First delivered new in 1997 to the Riverside OH Police Department as a duty cruiser, it was bought by a local car collector at 17,000 miles, after a minor nose accident took it out of service.  The collector took it to Custom Coach Builders in Lima OH, a hearse and flower car builder, with the task of turning it into a station wagon.  Custom Coach used a mid-90's rear end from a Mercury Sable, plus new sheet metal from the rear side doors back, to turn it into a factory-looking wagon.  The collector then took it to a high end auto upholsterer, who redid the seats and the roof liner, then installed the rear-facing third seat.  It also has nice late 90's Mercury Grand Marquis wheels.  The rear window opens separately from the rear deck door.  I swapped out the original radio for a Kenwood radio/cd/Sirius player.

It sat in a heated garage until I bought it in Feb. of 2010, when it had 23,500 miles.  Before buying it, I verified that it was a true P71 full Interceptor, and that it had a clean CarFax and title.  I installed a class 3 hitch and electric trailer brake, so I could occasionally pull a boat trailer.  I garaged it and drove it to work on Fridays before I retired in Nov., 2012, and the car now has 40,600 miles and is extremely well maintained (absolutely no rust.)

The tires have 10-12,000 remaining wear and no services will need to be done before the happy buyer takes across country.  Interceptors have a special speed chip, two radiators, a transmission cooler, heavy duty suspension and an anti-sway bar.  It will likely do 140 mph, as noted on the certified speedometer.  I have magnetic badges that I apply when I take it to car shows (LAPD Badge # 714 and US Navy Shore Patrol.). Always a hit at car shows, the car guys know that Ford didn't build a big wagon after 1991, but they all agree that if built by the factory, it would look just like mine.

I sold the boat and bought a Class C RV, so I no longer need my big rig.  It is garaged in Raymond ME, not far from the Portland airport.  631-813-9006 for more information.

Ken Block's Gymkhana 8 to feature Dubai Police cars?

Tue, Feb 23 2016

Yesterday we showed you the shiny Ford Fiesta that Ken Block will slide, spin, and hoon through the next Gymkhana video. In case the image above isn't clear, that video will drop at midnight EST on February 30th on the Ford Performance YouTube channel. We don't know all the entire premise of the video yet, but this Tweet from the man himself reveals that the video will be set in Dubai. Block is standing on the Fiesta we saw yesterday, and arrayed behind him are a handful of those famous Dubai Police cars you're probably familiar with. The force has a fleet of sportscars and supercars, and the purpose is outreach and goodwill among its citizenry, not necessarily the pursuit of criminals. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. From left to right, we can see a Maserati GranTurismo, Porsche 911, what looks to be a Nissan GT-R obscured by Block's Fiesta, a McLaren (likely a 650S), Ford Mustang, and a Ferrari 599 of some ilk. Will they take part? Maybe Block will try and run from what might be the most horsepower-intensive police fleet in the world. We'll have answers (and a few minutes of pure Block hooniganism) in a few days. Related Video:

First retail 2015 Ford Mustang headed to Barrett-Jackson

Fri, 20 Dec 2013

Want to be the very first person to own a 2015 Ford Mustang GT? Here's what you'll need to do: be in Scottsdale, AZ on January 18 for the Barrett-Jackson auction and bring a very big checkbook. Having a passion for charity isn't a bad idea either.
Yes, the first 2015 Mustang to be sold to the public will be crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, with proceeds from the auction going to JDRF, the charity formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
"Ford Mustangs have always been among the most popular collector cars at Barrett-Jackson Collector Car events," said the president of Barrett-Jackson, Steve Davis. "While every collector wishes they had snapped up the first Mustang sold in 1964, this is an opportunity to realize that dream in a different way."

Ford Announces Free Brake-Pad Offer If Customers Stop By Dealers

Mon, Aug 4 2014

These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers. "We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts. Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1. "This program reflects our commitment to providing customers with an excellent ownership experience regardless of the age of their vehicle," said Frederiek Toney, President of Ford Customer Service, in the company's announcement of the offer.
