It has been a while since I have sold a car here, but I thought it might be time to try again. Up for sale is a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. The car is being sold with NO RESERVE! It was used by a sheriff's department in southern Wisconsin and is in about as good of a condition as you can get! They have a history of turning cars over quickly and I am sure this one off the first retired 2011 cruisers on eBay. It does show 122,859 miles. They are all highway miles as that department does not contract with any cities in the county. This Crown Vic comes with many desired options, and has the rare Arizona Beige Metallic color. The interior is Light Camel, and is INCREDIBLY clean! It is in great condition, and it's hard to do better!

Some small changes were made for the 2011 model year. The front seat bolsters and headrests were redone. It does feel different than previous Crown Vics. The bolster switch was relocated to the right bottom of the seat. Side airbags became standard equipment. This car is equipped with the 'plug and play' option. All of the wiring for the strobe lights and the light bar is still there. The wig wag module it still mounted under hood and I am sure would still work if powered. All wiring is hidden away, but can be accessed.

A walk around the car shows a nearly perfect body. I found 1 ding on a quarter panel, and 1 scuff on the rear bumper cover. They are so small that the camera couldn't pick them up! It had a couple of stone chips of which I touched up. This car does not have holes all over it either. They are only in the roof. The only hole that is sealed and plugged was for the light bar. The radio antennas and the GPS antenna are still on the car creating no holes. Spotlight works good. Headlights are crystal clear. All glass in the car is perfect as well with no chips, cracks, or pits. Overall, I would call the body a 9-9.5. They are hard to find this straight!

The interior is the Light Camel color. In police form, it is very hard to keep clean. This is the cleanest I have seen in this color. Apparently, no one ever had coffee in this car! Rare options like carpet and cloth back seat come with this car. It looks like none of the seats have been sat in as they are that clean. It appears that some minor upholstery work was done on the back of the drivers seat. Likely rubbed through cloth from the partition. The steering wheel has some dye rubbed off of it. Driving gloves, I am guessing... The carpet only has very minor dirt stains, but they are hard to find. The sheriff's department did swipe the floor mats out of it, though. The headliner does show some minor wear from the partition. Look at the pics. Can it come cleaner?

The 4.6 SOHC V8 engine starts and runs perfectly. The motor can run on gasoline or E85. It pulls very nicely and has the power that it is supposed to have. The transmission is spot on with no erratic or sloppy shifts. The car is equipped with the 3.27 locking axle. It just received a Mobil 1 oil change (drum here to prove it) with an OE oil filter. Everything works as it should. There are no check engine, or any other trouble lights on. Goodyear Eagle RSA tires show 50% on front and 70% on the rear.  Just turn the key and fire it up, and go anywhere you want.

Unlike other eBay sellers, I try to provide a COMPLETE description of the car. If you have any questions, please ask. I will respond promptly. Once again, the Crown Vic is being sold with NO RESERVE and a low price of $6250 to start. You can't find 2011s this clean at the auction for this price! I will accept cash or certified funds as payment. Payment must be made within 7 days of completion of auction, and removal within 14 days of completion of auction. If you want to fly and drive, I will pick you up at Mitchell International in Milwaukee and take you to the car with no charge. Good luck!

Focus STs for SEMA include Lotus and Gulf liveries, rally-fied police car

Tue, 22 Oct 2013

Ford, as we mentioned on Saturday, is pulling out all the stops for November's SEMA show, bringing 57 vehicles to the Las Vegas event. Ford will be staggering the release of its SEMA flotilla, though, so expect to hear a lot about the new additions to the fleet in the weeks to come. We already showed you the Fiesta, Fiesta ST and Mustang models that made up the first batch of SEMA cars. Next up, we have a quartet of modded Focus STs joining Ford's SEMA roster.
Our first Focus ST (pictured above) sports the legendary livery of Gulf Racing. The orange-on-blue scheme, which Ford helped make famous at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has been updated for 2013, with a more vibrant blue. This ST was built by Universal Technical Institute, while the exterior was done by Neil Tjin of Tjin Edition. Side exhausts, a Vortech supercharger and a Motiv Concepts high-flow cat allow the ST to breathe a bit easier, while Forgestar wheels contrast well with the iconic paint scheme.
Focus ST number two has been done-up by PM Lifestyle and is inspired by "Southern California car culture." Sporting a sleek, pale blue paint job, there's also no shortage of carbon fiber on the car's exterior. The 2.0-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine has been massaged by the likes of Banks Power, COBB Tuning and Ford Racing, while the suspension is wearing a shiny, new set of coilovers and sway bars. The meaty brakes, tucked behind 19-inch, Rotiform wheels, come from Wilwood, while the cabin has been fitted with a pair of Sparco Chrono seats and five-point, Schroth harnesses.

Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015

Tue, Feb 11 2014

Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper. For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011. The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors. While the adoption of SAE J2807 will be helpful for light-duty customers, those interested in bigger trucks will still be left with differing standards. There is no sign of the new tow standards being adopted for the heavy-duty market.

Would you pay $17 a month to give your older Ford connectivity?

Fri, Mar 30 2018

When it was first introduced in 2007, there was nothing like the original Ford Sync system, since it allowed car owners to connect and use a portable device better than anything that came before it. And because it was a brought-in/tethered and software-based system, Sync leveraged a device's connectivity and was easily updated. It took competitors awhile to catch up: Toyota Entune wasn't available until 2011, and Chevy MyLink didn't roll out until 2012. But now Ford is the one playing catchup since it stuck with the brought-in strategy while most other automakers were quicker to add connectivity via an embedded cellular modem. Ford initially installed 2G/3G modems in its small fleet of electric and plug-in electric vehicles starting in 2012 so that owners could keep tabs on charging. Embedded connectivity came to Lincoln in 2014, and Ford began adding onboard 4G LTE via Sync Connect to select cars starting with the Escape in 2015. To get more cars connected more quickly, last week the automaker rolled out its FordPass SmartLink solution that plugs into the OBD port of 2010 to 2017 model year vehicles. This lets owners retroactively get onboard Wi-Fi, set up a "geo-fence" to keep tabs on a car's location, receive vehicle health reports and allows remote engine starting and door locking/unlocking using a smartphone app, among other features. But to connect older Ford vehicles will cost owners $16.99 a month for two years, not including installation. Ford throws in 1 GB of data or a 30-day trial, whichever comes first, after which owners have to add the vehicle to their Verizon shared data plan, which supplies connectivity for SmartLink, or establish a new account. (Disclosure: Autoblog is owned by Verizon.) By comparison, GM's 4G LTE data plans start at $10 a month for 200 MB and goes up to $30 for 3 GB, and owners can also add a car to an AT&T shared-data plan. But OnStar doesn't have a separate monthly subscription for the embedded modem or an installation charge, and standard features via the RemoteLink Mobile App are free for the first five years of ownership. FCA's Uconnect Access service also uses an embedded modem to provide similar telematics features for $20 per month following a free one-year trial, while a la carte in-car Wi-Fi is offered for $10 per day, $20 per week or $35 per month.
