Vehicle mileage is 133,432 at the time of listing but will increase slightly as I use this vehicle to commute 60 miles round trip to work. The tires were purchase from Discount Tire at 124,798 miles.  Discount Tires receipt shows these tires to be a 45,000 mile tire. The mileage warranty is not transferable to additional owners however, the road hazard, tire workmanship and rotate and balance appears to be transferable according to the receipt. This warranty on the tires will expire August 5, 2014. The battery is about 3 months old. The rear axle was replaced in August of 2011. The mechanic said the axle came off of a Vic with about 75,000 miles. There is a hole on the seat back of the drivers seat. The interior is in decent shape for a used police vehicle. I purchased the car from the City of San Marcos, Texas in August 2011. I have primarily used the car for stationary security work where it was imperative to have a car that could idle for extended periods and not have overheating issues. It has served its purpose well but I am doing much less of this work now and need the money to put into another vehicle. The AC and heater both work very well. There is a spot light on the drivers side that does not work and is loose. The passenger side has the stem for a spot light but neither the light not the handle is present. The front seats are clothe. The rear seats are vinyl. Both front seat belts work. The rear seat belts do not have the female buckle receiver attached so you would need to purchase them if you need to carry passengers in the rear seat. The headliner is in good shape and is not sagging at all. There is not a working dome light. All headlights, tail lights, brakes lights, turn signals work. The headlights do seem to be aimed down too much but the high beams offer enough light for night driving. The floor of the interior is plastic. I have two carpet mats in the front floorboards. There are several holes in the dash from San Marcos mounting police equipment. The front push bumper has the flat black paint flaking off. The hood has about a 6" by 10" area flaking the white clear coat off. The roof of the car has some paint starting to peel next to the mounted GPS antenna that was left by SMPD. There are four mounts from the low jack locator system antennas on the roof. The trunk has the mount for a radio antenna. There are NO leaking issues where the mounts are on the roof and trunk. The check engine light is currently on and I will try to remedy that this week. The belt is squeezing badly also so I will try to remedy that this week also. I will post an update when these two issues are resolved. There is a popping noise in the steering when I cut the wheel all the way to the left or right at low speeds. I do not know what this sound is.

I would be glad to show this car locally before you bid. I am in the area of south Fort Worth, TX.  This car is not perfect and is being sold as is/where is with no warranty expressed or implied.  That being said, it is a good strong Crown Vic that is ready for more security work, to continue to be a commuter are to slap some oversized wheels on it and turn some heads.

A $500 deposit is expected within four days of auction end paid to PayPal. Local pickup is preferred but I would be willing to transport the vehicle for additional delivery charge. I would calculate fuel mileage, my time and cost of a car trailer rental. Please email me prior to bidding if you would like a quote on delivery charge to you.  You also have the option of using your own car shipping company however, full payment through PayPal is expected to clear prior to me releasing the vehicle to a delivery service. After the down payment is cleared through PayPal, the remaining balance may be paid in CASH ONLY upon pickup or delivery. If I deliver and the buyer backs out or no-shows, the $500 deposit will not be refunded.  This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to terminate the sale at any time. The car has a Clear Texas Title in My Name and there will be no issue transferring it to your name. If you live in Texas, I would prefer to meet at a tax office of your choice to complete the deal and transfer the title. This will additionally ensure buyer and seller protection.

The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.

Hot Wheels Ford Transit Connect is worth more if we keep it in the box

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

If the 2014 Transit Connect is anything like it's utile current-generation predecessor, and we suspect it is, it will undoubtedly be one of the most functional vehicles in North America. Ford has used the occasion of SEMA to turn the TC in to things that both make use of that functionality, and occasionally sort of wreck it in the name of good old-fashioned fun. The Ford Hot Wheels Transit Connect most certainly falls into that second category.
Most TC owners might cite the vehicle's massive cargo capacity as its top positive trait, though in the case of this wide-bodied Transit said space has been sapped in the name of a 55-inch television screen, a massive Hot Wheels drag strip (continuing a popular theme at SEMA this year) and custom storage for dozens of models from one's personal hot wheels collection. Designers have also plucked the grippy Recaro seats from the Focus ST, and thrown in a pair of 18-inch tablet screens for connectivity on the go.
Naturally, the Transit Connect wouldn't be an appropriate SEMA vehicle, or Hot Wheels name-bearer, if it weren't wearing an eye-popping appearance package. Additional homage to the Focus RS can be found in the blazing blue and orange front fascia and bumpers, while 20-inch wheels make sure the wider (four-inches in front and six-inches in the back) Transit Connect sits just right. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder-engine that powers the Hot Wheels TC ensures that the concept is more show than go, but you probably had that pegged from your first look, anyway.

Feds looking into Ford Explorer exhaust leak complaints

Fri, 20 Jun 2014

There may be a burgeoning problem with exhaust leaks in the 2011-2014 model year Ford Explorer. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is examining multiple complaints of a gasoline smell in the cabin of these SUVs. However, the exact cause of this problem is still unknown.
"The agency is reviewing all available data and will take appropriate action as warranted," said a NHTSA spokesperson in an email to Automotive News. Owners seem to generally complain on the regulator's website of the smell entering the cabin through the air vents. At this time, the government organization has not yet opened an official investigation into the problem, though. When it does begin inspecting vehicles, NHTSA posts a detailed breakdown of its public data online.
Similar problems have been reported about the Explorer in the past, though. In 2013, Ford issued a recall for the 2013 model year of the SUV due to a fuel leak that could cause drivers to smell a gasoline odor and repaired them again later for another possible leak. In response to Autoblog's questions, Ford responded via email: "We are not aware of a NHTSA investigation. We are currently reviewing the case and in the event that any action is required, we will address it promptly."
