Mechanically- Z5 Axle ratio drives very smoothly. Just serviced with new oil change, new transmission service with Marcon V, rear end fluid is clean, new air filter, A/C is ice cold, heat blows hot. This vehicle is smooth and quiet with no issues. Vehicle has (4) newer matching Goodyear RS-A tires 235/55/17 tires. Front and rear brakes are in good condition. All lights work, power door locks and windows work. Transmission shifts nice and smooth and engine operates as it should. There are no leaks of any kind and this vehicle is ready for its new home. Vehicle drives just like new. Exterior-is nice and very clean. This vehicle Never had any exterior lights or push bumper. Paint is nice and clean and without any noticeable scratches or imperfections. Interior-Interior has is nice and clean without any holes from equipment. The ritual can be as beautiful as the sunrise to those with enthusiast hearts, but it's just as common.
Ford picks Fiesta ST, Transit Connect as this year's SEMA darlings
Sat, 02 Feb 2013SEMA is more than nine months away, but the reveille bugle for the show has just sounded with Ford's call to aftermarket companies for its project-vehicle program. The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST and 2014 Transit Connect van and wagon are the cars The Blue Oval wants to feature, but applicants can submit project vehicles for any product except the GT500, the Raptor, or anything from Lincoln.
Submissions must be completed in two parts, the first being an email to Ford with an overview of the project, like vehicle theme, promotional plan and location display. The second part must be mailed in on company letterhead and gets down to the nuts and bolts of the vision and the provision of company bona fides. The complete proposal is due on March 1, winners will be notified by May 1. Nuclear-powered concept cars from the Atomic Age
Thu, 17 Jul 2014In the 1950s and early 60s, the dawn of nuclear power was supposed to lead to a limitless consumer culture, a world of flying cars and autonomous kitchens all powered by clean energy. In Europe, it offered the then-limping continent a cheap, inexhaustible supply of power after years of rationing and infrastructure damage brought on by two World Wars.
The development of nuclear-powered submarines and ships during the 1940s and 50s led car designers to begin conceptualizing atomic vehicles. Fueled by a consistent reaction, these cars would theoretically produce no harmful byproducts and rarely need to refuel. Combining these vehicles with the new interstate system presented amazing potential for American mobility.
But the fantasy soon faded. There were just too many problems with the realities of nuclear power. For starters, the powerplant would be too small to attain a reaction unless the car contained weapons-grade atomic materials. Doing so would mean every fender-bender could result in a minor nuclear holocaust. Additionally, many of the designers assumed a lightweight shielding material or even forcefields would eventually be invented (they still haven't) to protect passengers from harmful radiation. Analyses of the atomic car concept at the time determined that a 50-ton lead barrier would be necessary to prevent exposure.
