2001 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Howard Lake, Minnesota, United States
Here's a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor I purchased in MO a month or so ago.
The good: Car runs and drives good. The interior does not have lots of holes in it. The interior is clean overall considering the car's age. The seats are in good condition. Since the car is from Missouri, overall the body is decent. There are only a couple small bubbles that I saw and no rust holes. The car got new spark plugs and one new coil last week. The brakes are 40% in the front and 60% in the rear remaining. The rear doors have all f the lock and latch mechanisms in them. most cop cars do not. I have a clean MN title in hand. The plates and tabs were just purchased and are new. No new tabs for a year! Car has no major oil leaks or mechanical problems that I could find. The ball joints and other front end parts feel good. The bad: Car has 142K miles on it, so everything is not "brand new" tight. It has some rattles and squeaks. The paint is not too good. The black is faded and chalky. It is flaked in multiple spots. It has some scratches and areas that are peeling. The mismatched front paint is from the car being hit in the front. It has no frame damage. The only damage I saw remaining is the core support for the radiator is bent. This does not affect the function of the car. The roof has some small dents and holes in it from equipment. The passenger front window goes up slowly. It works, but needs help sometimes. The tires are 30-40% remaining. One rear inner door handle is broken. Not the mechanism, just the handle. If you are looking for a cheaper but reliable car to drive, this car is for you. Keep in mind that this is a cheaper car that's 13+ years old. So, it's not perfect. I have described this car to the best of my knowledge and tried to point out any flaws that I could find. Please email with questions before bidding. Thanks for checking it out!! |

Ken Block's Gymkhana 8 to feature Dubai Police cars?
Tue, Feb 23 2016Yesterday we showed you the shiny Ford Fiesta that Ken Block will slide, spin, and hoon through the next Gymkhana video. In case the image above isn't clear, that video will drop at midnight EST on February 30th on the Ford Performance YouTube channel. We don't know all the entire premise of the video yet, but this Tweet from the man himself reveals that the video will be set in Dubai. Block is standing on the Fiesta we saw yesterday, and arrayed behind him are a handful of those famous Dubai Police cars you're probably familiar with. The force has a fleet of sportscars and supercars, and the purpose is outreach and goodwill among its citizenry, not necessarily the pursuit of criminals. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. From left to right, we can see a Maserati GranTurismo, Porsche 911, what looks to be a Nissan GT-R obscured by Block's Fiesta, a McLaren (likely a 650S), Ford Mustang, and a Ferrari 599 of some ilk. Will they take part? Maybe Block will try and run from what might be the most horsepower-intensive police fleet in the world. We'll have answers (and a few minutes of pure Block hooniganism) in a few days. Related Video:
Ford, Ram in heavy-duty towing spat
Mon, 28 Jul 2014Every pickup truck commercial has the brand trying to convince us that its model is the biggest, brawniest vehicle on the block. But Ford and Ram appear ready to really throw down the gauntlet and scrap over the towing figures for their heavy-duty models, and it could potentially end up in court.
The issue revolves around what it means to be best in class. Ford claims that its 2015 F-450 (pictured above) has a max tow rating of 31,200 pounds, compared to 30,000 pounds for the Ram 3500 (right). However, both companies market these heavy haulers as having the top towing in their class. According to Automotive News, Ford is threatening legal action if Ram doesn't back down.
The situation isn't as simple as just comparing the numbers, though. First, the two companies calculate their towing capacities differently. Ram adheres to the SAE J2807 rating, while Ford uses its own internal system. Although, as the company introduces new models, they are certified using the SAE standard. "When an all-new F-Series Super Duty is introduced, it also will use SAE J2807," said Ford to Autoblog in an emailed statement.
Ford, GM still doing new business with Takata amidst airbag crisis
Thu, Nov 20 2014Lengthy vehicle development times make it difficult for automakers to cut and run from the supplier. You might expect automakers to be fleeing any connection with beleaguered supplier Takata in the wake of the company's exploding airbag inflator crisis. After all, with a Senate hearing, pending lawsuit, plummeting stock value and demand for a national recall, the tier-one supplier isn't at its strongest right now. However, years of cooperation mean that automakers are standing by Takata, and necessity may be playing a role, as well. About 39 percent of Takata's business comes from airbags, and seatbelts make up another significant chunk of the operation too, says Bloomberg. The long-term relationships and lengthy vehicle development times make it difficult for automakers to cut and run from the supplier. "Takata has so much product breadth that I don't really see that they could just disappear," said AutoPacific analyst Dave Sullivan to Bloomberg. For example, Takata helped develop the unique front center airbag with General Motors in models like the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Outside of safety tech, it is also a partner with Ford on the adaptive steering system available on the upcoming 2015 Edge. These long-lasting partnerships make change difficult now that there's a problem. According to Reuters, automakers claim it would take a year or longer to set up with a different supplier for replacement airbag inflators. Switching to a completely different part for the repairs might not be a viable option either, because of the engineering time needed. BMW is taking action, though. According to Reuters, the Bavarian brand is working with the supplier to move inflator production from Monclova, Mexico, to a Takata factory in Freiburg, Germany. The Mexican plant may be the source of some of the faulty parts. News Source: Bloomberg, ReutersImage Credit: Jens Meyer / AP Photo BMW Ford GM Safety Takata airbag recall
