1990 Ford Crown Victoria, Country Squire LX Station Wagon, 5.0L V-8 Engine, 4 Speed Automatic Transmission, Immaculate Condition

This station wagon was my father's pride and joy and he spared no expense with its upkeep, having regular oil changes and service until his passing in 2010. I have since detailed the car to near perfection including the following.

BODY:

• Hand painted the wood grained side panels & molding

• Replaced all (45+) interior & exterior light bulbs, including instrument panel

• Refurbished bumpers & rubber

INTERIOR:

• Upgraded AM/FM stereo, equipped with SD Card & USB ports

• Reupholstered headliner & window visors

• Removed, resurfaced & repainted all plastic interior parts including dashboard

• Repainted rear interior bed

MECHANICAL:

• Replaced alternator, starter & battery

• New oil, filter & air filter 2013

• Professional inspection & assessment from Auto Hutch, La Crescenta, CA 2012;

LEGALITIES:

• Smogged at Image Auto, Tujunga, CA, August 2013

• New registration & plates (paperwork current; registered to me not my father)

POWERFUL 5.0 V8 WITH AN EXCEPTIONALLY SMOOTH RIDE. Heat and AC work perfectly. Original seats and carpet are in excellent condition. The front electric driver seat, tilt wheel and Ford Premium Sound speakers are also original. Tires are Firestone FR710s on the front and Bridgestone Turanzas P215/70R15 on the rear. They are in like new condition, with an average tread depth of 20/32 or 16mm. Paint is in fair condition with oxidation but still looks very nice; it has been waxed and retains a decent sheen. The hood was painted by my father some time ago and looks good. Overall chrome and aluminum is in fair condition. Bumpers and rubber have all been repainted. In total, a sharp looking classic car that turns heads.

Carfax report confirms that the car was never in any accidents. My father was the sole driver in the house, as my mother never had a license. They were both non-smokers. Their business of 20 years was only about two miles from home in downtown Montrose. The odometer reads 28,955k, and had most likely turned over at the 99,999k mark, making the total lifetime mileage of the car 171, 638; an average of 7,463 miles a year over it’s 23 year old lifespan. The car hasn’t been driven since early in 2010, except to keep it going once a week.

The ultimate in family cars of yesteryear, this classic is still awesome today and is rated as a nine-passenger vehicle.  I am asking $4,200.00 because I have put a lot of time and money into its restoration. CASH ONLY. Want a unique, interesting set of wheels with impressive guts? Come check this out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed and you won’t find another like it.

Ford finds flex-fuel engine design plays big role in emissions output

Mon, Jan 6 2014

How bad is ethanol for your engine? There's been a lot of debate on this issue as the US considers upping the biofuel content in the national gasoline supply from 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15). The ethanol industry and some scientists say higher ethanol blends show no "meaningful differences" in new engines while the oil industry says ethanol creates health risks. Researchers working at the Ford Research and Innovation Center decided to take a closer look at how a wide range of gas-ethanol blends - E0, E10, E20, E30, E40, E55 and E80 - affected the emissions coming out of a flex-fuel 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. To see the full report, printed in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, requires payment, but there is an abstract and Green Car Congress has some more details. The gist is that, "with increasing ethanol content in the fuel, the tailpipe emissions of ethanol, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methane, and ammonia increased." At least NOx and NMHC emissions decreased. The researchers say that the effects are due to the fuel and "are expected for all FFVs," but that the way that a manufacturer calibrates the engine will affect NOx, THC, and NMOG emissions. It's this last bit that's important, since the researchers found, "Higher ethanol content in gasoline affects several fundamental fuel properties that can impact emissions. ... These changes can have positive or negative effects that can depend on engine design, hardware, and control strategy. In addition to direct emissions impacts, higher ethanol content fuel can also provide more efficient combustion and overall engine operation under part-load conditions and under knock-limited higher-load conditions." So, as we head towards more ethanol in our fuel supply (maybe), manufacturers are going to need to learn how to burn it most efficiently.

Toyota again claims Corolla outsold Focus worldwide

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

Toyota isn't convinced the Ford Focus was the best-selling nameplate globally last year. Bloomberg reports that for the second time in seven months, both Toyota and Ford are laying claim to the title. Ford cites R.L. Polk & Co. data that says the automaker moved some 1.02 million Focus models in 2012 compared to just 872,774 Toyota Corolla units. But Toyota says the actual figure is closer to 1.16 million Corolla models.
Last year, Ford said it took the sales crown through the fist half of 2012 based on information from IHS Automotive, but Toyota pointed out those numbers left out models like the Corolla-based Matrix and Auris, as well as the Corolla Fielder and Scion xB-based Corolla Rumion. Whether or not Toyota's belief that all these cars should be counted in the Corolla bucket is accurate or not is seemingly up for debate... as is the question of why it matters so much to both parties.
This time around, Ford is holding the line that the Focus is the "best-selling nameplate," with Erich Merkle, a US sales analyst with Ford saying the company's figure is, "a pure number that is verified by a third party." Toyota, meanwhile, has requested clarification from Polk.
