1994 Ford 7.3L IDI Diesel Van, E4OD Automatic Transmission. Super Duty Prep Package includes high amp alternator, larger radiator (recently replaced), trans cooler, HD suspension, miles of extra wiring and other items designed for high reliability vehicles. 7.3 IDI normally aspirated diesel will easily run on waste vegetable oil (WVO), waste motor oil (WMO), biodiesel and regular diesel, excellent candidate for WVO/WMO conversion.  Just replaced injectors with brand new Stanadyne units, plus new USA made Diesel RX glow plugs and glow plug controller, new injector return lines, starts right up in any weather. Power steering and brakes, cold AC front and rear, heat front and rear including AC powered heat from 120 volt AC landline. Recently serviced with fresh oil/filter and coolant.

Van has loads of storage and lighting, exhaust fan, AC outlets from landline, 3 different types of 12 volt DC outlets, bench with hinged top, full length and hidden storage drawer underneath, jump seat with storage drawer, all seat positions have seat belts. High top box with stainless grab bar, pass thru window to cab (wall is wood, can easily be made into full size pass-thru), waterproof non-slip floor, fiberglass walls, padded roof. Perfect for camper, RV, mechanic or plumber truck, tradesman van, race chase vehicle, quads, dune transporter, Burning Man rig - you name it! White exterior lighting with 50 watt halogen bulbs on all four sides, controllable from cab switch panel, great for road work, campground lighting. 120 Volt AC landline connection with circuit breaker can be hooked up to campground or generator for interior outlets.

Cab has full switch panel and extensive wiring/breaker box on hinged panel in ceiling (see pics) which can be repurposed for anything you desire - fog lights, winches, refrigeration, backup cameras, GPS, audio/video system, etc. Dual battery setup stock, large gauge wiring already run to wiring panel. Standard vinyl seats, manual windows, rubber flooring in decent shape, nothing fancy but functional!

Body is clean overall with minor rust where fiberglass roof extension meets the body gutters (see pics), looks like this could be ground out if it’s an issue for you. Has some adhesive residue from lettering, scratches, dings, rear door slightly tweaked but seals OK, glass and mirrors in good shape, rear step bumper. Stock Ford wheels, 16" LR E all-steel tires with decent tread, some cracking on tread but have had no problems with them. Includes spare and jack. Definitely not a show truck so you won't feel bad about banging it around!

Good brakes, steering is tight, drives straight and true, trans shifts normally, good power from IDI. Has stock Ford 4:10 super duty limited slip differential (positraction), will claw its way through mud, snow, sand no problem (MT tires recommended if you want to do that!). Does smoke slightly at higher elevations (above 4000 feet, very typical of non-turbo diesels) but below that it's as clean as an IDI gets. Mechanical injector pump means you can run just about anything oily for fuel - my buddies runs all over the country on filtered waste motor oil (WMO) so they pay little or nothing for fuel! Plenty of room in back to setup a filtration station and space underneath for extra fuel tanks. Few little drips here and there, comes standard with all IDIs!

Sold as-is, where-is, no warranty expressed or implied. We welcome and encourage inspections prior to bidding; once you buy it, you own it! Clear Texas title. Buyer responsible for all shipping charges. Vehicle is located in Ash Fork, AZ 86320, directly on I-40. Will cooperate with shipping companies to coordinate pickup as needed, or just come drive it away. No reserve, final bid takes it. Thanks for looking, feel free to ask questions!

THERE IS NO EMERGENCY LIGHTING OR SIREN ON THIS VEHICLE!

Former Cadillac boss Butler takes Ford tech job

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

When Don Butler made the surprising decision to leave his post as Cadillac's VP of global strategic development, it was a surprise. Citing a desire to "recalibrate, reassess my priorities" in that August announcement, it wasn't entirely clear where Butler - a virtual General Motors lifer after spending nearly 30 years with the company - would end up. Turns out he took a trip to Dearborn.
Butler has taken a position in the newly created position of Executive Director of Connected Vehicles and Services at Ford, where he'll be responsible for the Blue Oval's global connectivity strategy. "Not only does Don understand the connected car landscape, but probably just as important, he understands customer expectations," said Raj Nair, who, as Group Vice President of Global Product Development, is Butler's new boss. "Having a leader with technology experience both inside and outside the industry is a rare combination - we're excited to have Don join our team."
As Ford has received its fair share of flak for the sometimes recalcitrant MyFord Touch infotainment system and its Sync voice-controls, it appears that Butler has his work cut out for him.

XCAR stages epic drag race between Ford GT40, GT70 and GT

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

XCAR has put together what it believes is a first - a drag race between Ford's legendary, Le Mans-winning GT40, the more recent GT supercar it inspired and the little-known GT70 rally car. The three mid-engined monsters were all built for very different purposes, and not surprisingly, they come to battle with very different powertrains.
The GT40 is powered by a thumping, naturally aspirated V8. This example, which looks like a Mark IV model, is likely powered by a 7.0-liter engine, although it's not entirely clear how much power it's putting down. The GT70, meanwhile, was Ford's response to the Lancia Stratos. Considering that the Lancia is one of the greatest rally cars in history and many of you are probably just hearing of the GT70 for the first time, you can imagine how much success Ford had with it. Only six were produced before a change in regulations doomed this mid-engined rally car.
The Ford GT, meanwhile, doesn't really need an introduction. 550 horsepower is on offer from a 5.4-liter, supercharged V8, which keeps the GT competitive even against more modern supercars. 60 miles per hour arrives in well under four seconds while the top speed sits at 212 mph. Not bad for a car that went out of production in 2006.

Ford to cease Australian automaking operations after 90 years

Thu, 23 May 2013

Ford began manufacturing cars in Australia in 1925 with the Model T. In 2016, Ford will stop manufacturing cars Down Under, including the Falcon and the Territory SUV. Ford Australia CEO Bob Graziano has reportedly confirmed the closure of the company's Broadmeadows assembly plant and the Geelong engine plant, both in the state of Victoria. There will be 650 jobs lost at Broadmeadows, 510 sacrificed at Geelong. Of the roughly 3,000 workers the Blue Oval has in Australia, it's said it will try to retain about 1,000 of them at its R&D and product development facilities.
The writing hasn't just been on the wall, it's been a regular item in all the papers and on Ford's bottom line for years. As recently as 2003, Ford sold nearly 75,000 Falcons, but over the next four years, annual sales dropped by something like 10,000 units, and over the last two years, it has sold less than 20,000 per year. It isn't only Ford that has suffered - sales of the other large, locally produced sedan, the Holden Commodore, have also gone over the precipice, triggering the same kind of angst about Holden's continued existence. Ford is the smallest of Australia's local automakers, Holden and Toyota the others, and has posted losses of $AUD141 million last year ($136M US) and $AUD600 million ($580M US) in the past five years. Graziano said the cost of manufacturing is simply too expensive in the country, twice as high as Europe and three times as high as Asia, and there no way to make a business case for staying in the country.
In January 2012, Ford Australia announced it would stay in the country until at least 2016, but by July of the same year, most outside observers were quietly declaring that 2016 would be the last year of Ford Down Under, and even the speculation was making other observers nervous. Ford received money from the Victorian government last year to aid its refresh of the Falcon and Territory, which will continue on schedule for the 2014 model year. A front- and all-wheel-drive sedan on a global platform is predicted to replace the Falcon, with some other SUV expected to replace the Territory. The company says it still intends to expand its lineup in the country.
