I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM A SMALL DEPARTMENT IN FLORIDA THAT MY BROTHER IS THE MECHANIC FOR. THIS CAR WAS USED FOR CRASH INVESTIGATION AND WAS NEVER A PATROL VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE CAR SIMPLY TO HAVE SOMETHING FUN AND RELIABLE TO DRIVE BUT HAVE SINCE BOUGHT A NEW DODGE CHARGER. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED. WHEN THE CAR CAME UP FOR SALE MY BROTHER WAS VERY CONFIDENT THAT THIS WAS ONE OF THE NICEST CARS. IT WAS ASSIGNED TO THE SAME OFFICER SINCE IT WAS NEW. THE ONLY FLAW WITH THE CAR IS THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS A 2" TEAR FROM GETTING IN AND OUT. CAR HAS A CENTER CONSOLE IN IT AND INSIDE HAS NO OTHER FLAWS. SPOTLIGHT WORKS AS DOES INTERIOR TICKET LIGHT. THERE ARE NO HOLES FROM ANTENNAS ON THE EXTERIOR. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND MY BROTHER HOOKED ME UP WITH FRESH FLUIDS, BRAKES AND NEW TIRES BEFORE THE CAR WAS SOLD TO ME. I HAVE PUT AROUND 4,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT IS A BLAST TO DRIVE. WINDOWS ARE LIGHTLY TINTED. CAR IS LOCATED IN ATHENS, PA AND I CAN DRIVE IT TO BUYER FOR EXPENSES AND A TICKET HOME. I FLEW TO FLORIDA AND DROVE THE CAR BACK TO PA IN JANUARY. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR AND I WOULD DRIVE IT ACROSS THE COUNTRY IN A HEARTBEAT. Chris Harris checks out Ken Block's Hoonicorn '65 Mustang
Thu, Dec 4 2014Ken Block's Hoonicorn, which stars in Gymkhana Seven, might still bear a passing resemblance to a vintage 1965 Ford Mustang, but underneath the skin, the car is one of the baddest custom machines to ever do a smoky burnout on the road. The ever enthusiastic British auto journalist Chris Harris is now showing what really makes Block's new ride tick on video, and Harris even gets to go for quite a ride. The only Mustang components really left on the Hoonicorn are the A-pillar, B-pillar and roof, according to Harris. Everything else is ditched to create Block's ultimate Gymkhana tool. The 845-horsepower, 6.7-liter Rousch Yates V8 sits behind the front axle, and the grunt is routed to all four wheels through a Sadev gearbox usually found on Dakar Rally vehicles. The whole drivetrain is packed with cool little touches; like that giant handbrake that also disconnects power from the front wheels when in use. The superlatives about the Hoonicorn could go on forever, but settle in and let a very excited Harris tell you about just some of them. He's like a kid in a candy store here, and the look that combines surprise, fear and joy during his ride with Block is the kind that lacks a suitable word in the English language.
Ford hit by lawsuit over hybrid technology from, surprise, Paice
Fri, Feb 28 2014The name Paice will be familiar to anyone who's been deep in the weeds of hybrid history, but it will probably be new to anyone who simply drives one. The key part of the story is something called "HyperDrive," which is the name given to a gas-electric powertrain technology developed by Alex Severinsky and patented in 1994. HyperDrive is a way to get the energy from both the electric battery and the engine into the wheels, seamlessly. The patents are held by Paice, which is an unusual company (its HQ is a house in a retirement community, right by a golf course) that does nothing but litigate. You can read more on Paice here. The latest case targets Ford and the hybrid and plug-in versions of the C-Max and Fusion models as well as the Lincoln MKZ. Paice claims that it held "over 100 meetings and interactions with Ford" between 1999 and 2004, and gave the automaker, "detailed information about the hybrid technology that Paice had developed." The suit also alleges that: For more than five years, Paice answered inquiries from multiple departments within Ford, believing in good faith that a business relationship between Paice and Ford would be mutually beneficial and advance the acceptance of Paice's technology. ... After years of Ford learning the details of Paice's hybrid drivetrain technology, Ford elected not to enter into a business relationship with Paice. The suit is officially known as, "Paice LLC v. The Ford Motor Co., 14-492, U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland (Baltimore)" and you can read the PDF here. Ford told AutoblogGreen, "we do not comment on pending litigation." Toyota settled a similar patent-infringement case in 2010 and now pays Paice almost $100 for every hybrid it sells. Paice is still in court against Hyundai and Kia. In 2010, Ford also settled with Paice but they agreed to keep negotiating on other issues until at least January 1, 2014. With that date now in the past, it didn't take long for Paice to file papers to get the two sides back before a judge. That's where it appears to be most comfortable.
