This 2003 Ford Crown Victoria was purchased new by a local county law enforcement agency and was used by county detectives with a no pursuit policy. This car is a true factory Police Interceptor and has the rare complete street appearance package. We took this car as they were taking it out of service and then went over the entire car in our own in house service shop. Everything on this car works 100%. The heat blows hot, the air conditioning is ice cold, all of the power windows and door locks work, the cruise control works (another rare option on P71's).

This car is green on the exterior and a light tan on the interior. The car has normal cloth seats and full carpeting, just like a normal Crown Victoria. You can see by the pictures that this car does not having mounting holes for radio antenna's or a light bar. It has full wheel covers and a body painted tail in place of the standard black with the words "Crown Victoria" in place of the "Police interceptor" emblem.

The vehicle has just over 98k on it which averages out to less than 10000 miles a year which is low for anybody, let alone for police use. This was was GARAGE KEPT in the county garage year round, it was serviced on a regular basis and after we finished with the car we put on brand new Pennsylvania safety and emissions stickers good until 06/2014. We put on a set of four new tires and replaced the battery. The car starts with ease, and runs and shifts perfectly.

If you have an interest in this outstanding unmarked example of a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor or any of our other P71's please call us at Carlevale Custom Cars at 717-685-1341. Since this car is for sale on our lot we reserve the right to end the auction early should it sell.

Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.

Social media star Scott Monty leaves Ford

Thu, 22 May 2014

It seems weird to think that an automaker could have a social media star, but Ford does. Or at least it did. Scott Monty, its Global Digital Communications Manager, led the company's team for almost six years and forged a reputation as being one of the most talented people in corporate social media. But the guru recently announced that he would be leaving the automaker for an undisclosed job elsewhere.
"I just decided the time was right. I am going to take a little time with my family, and I am going to start on a new adventure pretty soon," said Monty in an interview with AdWeek. He also explained a little about his theory of how companies should use social media. In his opinion, it should be a chance to go beyond standard marketing and build a relationship with people. Businesses need to have a broad focus for its online message, and using just one service isn't enough to be successful.
Under his guidance, Ford expanded its Facebook presence significantly. According to AdWeek, it launched the 2010 Explorer on the popular site. Also, when the company wanted to investigate selling electric models, it initially gauged the public's reaction on Facebook and then advertised them there first. Monty has been a major supporter of Twitter as well to broaden the company's communication with the public.

Ford recalling 205k Edge and Lincoln MKX units for possible corrosion

Thu, 30 Oct 2014

After the horrible weather last winter, it's hard to look forward for the season to return this year. For those readers in much of the country, the snow is going to be flying soon, and with it comes salt on the roads. That means Ford's regional recall for the 2007-2008 Edge and Lincoln MKX arrives at the perfect time because they are at risk for corrosion.
The campaign covers 204,448 examples of the models in 21 states, plus the District of Columbia and some provinces of Canada. In total there are 186,024 vehicles in need of repair in the US and 18,424 in Canada.
According to Ford, it's possible for the area, "under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" to corrode. If this happens, there might be a gas smell in the vehicle or even a fuel leak could develop. In fact, the automaker reports that one fire could be related to the problem but no injuries or accidents are reported.
