army Maj. Del Boyer, shown above. While Maj. Boyer took delivery in New York, the raffle was open to servicemembers both at home and abroad.
