1996 E150 Ford Econoline High Top Conversion Van
351 Motor

Got this van in 2006 here on eBay with just shy 150,000 miles on it. Totally got ripped off :( and will be as transparent as possible about it's condition, so there are no surprises like we got.  It has been very well maintained since we purchased it and now has 231,000 miles.

The Bad:
Mostly aesthetic.  It's not so pretty and has its flaws.  Ex:   the only lock that works to open it is in the very back (power locks work sporadically).  The passenger side window doesn't work, but I have a motor for it, the back air/heat is disabled, but the front works.  The body is in decent shape, but it has a couple small dents, the striping is chipped and the clear coat is cooking off the roof in spots (Texas title van).   Area around the wheel wells have been frequently touched up with spray paint to keep surface rust from getting out of control (NY salty winters).  It may either need a heater core or lines.  The carpeting is stained and could use a good cleaning.  The bucket seats in front are in pretty rough shape too and the rear seat recently got a split in it that has some duct tape on.  There is a lifter that has been tapping since we got it, but doesn't affect the functioning.

What has been done since we've owned it:
The oil has been changed every 3000 miles
Heads rebuilt at 150,000
Transmission rebuilt at 154,000
Suspension/shocks/springs completely re-done
Fuel Pump
Tie Rods
Water Pump
Brakes
Thermostat Battery
U-joints
Starter
Radiator
Alternater
Belt
Wires, Plugs & Distributor Cap (could use a new distributor cap)
There are probably a couple other things that have been replaced as well, but I can't think of them at the moment.
It has a tow package,
There is an additional bench seat (removed to make room for cargo).  It is in good condition.  The passenger seat is wheel chair accessible; rotates and goes up or down.   The rear seat supposedly folds out into a bed.  Never had any need to try it.  It is what it is…a good work van.  Not a luxury van anymore, though the track lighting is nice.
TV (not sure if it still works or not).  Haven't bothered with it since we bought it.
Good Rubber
On the road, ready to go.
If you're interested and want more photos, send your email address and I'll get some out to you.  There are also some additional photos on Ithaca, NY's Craigslist.  Enter 1996 Ford Econoline Van, and it should pull up.  Please ask all questions before bidding.

Autoblog editors choose their favorite racecars of all time

Thu, Feb 26 2015

If you like cars, there is a good chance that you like racecars. There's something about the science and the art of going faster, of competition, of achievement, that accelerates the hearts of enthusiasts. It doesn't matter the series, the team or the manufacturer – there's something about racing that stirs emotions and lifts spirits. It's that way with many of you, and it's that way with our editors. With that in mind, we offer a list of our favorite racecars of all time. Of course, we'd like to hear some of yours in the comment section below. 1970 Porsche 917 Compared to some of the obscure choices by my colleagues, I feel like the Porsche 917 is almost so obvious a pick as to not be worth mentioning. Still, when coming up with my answer, my mind invariably went back to this classic racer – specifically in its blue-and-orange Gulf livery – while watching Le Mans on DVD and later Blu Ray with my dad. Long, low and curvaceous, few vehicles have ever looked sexier lapping a track than the 917. More than just a pretty face, this beauty had speed, too, thanks to several tunes of flat-12 engines over the course of its racing life. In the early '70s, Porsche was a dominant force throughout sports-car competition, and the 917 (shown above at the 1970 24 Hours of Daytona) was the tip of that spear, including back-to-back victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Largely without dialogue or really much of a traditional plot, Le Mans is like a tone poem of racing goodness. While the 917's importance to motorsports history is undoubtedly fascinating, it's still this cinematic depiction of the Porsche racer that draws me in most, especially with the volume cranked. – Chris Bruce Associate Editor 1964 Mini Cooper S How could everyone not be selecting the 1964 Mini Cooper S piloted by Paddy Hopkirk and Henry Liddon? That car, 33 EJB, took the first of British Motor Corporation's four Monte Carlo Rally wins (it should have been five, but French judges got the British Minis [and Fords] disqualified on a technicality regarding headlights... which its own car, the winning DS, was also in violation of). The tiny red car and its white roof beat out Ford Falcons, Mercedes-Benz 300SEs and scores of Volvos, Volkswagens and Saabs. This, along with the several years of dominance that followed, cemented the idea that not only could the tiny, two-tone Mini be a real performance vehicle, but that family-friendly city cars in general could be fun.

Ford recalling nearly 700k Escape CUVs, C-Max hybrids over two separate safety issues

Fri, 09 May 2014

Poor Escape. Ever since its launch in 2012, Ford's small CUV has been the subject of many, many, many recalls. And today, The Detroit News is reporting that Ford is adding two more recalls to the 2013-14 model year Escape's permanent record, one of them also involves the C-Max hybrid hatchback.
The first recall, covering 692,500 Escape and C-Max vehicles, is due to a software glitch that could cause the airbags - specifically, the safety canopy - to not deploy in a timely fashion during rollover crashes. According to the News, Ford says no crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this problem.
The second recall, covering 692,700 Escapes, is related to the door handles. The News reports that the exterior door handles could open while the vehicle is in motion, and could also fail to latch properly. Once again, no crashes or injuries have occurred because of this. The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration has not issued an official notice on either recall as of this writing.
