I bought this car directly from a rural (Minnesota) sheriff department just over a year ago.

It is in great shape, and I have used it daily since I bought and drove back across country to California.

It has recently gotten a complete mechanical going over, including replacing the Alternator and Battery, New serpentine belt. Replaced several of the individual coils (coil on plug system) and just completed a full tune up with new plugs, all new filters (air and oil) as well as changing the oil.

Tires are in great shape, they are police style, plenty of life left on them (see photo's). Brakes are good, replaced a few months ago.

This vehicle passed the California SMOG test with extremely clean readings. It has been well maintained its entire life, and I have taken great care of it during my tenure :)

I will mention there are no rips or tears on the upholstery, but there are a few coffee stains etc. On the outside, there is a police spotlight on the driver side that is non functioning at this time.

The body is in pretty good shape, negatives are holes in the front bumper where the push-bar used to be, some plugs where the police equipment used to be mounted on the roof, but never a leak and there is one of the small police hubcaps missing.

This is a car that is a pleasure to drive, it also garnishes a bit more respect rolling down the road than your typical automobile. People tend to just move out of your way when you are cruising down the highway.... cant imagine why :)

I must say that this is a 12 year old former police car, as such it is not in show room condition, it is however well taken care of, but there are defects, and will be sold "As is, Where is".

This is not your standard Black and White unit, this one came loaded from the factory, Cruise control, and carpets came as standard.  This is a nice cruiser! I am only selling it as I just bought a new car the other day, and do not need to be paying insurance on 2 cars.

Ford unveils all-new 2016 F-650 and F-750 at NTEA

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

Medium-duty work trucks might not be the most exciting vehicles, but they perform necessary jobs everyday. Ford is in the process of a complete refresh of its entire commercial vehicle lineup over the next 18 months, and it is debuting the all-new versions of its F-650 and F-750 trucks at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN.
"The all-new F-650/F-750 allow us to leverage our strengths and sales leadership in Classes 1 to 5 to create a better F-650/F-750 that's designed, engineered and built by Ford in the USA," said Ford spokesperson Mike Levine to Autoblog via email.
Huge amounts of torque is vital for trucks like these, and both models are offered with some of Fords biggest engines. Buyers can opt for either the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel with TorqShift 6-speed automatic with available power takeoff or a gasoline-fueled 6.8-liter V10 with a 6-speed automatic. The V10 can also be ordered from the factory to be fueled by compressed natural gas or liquid propane gas.

The fascinating forgotten civil defense history of Mister Softee trucks

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. Click over to Throwin' Wrenches for the full run down of how Mister Softee would have stepped in to help fight if the Cold War ever turned a little hotter.

Ford Escort returns, just not for US

Sat, 19 Apr 2014

Ford is set to give the burgeoning Chinese market its very own C-segment model, while also reviving one of the brand's more notable nameplates. The new Escort, which will make its world debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show will be built in the People's Republic at the Changan Ford joint venture facility.
The Escort's exterior is best thought of as a mix of the finer points from the US market Focus and Fusion, with the Aston Martin-ish grille and narrow, wraparound taillights presenting a clean look at either end of the car. It's all fairly true to the concept car from last year's Shanghai Motor Show. That said, this exterior job is almost too clean. There doesn't seem to be a lot of character or substance beyond the typical Ford looks.
There's a similar issue in the cabin - it all looks pretty nice, but the design is rather plain, particularly when viewed alongside the display-filled cabin of a US-spec car. Still, there looks to be a fair amount of space in both the front and back seats, and the trunk isn't exactly tiny, either.
