I am selling my 1972 Ford Econoline E-200. Moving forces sale. This is a barn find van that I found in the mountains of Virginia last summer. The mileage is unknown. I listed what is on the odometer. This van is an unmolested, totally original as ordered van. And yes it was a special order. It is an E200 with E-300 axles and springs and 8 lug wheels. It has factory air. I was told it worked when put in storage in 1996. I am the third owner. The first owner purchased it to haul mule teams to competition. The second owners used it for flea market duty. The color blue while now faded was a special color. It is optioned out like a Chateau model on the inside, but is bare bones and void of chrome on the outside. It is a long wheelbase Super Van. It runs excellent, starts on the first try and purrs. The transmission works but hesitates when first put in gear. I am in the process of replacing the master cylinder, front wheel cylinders and front brake hoses, because while it will get up and go, it will not stop unless you use the emergency brake. Right now everything works on it except the brakes and I don't know about the air conditioner. Tires hold air but are dry rotted. Have all 4 hubcaps. All glass is good but the windshield seal will need to be replaced eventually as it leaks. Has no seats in the back. No rust on the underside except the usual light underside surface rust. One rust hole in right rear quarter.
Interior and engine photos to follow on 27 February.
This van is as factory original as you will get. Everything is in its original place. No jury rigged repairs. If you wanted to know what one looked like from the factory under the engine cover and hood, this is it. This van was purchased and stayed within 50 miles of its purchase loaction its entire life until I brought it to Yorktown. The two bright blue photos were taken after it was washed. The dark discoloration on the right rear corner was mildew.
Please ask questions before bidding. This van is sold as is, where is with no warranties expressed or implied. If you have less than ten (10) feedbacks, contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid.
On Feb-27-13 at 04:45:44 PST, seller added the following information:
This van was purchased to use as a tow vehicle for camping. Unfortunately I am moving a distance that would be cost prohibitive to ship at this time. I will be adding a photo of the stamped VIN # along with interior and engine photos later today, 27 February.
Also the roof was coated with a white paint. I believe it is mobile home roof coating. It has preserved the roof well but for some reason a particulat type of algae likes it and those are what the spots are on the roof. It is not rust, although there is some very light surface rust on the roof.
If anyone would like specific photos, let me know and I will add them during the course of the auction. If there are local buyers I am available to show the van.

Ford blamed in drug mule lawsuit
Tue, 30 Jul 2013If a college student is caught smuggling drugs across the border, one might think the kid got what was coming to him. But when a Mexican student at the University of Texas in El Paso was caught by Border Patrol agents with duffel bags filled with marijuana in his trunk, the man used a classic excuse: He claimed they weren't his.
While a claim like that is almost unbelievable, Ricardo Magallanes, the student, is now suing Ford for handling its vehicles' key codes negligently enough to allow drug smugglers to break into his Ford Focus and stash the drugs, The Daily Caller reports. The twist here is that four other people who lived in Juarez and worked in El Paso were involved in the same type of scheme - allegedly unwittingly, just like Magallanes - and all the cars were Fords except one model from General Motors. FBI agents also found an employee at a Dallas Ford dealership that had accessed the key codes to all four of the cannabis-stuffed Fords.
While we all may not own Fords, the case still causes us slight paranoia. We'll definitely be checking our trunks before we cross any more international borders.
10 most memorable cars and SUVs of 2019
Tue, Dec 24 2019It's no surprise that a car reviewer will drive a large number of cars over the course of a year. Indeed, when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, I will have driven 75 new cars, trucks and SUV this year (and one old Peugeot) over the course of weekly evaluation loans and first drive events. That sure seems like a lot. Some definitely got more attention than others, and some came and went without leaving much of an impression – I completely forgot I drove a Kia Forte. Yet in the spirit of this day, I thought I'd pick the 10 that I would love to see under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. You know, just in case you were looking to get me something. I'll also throw in a couple disappointments that were memorable for the wrong reasons. They'd get sent back to the store on Boxing Day. Lexus LC 500 Pictured below and resplendent in its Flare Yellow metallic paint, the car that would reach highest on my list is the divine Lexus LC 500. As a devout lover of GT cars, the LC ticks all the boxes. Muscular and characterful engine? V8, check. Beautifully made and memorable interior? It's gorgeous, to hell with Remote Touch. Check. Comfortable and reasonably practical? Superb seats and, uh, yeah. Makes me want to stand there and stare at it? You bet. Though I long figured my heart would say LC but my head "Porsche 911," after this go-around, that's no longer the case. LC, pretty please. 2020-lexus-lc500-f34-2 View 19 Photos Polestar 1 I actually feel lucky that I got to drive the Polestar 1. Only 150 will be produced each year, and it's a far more special thing than it would initially appear. And that's despite initially appearing to be a beautiful, classic two-door GT car with a roof so rakish it's only possible because it's made of carbon fiber. That itÂ’s a massively powerful plug-in hybrid with more all-electric range than any other PHEV is a thick dollop of whipped cream on a slice of Toscakaka. You know, Swedish dessert, Swedish car. Fine, I'll stick to Ikea references. Polestar1_Launch_SanFrancisco-0014 View 44 Photos Volvo V60 Cross Country Speaking of Sweden, did I drive this car off the road there? Sure did! And despite this, the V60 Cross Country scratches that certain wagon itch and looks sensational to boot. I wish it were available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, but it's best not to get greedy at Christmas.
Bill Ford augments his power by nearly doubling stake of supervoting shares
Fri, 28 Jun 2013Bill Ford Jr. has more sway than ever over the automaker that bears his surname, as the great-grandson of Ford's founder has reportedly doubled is holdings of Class B Ford stock. According to a report from Reuters (which cites a newly discovered securities filing), he acquired some 3.7 million Class B shares from an unnamed family member.
Class B shares of Ford stock are held by descendants of Henry Ford and offer expanded voting power to their holders - Bill Ford Jr. now controls roughly 11.5 percent of the total Class B pool. Ford Jr. is also a one of five trustees that manage a voting trust that oversees the majority of these "supervoting" shares. In total, Reuters reports there are 71 million Class B shares that account for 40 percent of the voting power in the company, despite making up just 2 percent of the total volume of all Ford stock.
Ford Jr. served as Ford's CEO until 2006, when he stepped down to hire and make space for current CEO, Alan Mulally. The move to consolidate Ford family voting power, at least somewhat, is seen by many as a comforting sign with Mulally's departure from the company likely to happen in the next several years.
