There are maybe 5 or 6 websites including E-Bay where like 90% of everything being sold can be found. Within all those sites there have not been over the last 6 months that I have been watching, or right now, any used Chateaus with low miles, in great shape for a price close to mine.  Look, all you want, wait as long as you like, but don't expect another chance for a Chateau like mine very soon.

I offer any buyer the right to cancel any sale, and get full refund of any deposit, if upon LOCAL inspection, the van does not meet expectations. This offer does not apply in any way except when an inspection takes place here. Once the van was to be picked up and shipped there are no returns of any kind what-so-ever. That is more than fair. I address this again in the listing. Thankyou for your interest. It's a real nice van.

I am only the second owner. It was  in outstanding condition when I bought it and I have  strived to continue the fine care of the van. I believe the condition it is in now shows the results of those efforts. Being a true, Ford built Chateau it has all the options, and UNLIKE MOST CONVERSION VANS THAT ARE OVER 7-10 YEARS OLD, MY WINDOWS HAVE NO LEAKS AND NO RUST-OUT THAT PLAGUES CONVERSION VANS. The 5.4 V8 Triton runs strong and smooth and the 4 speed automatic with overdrive shifts without slippage. The van rides level and smooth and holds a good straight track. There is no smoking from the exhaust.  All guages work properly.

There are power windows, drivers' seat, mirrors, door locks, with remote fobs of course, cruise control and steering. Front and rear heat, with good HOT heat from the rear unit, front and rear AC as well, tinted windows, upgraded fabics on all the seats,  and 4 captains reclining seats with arm rests. Both front seats also have lumbar adjustments,  AM/FM radio with casette and CD conrol features, tilt steering wheel, full running boards, trailer hitch and chromed bumpers including  the sought after rear step bumper with protective cover. The tires have about 75% tread left and are a better quality matched set.

The interior is excellent. The headliner  pristine, the seats void of tears, rips  frayed surfaces etc. The carpet is also in superb condition. On a scale of 1-10 I honestly give the interior a solid 9. Minor scruffs on some places on the side panels. You will love the feeling of pride you will get to enjoy any time someone gets in the van.

The body has never been in an accident. There are a couple of rust spots but nothing really major.  You should be very satisfied with the  condition of the body. The paint has a  lot of nice, even shine to it and the alloys are also in far better condition than what you would normally expect. As I said, I am only the second owner and this van has never been neglected.

The van is advertised locally and except for the use of the Buy It Now Option, may be sold and this listing terminated whether or not bids have been placed

IF THE LISTING IS STILL UP THE VAN IS STILL FOR SALE. DON'T WANT TO GAMBLE? THEN BUY IT NOW.

A DEPOSIT OF $1500 IS REQUIRED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE TIME OF A WINNING BIDDER OR SOMEONE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE BUY IT NOW OPTION. THIS MUST BE MADE INTO MY PAY PAL ACCOUNT. THIS INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE WINNING BIDDER OR BUYER.

THE VAN IS 30 MILES WEST OF CHICAGO AND CAN BE INSPECTED AND TEST DRIVEN. IF BUYER WANTS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BEFORE MAKING FINAL PAYMENT, THEN SUCH DESIRE MUST BE MADE KNOWN TO ME WITHIN 3 DAYS OF THE PURCHASE AND MUST BE DONE WITHIN 5 DAYS OF AUCTION ENDING OR USING THE BUY IT NOW OPTION.

IF BUYER DECIDES THE VAN DOES NOT MEET ALL EXPECTATIONS THE SALE CAN BE CANCELLED AND THE DEPOSIT WILL BE RETURNED, SO LONG AS IT HAS CLEARED MY BANK.  IF BUYER DOES INSPECT THE VAN AND CHOOSES TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE THE BALANCE OF PAYMENT WILL BE DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS.  NO PENALTIES WILL BE IMPOSED IN THIS EVENT EXCEPT FOR ANY FEES E-BAY OR PAY PAL MAY NOT REFUND TO ME.......... I CAN'T BE ANY MORE FAIR.

IF BUYER CHOOSES TO FORGO AN INSPECTION THEN PAYMENT IN FULL MUST BE RECEIVED WITHIN 4 DAYS OF AUCTION ENDING OR PURCHASE THROUGH THE BUY IT NOW OPTION. PAYMENT OF THE FULL PURCHASE PRICE, OTHER THAN THE $1500 DEPOSIT MUST BE MADE IN CASH DURING NORMAL BANKING HOURS OR BY DIRECT MONEY WIRE TRANSFER INTO MY BANK AND THE VAN WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL ANY AND ALL FUNDS HAVE BEEN FULLY CLEARED BY MY BANK. ANY ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHIPPING ARE THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER AND  ONCE THE VAN IS OFF THE GROUND I HAVE NO FURTHER OBLIGATION OR LIABILITY OF ANY KIND WHAT-SO-EVER.

Naturally I have to include the following: This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgement solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle.

IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE CHICAGO AREA BUT HAVE  A FRIEND OR RELATIVE WHO IS, THEN FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME TO ARRANGE THEIR INSPECTING THE VAN FOR YOU.

Jay Leno sees how the other half lives with CHP cop cars new and old

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Comedian Jay Leno is changing gears from driving fast cars to checking out some of the police cruisers that regularly chase down and dish out punishment to those fast cars. In this episode of Jay Leno's Garage, we get the lowdown on the modifications made to the Ford Explorer for the Interceptor package (which looks pretty tough in its California Highway Patrol livery).
The new Ford is cool, but cooler still are the pack of classic CHP cars that Jay has along for the episode. A 1982 Mustang, 1966 Dodge Polara, 1970 Mercury Monterey and 2000 Crown Victoria are all in the shop. Better still, Jay lays out an argument for ones of the classic cruisers as the best cop car of all time. Get your guesses in now, and then scroll down to watch and learn.

Ford talking unibody Ranger replacement

Mon, 18 Feb 2013

Now here's some welcome news. Car and Driver reports Ford is seriously mulling a replacement for the recently deceased Ranger, but the successor to the compact pickup's throne may not look anything like what we've seen from the nameplate in the past.
While speaking at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Doug Scott, marketing manager for Ford Trucks, said there's still a market for a smaller pickup, but that buyers expect to see a larger differentiation between the smaller utility vehicles and their full size counterparts in price, capability and fuel economy.
According to Scott, that means a vehicle with a payload capacity of around 1,000 pounds paired with a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds and "a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption." But the biggest piece of that recipe is the price tag, and Scott says to keep the MSRP far enough away from the already cheap F-150, the answer could come in the form of a unibody design. Scott says target customers in this market don't care whether the truck has a traditional frame or not, so long as it's tough enough to do the job and has the capability they need.

2015 Ford Mustang Convertible to recreate Empire State Building stunt

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

It would have been all too easy to miss the auto show debut of the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible. It was, after all, unveiled alongside its fixed-roof counterpart at the Detroit Auto Show this past January, lumping coupe and cabrio into one debut. But Ford is evidently still intent on making its new droptop stand out. The top of the Empire State Building ought to do the trick.
Automotive history buffs may recall that, 50 years ago, Ford unveiled its first Mustang convertible atop what was then the tallest building in the world, that Art Deco icon of the New York skyline. Half a century later, Ford is recreating the feat and bringing the new topless Mustang to the same observation deck on the building's 86th floor.
Getting it up there, of course, will be no easy task. While they'd usually airlift the vehicle onto the roof or lift it by crane, the spire protruding from atop the building makes approaching the narrow observation deck too dangerous, and no mobile crane can telescope the thousand-plus feet it would take to get the pony car up there.
