TRANS LEAKS AT TORQUE CONVERTER SEAL
DOES NOT ALWAYS ENGAGE IN REVERSE. WHEN IT DOES ENGAGE REVERSE GEAR IS SOLID WITH NO SLIPPING. I THINK IT IS AN ELECTRONIC ISSUE SOMEWHERE IN SOLENOIDS OR WIRING. I REPLACED THE RANGE SELECTOR THINKING THAT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT, BUT STILL NO BETTER. THERE ARE 4 TRANSMISSIONS AVAILABLE FOR MODEL YEAR 2000 P71'S SO I GUESS IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE TRANS WAS ALREADY REPLACED WITH AN INCORRECT UNIT? FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THE WIRING HARNESSES AND PLUGS ARE DIFFERENT COLORS? GOING TO CALL FORD DEALER AND SEE IF THEY CAN TELL ME WHAT TRANS THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE IN IT AND GO FROM THERE.
GOOD TIRES.
RECENT TRANS SERVICE AND FRONT UPPER CONTROL ARM ON DRIVER'S SIDE.
STOPS STRAIGHT.
GREAT DONOR CAR MOTOR COMPUTER BRAKES MAYBE A REBUILD ON THE TRANS OR 5 SPEED SWAP?
RIGHT FRONT CORNER LIGHT IS CRACKED.
LEFT REAR TAILLIGHT WAS REPLACED WITH EITHER AN LX LIGHT OR WRONG YEAR P71. CHROME TRIM INSTEAD OF BLACK AND ISN'T FLUSH WITH THE TRUNK LID.
POWER STEERING PUMP TAKES A FEW MINUTES TO WARM UP. STILL STEERS JUST A LITTLE HARDER.
NOT A PERFECT CAR. BASIC TRANSPORTATION YES. WILL GET YOU HOME YES. COLD AIR YES!

Ford Australia launches Falcon GT F 351, last of its line [w/video]
Sun, 15 Jun 2014It's always best to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and Ford Performance Vehicles is doing just that in Australia with the Falcon GT F 351. It's the most powerful road car the Aussie performance brand has ever made with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 471 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 420 pound-feet of torque. It's joined by the FPV Pursuit Ute with the same powerplant tuned to 422 hp and 402 lb-ft. Sadly, the last F in this Falcon's name stands for Final.
The GT F 351 is a monumental way to go out, though. It harkens back to the old days of Aussie muscle Fords, and the 351kw output is meant to reference the classic Falcon GT and its 351-cubic-inch V8. In addition to the massive power, the F has the improved suspension from the R-Spec model and Brembo brake calipers.
FPV is building just 500 GT F sedans for Australia and 50 more for New Zealand, plus 120 Pursuit Utes. They feature a blacked-out hood and black stripes over the hood and sides, plus gloss black accents around the headlights, door handles and mirrors.
Carfection looks for the ultimate pocket rocket
Fri, Mar 18 2016If there's one thing we love, it's a good showdown. Especially when it's on video, done by some Englishmen, and involving some manner of performance machinery. Like this latest clip, for example, from Carfection. The team formerly known as Xcar have assembled three very compelling supermini hot hatches: two we can get on our side of the pond, and one we can't. One American, one Frenchman, and one Brit. One cheap, one expensive, and one somewhere in between. They all pack turbo fours, of course, but placed in entirely different packages. There's the evergreen favorite Ford Fiesta ST, the Renault Clio RS 220 Trophy that should have the rest licked, and the retro rocket that is the Mini JCW. And there's only one way to find out which is the best. It's a tough contest, to be sure, but lest you think it all comes down to specifications or which one's the newest, you'll want to think again. Because when it comes to hot hatches, all the electronic gizmos and power boosts in the world can't show up a perfectly dialed-in chassis that lets you hug the curves and feel like you're going a lot faster than you actually are. But don't take our word for it – see what our British friends have to say about it in the Queen's English in the seventeen-minute clip above. Related Video:
Ford F-100 'Snakebit' shown off by Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed at SEMA
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Ford, along with KISS bassist Gene Simmons and his wife, Shannon Tweed, used SEMA as a backdrop to pull the covers off Snakebit, a 1956 Ford F-100 pickup truck that's been updated with Shelby Mustang-derived styling bits and a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine. All 550 horsepower are funneled through a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels.
Underneath the custom bodywork sits a chassis that's been stretched five inches and a bed widened and bedecked with billet machined pieces that are supposed to look like wood. The 20-inch rear and 18-inch front wheels ape those of past Shelby Mustang models. The interior is swathed in two-tone leather with a bench seat designed to look - try to act surprised - like a Shelby Mustang.
Like what you see? Bidding for the truck will take place in 2014 at an unspecified Barrett-Jackson event (we'd assume Scottsdale). Proceeds will be used to help build a children's hospital in Saskatoon, in the province of Saskatchewan, where Ms. Tweed grew up. See the high-res gallery above and the press release down below for more.
