2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor on 2040-cars

Year:2011 Mileage:89806
Location:

La Grange, Illinois, United States

La Grange, Illinois, United States

The La Grange, Illinois (Cook County) Police Department is offering the following vehicle for sale by auction:

2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, with a mileage of 89,806 miles.

The vehicle is surplus property of the Village Of La Grange and MUST be sold according to Illinois law; it MUST be sold in an auction-type setting such as eBay.  There is NO Buy-It-Now option.  We will NOT accept any trades for this vehicle.  The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with NO existing warranty, neither express nor implied.  ALL sales are FINAL, NO returns will be accepted, and NO price adjustments will be given.  The vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder after the starting price has been satisfied.  There is NO reserve on this vehicle-the starting price is bottom line what we will accept for this vehicle-DO NOT MAKE AN OFFER!  If the vehicle does not sell, it will either be relisted or sent to a public auction.

Again, the vehicle has 89,806 miles.  There is no major damage or rust on the body of the vehicle-just normal wear-n-tear scratches, dings and dents.  The vehicle has power windows, locks, mirrors, trunk release, driver seat lumbar/recline, power cut-off switch (allows you to push switch, take keys out of ignition, and the car will keep running.  The car cannot be put into drive until the keys are placed back in the ignition to prevent theft).  The vehicle also has rear defrost, dome light, interior lighting, spotlight, power adjustable gas pedal, manual tilt steering wheel, AM/FM stereo, spotlight, air conditioning ALL IN GOOD WORKING ORDER.  The vehicle also has cruise control, however, we do not know if it is working, as we did not use it-it probably works.  The vehicle has driver and passenger-side air bags and ABS braking.  The vehicle's two front seats are cloth and in good shape, but dirty.  The rear vinyl seating is brand new/never used.  When the vehicle was a patrol car, we had a molding plastic seat in the rear, which has since been removed.  The vinyl flooring appears to be in good shape, but dirty.  The tires appear to be in good condition.  There are no illuminated warning signals on in the dash indicating any malfunction with the vehicle.  It appears to be running and driving fine.  All lights, lamps, signals, horn, wipers, etc. are all in good working order.

The vehicle, again, shows normal wear-n-tear scratches, dings, and dents.  There was a dent in the passenger-side rear 1/4, which was "hammered out."  There are scratches on the front bumper-passenger side.  The police decals were professionally removed, however, some of the glue is slightly visible.  A good detailing of the vehicle should eliminate the glue.  The top outside of the roof has two plugged holes, which were originally drilled for police equipment (no leaks-professionally plugged).  The inside roof liner has a couple small holes between the driver and passenger seat, which once housed a police camera system.  There is also a very small hole in back of the dome light from equipment.  The hanger clip is missing from the rear passenger side.  Lastly, the vehicle will need a good detailing.  The following reflects the service record for the vehicle for more major items:

Air Bag Jewels, warning lamp and V Belt replaced 051710, A/C Diode and Relay replaced 062210, Water Pump Assembly and Front Braked replaced  091710, Ignition System, Transmission Flush, Fuel Filter all completed 030912, Front/Rear Lower Ball Joints, Transmission, Cooler/Condenser, Front Brakes/Rotors/Pads all replaced 062512, Rear Axle Bearings/Seals, Front/Rear Braked all replaced 100212, Air Bag Jewels/Warning Lamp replaced 110812, Driver Seat Cushion Rebuilt 120612, Transmission Filter, Alignment completed 121912, Cooling Fan Motor/Fan Assembly Fuel Filter, Drive Belt, Transmission Fluid Flush, Fuel Filter Injector Flush all completed 060413, New Tires, Fuel Filter replaced 062713, Vehicle Involved In a Traffic Crash to the Passenger Side Rear Bumper in the Amount of $865.19-MINOR on 081913, Thermostat and Seal replaced 110413, Water Pump, V Belt, and Front Brake Pads replaced 021814.  All routine maintenance and repairs completed on a regular basis by our certified village mechanic, dealership, or outsourced to a professional auto shop.

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022

Thu, Mar 17 2016

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.

Europe's most-wanted classic car is... the Ford Mustang?

Sat, 28 Sep 2013

Over the span of its 49 years and five generations, the Ford Mustang has held a special place in the hearts of automotive enthusiasts in the US, but, as it turns out, this car is also very popular amongst European car lovers. Earlier this summer, AutoScout24 - a new and used car shopping site in Europe - polled around 75,000 European "car lovers" (not sure how they vetted the respondents) to see which cars were the most popular, and the Mustang came out on top over iconic European classics like the BMW M1 and Volkswagen Beetle.
In the whole of Europe, 37 percent of those polled dream of owning a Mustang, but that number jumps in individual countries like Austria (42 percent) and Spain (41 percent). Rounding out the top five popular classics in Europe are the Mini and Citroën 2CV. Find out which cars made up the rest of the top 10 in the press release posted below.

Big electric trucks won't save the planet, says the NYT

Tue, Feb 21 2023

When The New York Times decides that an issue is an issue, be prepared to read about it at length. Rarely will a week passes these days when the esteemed news organization doesn’t examine the realities, myths and alleged benefits and drawbacks of electric vehicles, and even The Atlantic joins in sometimes. That revolution, marked by changes in manufacturing, consumer habits and social “consciousness,” may in fact be upon us. Or it may not. Nonetheless, the newspaper appears committed to presenting to the public these pros and cons. In this recently published article titled, “Just How Good for the Planet Is That Big Electric Pickup Truck?”—wow, thatÂ’s a mouthful — the Times focuses on the “bigness” of the current and pending crop of EVs, and how that impacts or will impact the environment and road safety. This is not what news organizations these days are fond of calling “breaking news.” In October, we pointed to an essay in The Atlantic that covered pretty much the same ground, and focused on the Hummer as one particular villain, In the paper and online on Feb. 18, the Times' Elana Shao observes how “swapping a gas pickup truck for a similar electric one can produce significant emissions savings.” She goes on: “Take the Ford F-150 pickup truck compared with the electric F-150 Lightning. The electric versions are responsible for up to 50 percent less greenhouse gas emissions per mile.” But she right away flips the argument, noting the heavier electric pickup trucks “often require bigger batteries and more electricity to charge, so they end up being responsible for more emissions than other smaller EVs. Taking into consideration the life cycle emissions per mile, they end up just as polluting as some smaller gas-burning cars.” Certainly, itÂ’s been drummed into our heads that electric cars donÂ’t run on air and water but on electricity that costs money, and that the public will be dealing with “the shift toward electric SUVs, pickup trucks and crossover vehicles, with some analysts estimating that SUVs, pickup trucks and vans could make up 78 percent of vehicle sales by 2025." No-brainer alert: Big vehicles cost more to charge. And then thereÂ’s the safety question, which was cogently addressed in the Atlantic story. Here Shao reiterates data documenting the increased risks of injuries and deaths caused by larger, heavier vehicles.
