2009 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
La Grange, Illinois, United States
The La Grange, Illinois (Cook County) Police Department is offering the following vehicle for sale by auction: 2009 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Sedan 4-Door 4.6L with a mileage of 102,483 miles. This vehicle is surplus property of the Village Of La Grange and MUST be sold according to Illinois law; it MUST be sold in an auction-type setting such as eBay. There is NO Buy-It-Now option. We will NOT accept any trades for this vehicle. The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with NO existing warranty, neither express nor implied. ALL sales are FINAL, NO returns will be accepted, and NO price adjustments will be given. The vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder after the starting price has been satisfied. There is NO reserve on this vehicle-the starting price is bottom line what we will accept for this vehicle-DO NOT MAKE AN OFFER! If the vehicle does not sell, it will either be relisted or sent to a public auction. Again, the vehicle has 102,483 original miles. There is no major damage or rust to the body of the vehicle-just normal wear-n-tear scratches, dings, and dents. The vehicle has power locks, windows, mirrors, trunk release, power driver's seat lumbar/recline, power cut-off switch (allows you to push the button and take the ignition key out to keep the car running, however, it cannot be placed in drive and stolen), rear defrost, dome light, interior lights, and spotlight ALL IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. The vehicle also has a manual tilt steering wheel, power adjustable gas pedal, AM/FM Stereo, and air conditioning that is in good working order. The vehicle is equipped with cruise control, however, we did not use it often and don't know if it still functions (probably works). The vehicle has driver's-side and passenger-side air bags. The vehicle's exterior lights, lamps, signals, wipers, defrost, spotlight, etc. are all in good working order. There are no illuminated lights on in the dash indicating any problems with the vehicle. The tires are in good condition. Lastly, all routine and major maintenance was completed by either our village certified mechanic, dealership, or outsourced to other professional shops. The vehicle shows normal signs of wear-n-tear including scratches, dings, and dents, however, again, there are no major imperfections in the vehicle's body. The exterior of the vehicle's roof has three small holes that were drilled for a police light bar that was removed. The holes have since been plugged after the removal of the light bar. The police decals on the exterior have all been removed, however, some glue is slightly visible. A good detailing of the vehicle should eliminate the glue marks. The interior roof liner has a couple of small holes between the front driver's seat and the front passenger seat that once house a police camera (has been removed). There is also a very small hole in the interior roof liner behind the dome light (barely visible). The rear vinyl seat is brand new. When the vehicle was a police vehicle, we had a plastic molded seat in the rear that has since been removed. The original seat has been placed back in the vehicle. The front cloth seats are in fair to good condition, but will need to be cleaned. The vinyl flooring in the vehicle appears to be in good condition. The vehicle has a slight smell of burning oil, however, there are no visible signs by us (untrained mechanics). Ford, GM still doing new business with Takata amidst airbag crisis
Thu, Nov 20 2014Lengthy vehicle development times make it difficult for automakers to cut and run from the supplier. You might expect automakers to be fleeing any connection with beleaguered supplier Takata in the wake of the company's exploding airbag inflator crisis. After all, with a Senate hearing, pending lawsuit, plummeting stock value and demand for a national recall, the tier-one supplier isn't at its strongest right now. However, years of cooperation mean that automakers are standing by Takata, and necessity may be playing a role, as well. About 39 percent of Takata's business comes from airbags, and seatbelts make up another significant chunk of the operation too, says Bloomberg. The long-term relationships and lengthy vehicle development times make it difficult for automakers to cut and run from the supplier. "Takata has so much product breadth that I don't really see that they could just disappear," said AutoPacific analyst Dave Sullivan to Bloomberg. For example, Takata helped develop the unique front center airbag with General Motors in models like the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Outside of safety tech, it is also a partner with Ford on the adaptive steering system available on the upcoming 2015 Edge. These long-lasting partnerships make change difficult now that there's a problem. According to Reuters, automakers claim it would take a year or longer to set up with a different supplier for replacement airbag inflators. Switching to a completely different part for the repairs might not be a viable option either, because of the engineering time needed. BMW is taking action, though. According to Reuters, the Bavarian brand is working with the supplier to move inflator production from Monclova, Mexico, to a Takata factory in Freiburg, Germany. The Mexican plant may be the source of some of the faulty parts. News Source: Bloomberg, ReutersImage Credit: Jens Meyer / AP Photo BMW Ford GM Safety Takata airbag recall
Ford C-Max sales hold steady despite fuel economy fracas
Mon, 09 Sep 2013Despite the ballyhoo that accompanied Ford's lowering of the C-Max fuel economy figures, the Blue Oval is still seeing strong demand for the five-seat MPV, as Automotive News reports. Speaking to marketing boss Jim Farley, AN says that the controversy surrounding the C-Max's fuel economy figures won't force Ford to change its marketing strategy.
Ford lowered the fuel economy rating of the C-Max after public outcry and legal action by customers that were unable to reach the 47 miles per gallon promised by the window sticker. The new ratings were dropped about a month ago to 45 mpg on the freeway and 40 mpg in the city. Ford offered rebates for current C-Max owners, with $550 going to those that bought their car and $325 to lessees. The issue, says Ford, stemmed from testing standards that allowed the automaker to base the C-Max's fuel economy on the Fusion Hybrid, because they use identical powertrains. The C-Max's less aerodynamic shape wasn't taken into account, though.
Whether Ford's PR team handled the crises perfectly or people just aren't that bothered by a four-mpg drop in combined ratings, demand remains strong for the C-Max among consumers. Ford moved 3,000 units in August, which was a 12-percent jump over July sales. Meanwhile, consumer demand through third-party shopping websites remains strong as well, according to Autometrics, a data analysis company that spoke with Automotive News. While the long-term effects of the adjustments remain unknown, the C-Max appears to have fared well in the near term.
